Don't post and entice with a + REP, you're just pissing everyone off!!!!

I think it's worth more that someone finds your post so informative it crosses their mind to deal you +rep, rather than them having the intentions of doing so beforehand and your post just happened to be a little more useful than others. You want people to read your advice and be like 'OMGEE THAT WAS SSO HELPFUL U LEGEND !!!111!!!oneeleven!' +rep rather than, 'okay no one bothered replying except you... ermm... fancy some rep brother?'

im surprized some of the more seasoned guys dont strongarm newbies for rep justlike jail puttin money on their books lol

Theres a star on the left side of your post on the bottom. Click it to give rep. You see your rep at the bottom of your profile lol.

It's not like anyone respects people with higher reps anyway. Anyone can sit on here all day and reply to "What light should I get?" threads and get Rep.

I have belonged to boards where people would open multiple accounts so every chance they got they would give whatever that site called their +rep to their main account so they would look popular and look like they knew what they were talking about.

Its a stupid system, I dont even bother with it unless someone says something really smart/enlightening/funny.

Agreed, it ticks me off a little, too. IMO, in a perfect world, "+rep" is to be earned, received from those who've appreciated some helpful advice, information, suggestions, etc....not because they think you're a cool person, funny, etc....or as a reward for simply replying. It's SUPPOSED to be an indicator/refection of a person's growing skills/knowledge, so that other members can get some idea whether they're trustworthy, or not. BUT, since "rep" is thrown around like it's just something cool to accumulate, handed out freely, it's almost meaningless. I see idiots who can barely spell, with lots of "rep", yet they don't even know how to water their plants, yet. WTF? That's what pisses me off.

*end rant*

^Thank you, for not jumping on to that bandwagon.:)

And, just for the record,(because I know someone will bitch about it.lol)...I don't assume that everyone who has trouble spelling, are idiots. It's the idiots, that are idiots, and it just so happens, that most of them don't know how to spell.

They know who they are.

Well actually I can spell but I mess up on a few words. And I type akward because my keyboard is French/English, so it makes it harder to use apostraphes and such so I type out words like "do not, can not" instead of "Don't and can't" and I am very self-aware when I type something wrong or dumb.

No worries, I don't judge people based on a few misspelled words, strange wording, etc.... I have a complex, built-in, idiot detector, that is pretty damn accurate, and you sir/ma'am, aren't even close to being what I'd define as an "idiot". I'm far from perfect, myself. :)

Thanks, haha. And I am a sir. I agree with you with the rep though, when I see anything above "He will be famous soon enough" I always think to myself that they must have more knowledge - but it is usually not the case. I see people who get most there rep in Toke N Talk who make threads like "What lights should I use?" who have way more rep than me.

^Exactly.

I normally don't complain about it, because I also understand that there's lots of new people who simply don't realize what "rep" is intended to be used for, until they've been around awhile. But, every so often, a thread like this 'pop's up', and entices me to run my mouth. This time, I just couldn't resist.lol

I'm with you Jawbrodt! Of course when checking on Newbie Central these things are bound to happen.
