Dry or Wet Bud Trimming???

Hi all,

Got a debate i have been talking about with friends for a long time. When you harvest wet bud then trim it does it lose potency VS harvest and taking big fan leaves off then letting the buds with there small leaves that are in the nugget itself that are covered in crystal and let it dry and in a way the crystals are able to push more out…………….please any feed back from anyone that has knowledge about dry and wet trimming……..420

There's no potency lost just some people prefer to leave the leaves on during drying to protect the trichomes, and to help slow the drying time down.

I left the leaves on once. I have never experienced a bigger ball ache than trying to trim crispy leaves, when wet most leaves just pull off and you can trim the rest pretty damn quick. Never again, there's billions of trichomes in those buds i ain't worried about damaging a few!

it's a preference, my issue and method are due to the fact that I only grow for myself and my girl, so taste and quality are the most important to me. The biggest difference is it'll dry more fast, which in my opinion leads to a crappier smoke. It IS A BITCH to trim fully dried herb, but I think it tastes better, I trim when the sunleaves get crispy, at that point the colas are dense enough to still be a lil wet, but it's not a total bitch to trim at that point. NO potency difference though. I always leave ALL the leaves on until the sunleaves are crispy, just burns and tastes better, course that's just step ONE in about FIVE to finish the whole process of drying/curing/storing

I hear what you're saying, I'm in the same boat me and mrs n all but I found with leaves trimmed pre dry it takes the colas a week til they're ready for the jar and then ready three weeks from there.
Organic buds are hard to mess up dry/cure wise tho. My mate drys his plant whole in a cupboard for two weeks then just sticks it in a bucket and it still beats most lol

I always trim wet. Its the most tedious, bullshit work to trim dry. I find you can get a closer, better trim when the leaves are fresh and stick out straight. You avoid clipping into the bud a ton.

Been trimming wet for years. Tried it dry ONCE. What a pia

being able to handle the bud while wet is better cause you can work between the buds and get thick stems without irritating much

i wait until the fan leaves can basically be pulled off , and then do an almost-dry trim. At this point i might hang it up for another day or two, or jar it. Once jarred i will burp or leave open for a few days then once humidity equalizes, cure with a large 62% boveda 2-way pack in a medium mason jar

oh yeah and i always do a whole plant hang dry , unless its too big then i'll do branches hung on lines
also wanted to mention i'll havest the first 1/3 or 2/3 then the rest a few weeks later, and i see a yield increase and also a different maturity bud to try out

I always trim when wet,chop and hang the whole plant in my closet.Leaving the bud on the plant to dry will ensure it dosent dry too quick.If Im honest I cant understand why anyone would dry trim,must be a nightmare!

I trim wet because it is less messy. If the buds dry out to much I just through a fan leaf in the jar for a day. Burp and cure as usual after that.

Haven;t noticed any negative affects/ effects <-- don't know which one to use so bam. Covered all bases.

THIS!!!! i find that when i trim wet, and get all the water leaves first is just a waste of time, it takes like 2-3 seconds to get them all off in one trim session. no need for 2-3-4 sessions. taking it in steps. just do one big session, that adds like 2-3 seconds per plant. and it's easier. time is too valuable. and i got shit to do!! oh yeah and im the only one that trims. so if i got 5 packs to trim... immah hit it all at once. like i said it's only 2-3 seconds to take off the water leaves. no need to waste like 4-5 hours when u gotta trim it again anyways.

No wonder it's hard to trim dry when your hanging the plant upside down...
Try hanging it right side up + the leaves wont curl over the buds when it dries.

I've tried both methods + wet trim doesn't taste the same to me.

The taste of dried then trim is better?

Do it wet for a few reasons...a wet trim is better in bubble hash making, b its easier and much less time consuming, c I get a grand amount of scissor/hand hash that I do thoroughly enjoy partaking in OFTEN;) and I feel I can get real real close to the bud without damaging it in any way, better then I can when dry...also I done much use scissors often, I just take off ALL the leaves with my hands, sugar and all..after the many years ive gotten the technique down to not use scissors, and everyone always comments how there is NO leaf on it at all just bud..my dry trims look like shit..
