Adding a 6" inline fan to my HID reflector

A friend of mine told me I'm making a mistake. Years ago I added a cheap 6" inline fan to the exhaust port of my HID reflector. I added it to draw hot air away from the bulb, and blow it into the tent..

The fan began making noise, so I decided to replace it. My friend said HID lights such as MH and HPS are designed to run hot to reach peak efficiency. Adding the fan might reduce it's efficacy.
Any thoughts?
Ive added photos for reference.

if you are blowing it in to the tent that defeats the proupouse of the air cooled hood witch is to get that hid inches away from canopy

if you need that heat no ventilator and no hood something like a huge wing reflector with a superspreader would be better

btw yeah its true that efficiency goes down by cooling the bulb but its not much.. like 5-10% and getting that light closer to canopy wins you more than that. thats why air cooled reflectors are a thing. but normaly you exaust that heat out of the grow

and your set up would be like a dehuey
if you have high rh then dont change anything if youre happy with the results so far

if i where you i would add a few watts of led to the corners of that fixture ;p

Thanks for the reply.

Actually I like the heat in the tent because my tent is in a spare room with no heat. So the sole purpose of the glass door is to allow the HID to get close to the buds with burning them? Also Ive changed things this grow. I switched from a 600w to a 1000w ballast and bulb.
Towards the end of each grow I add a couple of small LEDs I have. I hang them vertically to light up the sides of the plant which doesn't get a lot of light.

anyway with 1000w hps i would extract that heat at least out of the tent and in to the room the tent is sitting via a duct
also this would give you more moderate temps in the intake
you dont want to be sucking in super cold air and heating the tent with warm moving air you want air coming in to be 24 celcius and leaf temps 26 c
you can get that with getting those 1000w out the tent and in to the room
but you need to extract air out of the whole system or just leave a cracked window for co2 renovation

I have a 6" exhaust fan hooked up outside the tent with 6" flexible hose going into the top of the tent to pull out the stale warm air. The extracted stale air is then vented out the window.
I've grown nice weed in the past using 600w, I'm hoping the upgrade to 1000 will make it even better.

Thank you

nice set up then
in veg you could open glass and have like 10% more light leave the fan cooling the lamp its good lamp heats internally so no problem
