Does glass in reflector reduce a lot of light?

Would removing the glass in an air cooled reflector significantly increase the light to the plants and increase yield and quality? 1000w MH in veg 1000w HPS in flower

You’d gain up to 4% more light. In many cases there’s a reason there is glass in place

Removing the glass might increase intensity but will also drastically increase the amount of heat wafting off that 1000w bulb. I used to run a 600HPS in an xxl hood. Took out the glass once; tips of the cola leaves were singed by heat and temps were unbearable. Glass was quickly replaced. Lesson learned

Keep that glass cleeeean! I clean the hood glass once a week and it's always filthy. All the air rushing through it always has something in it to dirty the glass.
