DIY with Quantum Boards

I have a 320H-C2800b that pulls 362 watts from the wall with 4 QB304 in parallel, so yes they have some headroom.

good morning.. thanks Pop that fuel analogy was the best explanation I have heard.

What is confusing me is that according to the datasheet on the QBs at lower currents like 1750 they are only pulling closer to 48V not 51. Since the C1750 can output 143V it seems pretty close that u could get a 3rd board on there.

I'm still a little confused in your example. Is the driver compensating by outputting more current than it's rated for in order to get to that wattage? I knew that was true for the regular CV drivers but didn't know the CC ones worked the same way.

yeah i dont get it either tbh. I have my 240H-c1050B connected to 4 QB288s. according to the datasheets that should mean there is like 52V left over and i should only get 200W from it. however if u look at the datasheets there is a chart that shows the curve where it switches b/t CC and CV.

The only thing I am legit wondering - is the driver pulling its max power when turned up to full blast, and there are more volts being pulled than used? I havent taken time to get out a volt meter to see. Meaning maybe I am only getting 200W to my boards? And you are only actually getting 168W.

Can someone answer that? In a CC driver, is the full voltage "pushed" to the modules so they will split whatever is available? Or will they each only pull what they need and the extra is just going "unused"?
The voltage will peak at the voltage drawn by the board with the highest draw. The boards are not exact matches ( although they are pretty close ) so if one board draws .2 more voltage that's what will flow through the chain.

Either of those drivers will only run 2 boards in series. Using as an example 51v per board you'll get about 90 watts per board draw with the 1750ma driver and about 108-110 watts with the 2100ma driver. The "left over" voltage is meaningless as the 2 boards have already used the majority of the available amperage.
Ameprage is like fuel in your gas tank, and voltage is the fuel pump, pushing the "fuel" to your boards. You may have the pressure to push more fuel but your injectors are already using the max they are capable of. The rest is just reserve.
Are you sure about that? I would think you could have 3 or even more in series with the CC driver, but just with less watts per board.

The driver that comes with the 3 board kit is HLG-320H-1750A. So it puts out the same amps. I'm confused.

Found the 304 guide. So that constant 2800mA is being split into 4 700mA circuits since they are wired in parallel. If you had them wired in series they would all get 2.8 amps and probably fry the boards. I'm actually starting to figure this shit out again I think, lol.

same amps but more volts are available.

the C1750 wouldnt be able to fit more than 3 288s I dont think. 48.1 x 3 = 144.3V and it only goes up to 144. I am pretty sure it will work tho bc I put 5 288s on my 240HC-1050B (which goes to 238V ... 47Vx5 = 235V) and they all powered up and it was at 240W at the wall.

Shit. Thanks man. Things are making a lot more sense now. I know I've said it before, but this time I'm really starting to get it, lol.

I've got enough lights to rival the sun!!! I thought that I could build my own fixtures but that is obviously not the case!!! All of the money that I have spent I could have bought ONE LIGHT AND BEEN DONE WITH IT!!! HAHAHA!!!
Now with that being said, can I find a nice light for a 3x3x6 for around 250-300???
I recommend the Bloom Plus lamps via eBay or alternate source. I got a 300W BP3000 for $AU255 and it's doing a great job so far in my 1m x 1m tent/space.

I don't like companies that exaggerate the wattage.
I also have true disdain for those companies, and those who still sell blurples PLUS exaggerate the light power output.

The 300W is genuine power. It's a double Quantum board style. The BP3000 is the model number. It actually has a nice spectrum as well as a good price, or I would not mention it.

I saw this. And when they call it a 3000 that's pretty deceiving. I wouldn't spend my money on a Chinese light, but that's me. HLG has a 15% deal going this month. I just have always bought the good stuff.

9 days later …

Well since I’m handicapped on “ grow space “ …. Kids finally taking more shit out of my extra room . I figured I would at least grow something. Original QB 304 / COB RIG is up and running . It’s a bit chaotic figuring which plants go where in tents.

One of the ethos endgame took a shit and didn’t survive , so I have one pushing forward with KKP ( King Kong poison x Durban Poison ) S1 seeds I made last year. The Northern Lights Auto is doing very well in the Hempy …… I totally will stick with this grow method over soil or my peat blends. Passive DTW is my go to method even over DWC.

Im able to give them 750-800 ppm on GH Maxigrow with Armor Si / Hydroguard. They drink heavily everyday and top off Rez with fresh mix at 5.8/5.9. The Red containers are Coco / vermiculite / perlite and also are working well. I have used Kelp as a once a week Foliar treat to all of them ( instead of letting it sit in Rez ). Original QBs are still bright as shit and zero problems after 6 years of use.

Northern lights auto will be “ widened “ with LST adjustment tomorrow…..

the 320H-C1750 will only fit three as the total voltage of 4 boards will exceed the maximum of the driver.

Not appropriate to post this in HLG's thread, that's like me posting an HLG light in Mars Hydros thread.

And there's no comparison between a light like that and an HLG light. Ask them for the lab report of the sphere test fr that light, see what they say.......

And their so called PPFD map is for a 3'x3' area, NOT the 5'x5' space they claim it will flower. Con job!

My new and my "old" Diablo lights are hard at work right now! Just moved the GG autos and a few Blue Dragons to the tent, which just got put back up.
The Scorpion Diablo now has just photoperiods under it. I'm growing a Mazar i Sharif landrace, a few Black Ice ( my own cross, Black Domina x Indica test plant from some seed I was testing for Seed Stockers ), Some test grow plants, Black Lebanon from Super Sativa Seed Club, and a clone I was given of a strain called Gorilla Fume ( GG x Chemdog ). It's going to be a jungle!

"old diablo"

My "new" Diablo is killing it so far. How has your "new" Diablo been working @pop22 ?

Are you sure their qb132 v2 boards? Because a few people, including yourself I think, have said qb120 boards since this comment.
Like someone mentioned, if you have qb132 boards that's very different because they are 36v boards.
shit I just zoomed in on the pic he posted and they are definitely qb 132 v2s. sorry @Frank Nitty that I didn't notice this before. driver math needs to be redone. 4 132s x 36V = 132V. that C2100 driver only goes up to 119V so that won't work for the 4 boards in series. but it should work using one of the C1750 drivers. need to double check data sheets tho.
