DIY with Quantum Boards

Well its taken me about 2 months but my new grow room is nearly completed. Pretty much waiting on the QBs to arrive now.

My inside dimensions are 42" wide and 36" deep.

My driver is a is a 320h-c1400b so i can get every bit out of the QBs

But im not sure how far apart i should make them?, or how high i should plan on hanging the light?

I had asked before but the room wasnt done yet so i wasnt quite sure.

I want to get the most out of my space with the 2 i have coming for now. Hopefully i can add a couple more down the road.

Plant on left is brains escape that i planned to mother through winter, right is a clone of some bagseed that just about died in my bubble cloner (having never rooted) but took off once i stabbed it into some soil w more aloe.

I decided i dont want to keep either strain, but im leaving town for a week in Nov so no point starting a hydro grow until after im back. So until December its just these two hookers under the QBs. I flipped em to 12 yesterday after i pulled em from the mother closet.

Figure they can start off under those lights til i get the quantum built.

That space is prime for Quantums... It allow you more vertical height to play with .
You will also reduce cable clutter and unnecessary plugs . With a simple 100k pot you will have extra flexibility with dimming . That blurble should become a single QB mod .... I did it with an old Mars Hydro.

You will be very surprised on tge light intensity - the pics on this thread don't come close how powerful the light is ..... My 2¢ , try running 60% power ( dimmed ) and allow plants to get accustomed to this light system ... Height around 18" - 24" is fine . Keep airflow over plants and you are pretty much set. There will be no need for the CFL also.

Which color temp did you pick ?

Keep us posted ...

run 18 gauge from driver to the lights, loss will be minimal. I've run 24V up to 400ft from a micro hydro, you match your wiring to your needs.
where are your calculations? to say that voltage drop is great does not quantify nor give legitimacy to your claim. I ran the numbers in a calculator and I saw a drop of 2 volts out of 122 total at 50ft for DC. so by these metrics 2/122 is great?

I have two 3000k ordered.... I also ordered my fused switch/plug combo, 100k Pot, tap and bit, machine screws, kw meter etc etc etc today.

Ive thought about doing the mars hydro cob conversion on my gh300 there and placing it between the QBs. The garage my room is in gets down to mid 50s on brutal cold nights.

Ive also considered putting 1 of those 33w 2700k cfls at each of the 4 corners of the light frame just to add a lil more heat if it gets too cold. It would be as simple as unscrewing them if i didnt need em.

260W 3000K - Corner Grow

( VIVOSUN Mylar on angled wall )
This was the grow I started with this odd setup ( desktop corner ) , the Mylar gives that infinite mirror effect ( like at the barber shop ) ! So the quantum works very well here , just hope I didn't open a portal for ghosts ( mirrors facing each other ) - *covers head with blanket ...... Lol

Anyways ... As you know the Quantums really tighten up nugs ( chunky ) and I am really liking the heavy terpy sticky odor filled goodness ......so far I think I threw about 10 different strains at the Quantums since day one , with a couple of shit strains that I kicked to the curb - Damn you Cali Connection ..... KKKKHHHHAAANNN!!!!!!!!!

That ASH ( Arjan strawberry haze ) was a bust - it was that totem pole looking plant. I was like a pistil covered broom stick , no swell , no branching .... So I did an ATOMIC ELBOW on that bitch and kicked the fuck out of it ... Right into the dumpster. But overall the Quantums grow my plants proper.... Ya dig ?

This rig is running full at 12/12 today and I will drop cycle to 11/13 tonight for a week or two ( til end ) .... Tang is on water only because of that feed screwup I did about 2 weeks ago , I clipped the most necrotic parts and she is not showing too many new ones .

Its not claim, 2 volts per 50 feet is alot, that would be 4 volts per hundred feet. It is considered intollerable to have a circuit drop of 3 percent or greater when designing a circuit which 4 volts is, i said no greater then 50 feet as its a good rule of thumb. You probably wont see a difference as the driver will make up for it, if you have to run long 50 feet plus im mearly stating you should increase conductor size to reduce voltage drop. This is all standard electrical code

So I have a Northern Grow Lights Photon 190 1818 3500k 90 cri. What would be equivalent in a quantum board with flower power. If anyone here may know. Coverage and power. My whole tent is centered on that light. Curious mostly.

Im not preaching following the nec this is a diy forum and you can do it however you want.
You know code and I am not arguing that, the only problem I had with your statement was your use of words and lack of context. People take advice pretty seriously on here. Electricity should be respected, especially if you are diy, most fires linked to grows are because growers assume that their loads can be carried for the amount of time we run our equipment at day in and day out.

read back a week, Any idea when the Slate 1's will be in stock? And are they cuttable? I want to use them for my DIY strip project, 23"x23"

thanks

You probably should NOT cut the slates unless you have nice equipment to do so. there are companies that design heatsinks to your specification if you are looking for something more custom.
