Small fan set on ground blowing at base as an attempt to cool the water. Water temped @77F.... 6x3gallon 2.75gallon filled. What should I do too keep my temperature at levels suitable in avoidance with bacteria and disease ? Suggestions if any, please ! Thanks to ALL

I quit having temp related issues when I started using beneficials in the res. so I'm not too good at regulating water temps, hopefully you find a solution. What problems are the plants having?

edit: Just noticed you have 2.75 gallons in a 3 gallon tank, is the water touching your net pots?

Yes they are about an 1.5 inch within the net. When you say beneficials, what do you mean ? None right now they're very small at this stage. They were germinated 12/10/16. I thought that my leaf growth was an issue but I was told give it time. In which I am doing.

keep the water an inch below the bottom of the net pot, ideally in dwc bubble buckets the medium in the pots is only moist at the bottom if at all. I drop my water level another inch after they get well established. beneficials are fungi and bacteria added to the roots or substrate at planting. I used to use myco grow soluble, then I switched to the ones that go with my nutes, both work well. Prior to that id been getting root sliminess and mold in the buds, I haven't had either problem since.

Pool shock/ bennies are the way to go if you dont want to run a chiller. H2o2 and other chemical cleaners are nice but its more of a pain than anything imo. You can also do the ice bottle shuffle just freeze, throw it in the res and repeat after it thaws. Keep in mind tho a chiller when dialed in allows more oxygen to roots, removes bacteria problems and overall is a much cleaner and easier process and overall less money wasted on root controll

How soon do you start using the beneficials? Would it be too early for the OP to begin them or does the root system need to be more developed?

I personally use bennies in my hydro setup as soon as the hydro setup is up! And ran the bennies in my setup in 2 different ways: 1-straight Great White in the res!
2-Brew the Great White bennies (sometimes with a handful of EWC in a sock) with a tablespoon of molasses for 48 hours then i apply a cup of the brew per 10 gallons (a little around the base of each plant) and then refresh it every 3 days or so (when using the brew ... and id save the rest in the fridge for upto 10 days)
Check out Heisenberg thread about it ..... great read full of quality info:

I must wait until my roots gain a stronger system. The roots a still have not been finding their ways down the below. I have been keeping the water afloat until I get a root system suitable to induce an aeroponic/hydroponic system. Does tarantula from advanced nutrients work similar to the product your suggesting ?

Thank you I will look into the costs. Any suggestions for a 6x3gallon ~ 2.75 gallon filled ?

Your saying add bleach to reduce water temperature?
no
hes saying use bleach to kill the bad bacteria prone to grow in warm water temps
and yes it can be done effectively but you need to dose it proper or you be in trouble...you cant just "add a few drops"
im not 100% its been a many years since ive dosed bleach but..if memory serves i think the dose might be 1ml/gln of std bleach... not the double strength stuff
youd be safe to use hydrogen peroxide over bleach.. i only used the bleach because i was dosing a 500 gallon resevior and that's a lot of hydrogen peroxide to buy

theres only one way to effectively cool that water and that's with a water chiller which is going to add heat to your room and electrical cost and the chillers aren't cheap...if you get one get a bigger one and expect it to crap out every 3 to 4 years

if you where able to set the resevior directly on top of a cement floor it might help drop it a couple degrees if you live in a cold climate

first let me say, i have yet to set up a DWC grow..so take that into account when i offer my opinion

as for bennies... im not saying you should or should not use them ... im just saying theres is still debate as to the effectiveness of bennies in inorganic mediums vs the negative aspects
personally i am not a fan of beenies unless its coco or soil but that's my opinion and doesn't make me right!!

even if you use the beneficial bacterias or h202 or bleach youll be hard pressed at that warm of temp to keep root issues at bay

i hate to say it because the stuff is so over priced that i refuse to buy it but what about hygrozyme?

or sm90 which is more cost effective

but still that's warm for DWC

can you convert to another style.. youll save a bunch of money vs buying those chillers extra pumps and filters heat and electrical costs

I haven't used tarantula but I think it's a bennie, there are many good ones, great white is one, every company makes one.

with DWC you want to start with your water an inch below your cup, this allows the popping bubbles from the air stone to tickle the bottom of the medium, wetting it but not submerging it. The water being at the bottom of the medium draws the roots down into the res, you'll get roots down there faster by lowering your water, if the seedling looks dry add a little water to the base of it.

you can start bennies as early as seed

Ima be honest with you I get so many conflicting informawhen it comes to DWC. Some folks told me to keep my Net and inch - 2inches submerged in water. Only during the first 2 weeks of transfer then lower the water. Now I'm advised to reduce it immediately. lol you see how I could b confused as too where to go with this. I have noticed that during the initial 2 days of transfer the water was an inch below the net. I was starting to get dry roots and none were coming down. The plant also was not gain leaf growth. It was suggested I increase my water and undergo the drip technique for a week. Since I've been doing this I've seen a small increase in roots. Still very slow though. I will reduce my water in your favor to see what this results in. I will update you at 5Pm EST. thanks I am happy to take all that is given.

With water temps at 77 your fighting a losing battle IMO. I chill my water using a passive chiller and until I did that I was growing weed but it was subpar and not reaching its full potential. I've tried every additive including shock and my best success was and is hydroguard but I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives. I did use hydrogen peroxide but it's getting hard to find here at 35%, bleach is hard to regulate to the point it is useful and I got rot using EWC tea. Best advice would be chiller and top feed sparingly until roots are established. Also I wonder if your adding enough air if things dried out, popping bubbles should keep things moist.

Those temps are not ideal but I have seen worse. Beneficials will def help in any situation but as far as my DWC goes Iv been using root life microbes from key to life and my roots and plants have never looked better. Id suggest checking them out.

I can attest to the root temps. My water is sitting steady at 65 to 67 in RDWC and my roots are blowing up. The plant is like 13 days from seed and I have 4 or 5 really fat tap roots that are 8 or 10 inches out of the bottom of the hydroton and suckling up water like champs. I have a big bottle of hydrogaurd ready to go but I haven't had to touch it yet with my temps. I'd try your hardest to get those temps down one way or another.

you can also shade your buckets, wrap them in white plastic or reflective bubble material. That'll help some, sorry there isn't more help I can offer i just haven't had these problems in a while despite living in a hot muggy armpit type section of the us.
