That’s hard to quantify......the exhaust run from the room to the outside vent is about 25 ft long. The ozone has that long to mix and destroy the odor before venting outside. It does a good job, as you can put your nose up to and still only smell the ozone outside. But, the smell still pentatrates the drywall/insulation/siding so you can get hints of the odor by walking around the house. Still, it’s the most effective device I’ve found. Bulbs are pricey and need to be replaced yearly and cleaned quarterly, which means taking the thing apart.

The freebies won't hit the room, I can only fit 24 in there. I'm saving high-end freebies for the apocalypse.

2 weeks done with flowering.....at this point, I couldn't be happier with the progress. The stretch hasn't been too extreme, but I expect it to continue another week or so. The height is well below a normal OG, at least the ones i've grown. I'll now be switching over from 100% veg fertilizer to a 50/50 veg/bloom mix from weeks 3- 6, then 100% bloom from weeks 7 and 8, then nothing the last two weeks. Smell is quite strong, so be prepared if you grow these. I lollipopped the bottom crap off the plants I could reach to make it easier to water, increase air circulation down below, and to let the plant put it's energy into where it matters- up higher. I'll be staking the plants today/tomorrow- just one center stake to help the plant hold the weight that's coming. I would love not to have to rip this room apart with falling or leaning stuff. Turn on your smell-a-vision, if you have it.

I wanted to show the stretch, which has really elongated the past 5-6 days.......Since it's been 18 days since I switched to flowering, I don't expect it to go on for more than a few more days. The first week, there was nothing, 2nd week it slowly started, and they really took off lately. I ended staking what i could, but left the shorter plants alone. You can also see budding has started, which also means the stretch is just about over. I'm watering every other day, maintaining a ppm close to 1000. Still a 50/50 mix of veg/bloom with no other additives just yet. Also the pic has been narrowed a bit, and does not show the sides of the room. I've also had to raise the lights to nearly their top position, to avoid any burn. Back on Friday.....

They look feisty! Did you pinch em? (Looked back & can't see it). If no was it because of experience with Chem or OG kush or just this strain? In your experience any truth in reducing stretch by keeping temps low for the first 3 hours of lights on? Cheers

No pinch, I never touch plants the first time I grow a strain. They are not as tall as some of the other OG's I've done and Ethos claimed they wouldn't get too tall. I think cooler temps on the whole will reduce stretch a bit, but I'm guessing since the tallest plants are to the outside perimeter, it's caused by reduced light and the plants stretch to get more. I'm pretty sure it won't be an issue overall, and I can't complain since the room is so darn healthy. My winter grows are always my healthiest too, because of the cooler room temps on the floor and walls are cooler. They also grew a bit wider than expected, making my side lanes not passable. But still, loads of bud sites which this heavy yielder will surely need.

The stretch is real with Zsweet inzanity, I started 2 seeds just to what it was like , one mutant with no top, the other did good , sent to flower at around 2 feet its now just starting the 3rd week of flower and its pushing 8 feet high.

If you check my grow on it, I think they stretched well into the 4th week of flowering. I think I mentioned I would have topped them if I grew it again. Instead, I bent the crap out of the tallest ones and although the colas ended up distorted looking, it worked well to reduce lamp burn.

Sshz I have a flushing question. any thoughts appreciated. ( have spent days on forums to no success) I have hit& miss smelling bud post harvest & drying. Just prior to chop I suspect I should have kept remaining RO H20 ph at 6.4 ish as you state, to prevent nitrogen uptake. IDID NOT. Do you think ( if I now)feed last few days with ph6.4 it will reverse this nitrogen up take ( I am trying to see if this could be cause) cheers , d

Not fully understanding what you are saying/asking but what I do is raise my pH at the end, to reduce N uptake as less is absorbed by the plant the higher pH you go. 6.5-6.6 is not unreasonable. It really depends how close to chopping you are. If it just a few days, I think it's generally accepted to say flush with 3x-4x the water to pot ratio. So if it's a 3 gallon pot, rinse 9-12 gallons of water thru it- pretty ridiculous but it will wash out all the leftover fertilizer salts. When I've been in your situation, which is just about never (LOL), I use Grotek Final Flush which is a salt clearing product that does an great job, but again you need to flush a lot of it thru to be effective. If I read it right, your complaint is not enough smell coming off the plants, wet or dried. That could be genetics, or the room is too warm or probably even more reasons but i'd have to think on it. I've had numerous strains put off almost no smell, until they are dried and cured properly- it may be too soon to be concerned.

Thank you for quick reply. Sorry for the ramble. I have flushed and chopped 1 of 4. All is great until 4-5 days into hang dry. Then it started smelling like cut lawn grass. I had cut a branch off pre flush & that dried & smoked fine. I'm guessing the 5.5 ph 3x vol. Flush is the culprit. ( my only hydro attempt was final flushed with pH 6.5 & she cured&dried beautifully). I'll give her a wee feed today and then RO @ ph6.4 before chop to try and avoid the smell Thank you muchly!

The pic is missing both sides of the room, so it's more extensive than shown. The blue light is from the camera filter, as the lights were just turned on, and for some reason it shows up blue thru the filter the first minute or so. Notice the angle of the sun leaves, that's one of my key indicators for overall health. Healthy plants want light and reach for it. I've had to maintain the Cal/Mag at 10ml per gallon- if i lower it I start to see some taco action going on. Click on the pic for closeup action.............

Hey SSHZ just wondering how come you chose sunshine mix ( I think) over coco coir , and 5 gal. pot vs 3 gal, is it just because thats just how you always did it, also curious if you feed every 2-3 days how much water would you have to give each pot. also do you reuse your soil ? I've grown in hydro at least 20+ years but I've been playing around with coir and sunshine mix just trying to weigh out the pros and cons, but obviously what your doing works pretty good

30+ years ago i actually started by hydroponics, way before most knew what the hell they were doing. I found it to be too "hot" and unforgiving- anotherwards, 1 screw up and the crop is lost or seriously compromised. So my beginning, on a very large scale (well over 800 plants indoors ), was using a system bought out of CA of 8 inch pipes with plastic cups sitting in the pipes exposing the roots thru a hole in the bottom of the cup. The pumps kept burning out the relays but overall worked well, until a major bust and I lost everything. Including my prized N.L. 5 X 2 mother from Nevils stock.

So I moved on to pro-mix, since it was readily available. I ran an 800+ acre organic farm for a while, then became a general mgr. of a large group of garden centers, and it was easy and cheap to grab bales when I need them. I find it forgiving, and only need to add perlite and lime to get up and operating. Now the Premier stuff (pro-mix manufacturer) comes with the myco's for a bit more money, and it's just so damn easy.

I'm currently in 4 gallon pots, not 5 as the extra gallon wasn't necessary for a 3 1/2 month grow. I make approx. 15 gallons r.o. water every 2 days, and use it all up in the room each watering, currently 23 plants. If I watered more, I could probably stretch it to watering every 3 days. But I like the fact I'm in with the plants a lot, looking, touching, cleaning, etc......it doesn't take long for things to go sour.
I wanted to add that I do not over water the pots, I like to have the roots stretch for their feeding. So many people overwater, and think they have to run off 25% (or whatever) out the bottoms- just not necessary IMO.

I tried coir bricks, and I liked them, but I had to purchase and have them shipped in. I'd say my success rate was the same between the pro-mix and coir, price wise the coir ended up more money if you add if shipping. I do not reuse anything, which I guess can be an option for both mediums. But you have left over ferts, bugs, eggs, etc. in leftover stuff and I'd rather just pay the cash to start fresh, rather than have to flush out the mediums which can be a pain in the ass. The perlite also breaks down over time, and it's difficult to really know how much salt (fertilizer) and lime is still in the medium.

Lastly, I just have my method down so down pat, K.I.S.S. if you know what I mean. I'm 62, and it's getting to be a bitch mixing up the soil, and carrying it down stairs to the basement each crop. I've mentioned to the wife that I'd like to switch to hydro again. But my 1.2 acre lawn loves it when I spread the old soil around, and my neighbor loves using it in his garden. So for now, it's pro-mix for me.

Hey SSHZ much respect for posting your story, Its awesome hearing from the guys that been around for awhile , you got a few years on me but I can relate to much of what your saying.

I remember those 8 inch pipe systems well . actually the system I use today was morphed form that, using the same principles I just down sized it made it my own easy to use and forgiving, I spent a lot of time back in the day though developing nutrient mixes/formulas etc. I still mix my own stuff today just because of how easy and cheap it is I guess, its just kinds what I know right, like you and pro-mix I can run hydro in my sleep. but I think i'm just looking for a change.

I've been running both coir and sunshine mix in 3 to 5 gallon pots , I don't see a big difference in growth between the mediums, but your right that 3 to 4 gallon pot size is ideal, like you the biggest issue I have is the mixing and carrying the soil .

Anyhow happy growing looking forward to the rest of your grow.

Day 25, damn things just kept growing. Stretch IS finally over, about 1/3 of the plants are taller than me (5"11"). All the plants are between 4.5 ft. and 6+ ft. Super healthy, as I've said, my winter crops are always nicer since the room remains around 5 degrees cooler during the day and 7-10 degrees at night. Temps do make a difference..........
