DIY with Quantum Boards

Forgive my ignorance and if there is a link somewhere link it. What I have a hard time wrapping my head around is what watts to set at what stage of growth. Watts = light intensity = more photon output correct ? I kind of get it but need to be able to explain it in kindergarten terms. The tuning of watts "dimming" is a veritable as to a light that is plug in and go.

See this post on page 1 for details on optics.
You can click on the link and it takes you to the findchips.

Arrow and future are in $2.5 -$3 range
Mouser is crazy expensive. CDI seems to have 45MOQ

Arrow for 8 pcs is $30
View attachment 3870429

Lets try Future electronics 2.84*8= $22.72 + Shipping
View attachment 3870430
So the optics are $20-22 per board + Shipping
That is completely wrong you need 24 optics from arrow.

With the 320-1400, NGL engineering page shows a 2 parallel + 2 series (2p+2s). Can this be furthered to 3 parallel + 2 series (3p+2s)? If I understand correctly the Vf is the same just the current is in thirds instead of halfed.

If correct, the 4 qb's (2p+2s) would be @ .7a, so 6 qb's (3p+2s) would be @ .466a, roughly 48w a board?

Yep 2 in series as many "strings" as you like.

Somebody messed up..... Look at the description size. I would call arrow and complain. They will fix it.
It's not worth the trouble after seeing the optics I'm glad I didn't waste any more money these. Did you double check your order to make sure you got all of yours?

no,half of those are from rahz's sale but i do need them to finish the other side of my room/shop.
what holds these lenses in place? man a one piece lense for these boards would be nice, prolly sell like hotcakes to ;)
Ok I will need a driver or 2 eventually so thats why I was asking

Napalm D wanted lots of extra power as he will use the same lamp later in 3x3 or a 4x4.
Captain's lamp with HLG 240-2100's has enough power.

2×3x5
You can use a HLG-185-1400 with 2 or 4 boards in parallel
You can use a HLG-185-700 with 2 in series or 2x2=4 boards parallel-series wired

HLG-240 will be $10-$15 more but gives you more power. Just in case you need it:P
2 boards on a HLG 240-1050 series wired
3 boards on a HLG 240-2100 parallel wired
4 boards on a HLG 240-1050 parallel-series wired
https://northerngrowlights.com/pages/engineering

I have a 2x2.5
and 2 boards on a HLG 240-1050 series wired
This is very helpful, but would be much more awesomer if you also listed what the wattages per board in each config would be.
Idk why but im still having the hardest time understanding these dang boards and parallel wiring

Many have questioned the running temps of QB builds.

Here is a temp difference shot of typical led lanel ( viparspectra ) and my QB Panel refit.
Each of my tents run 8" vents and a similar air flow.
Viparspectra - running same cycle as QB ( 18/6 )

Higher ambient heat - lower humidity.

Yes .... this panel will go bye bye in favor of another build but for now its pulling its weight and safe for now ... LOL.

NOW .... The QB PANEL .... She runs at a remakable 68° constantly. Both have lights with dual active fans as far as case cooling , but the QB is scary cool !

The main issue when running these will be controlling ambient humidity which may creep up since very little heat is displaced. Notice the difference in meters running midway thru their light cycle of the day.

Also , since i grow indoor with autos , a higher 20/4 or 24/0 light schedule is hella doable because of the tightly controlled heat issue and higher efficiency . This is what i have been looking for .... No HID issues ( heat , large energy cost , or heavy suspicious power usage ). No heavy hoods , No buying bulbs , No ballast or frying my girls. T5 setups (6-8 bulb setups ) are still less efficient at around 2000 lumen per bulb (70-90 lm/watt ).

2 boards on a HLG 240-1050 series wired
2s@1050=~230w (115.3w per board)
3 boards on a HLG 240-2100 parallel wired
3p@2100=~225w (74.8w per board)
4 boards on a HLG 240-1050 parallel-series wired
2p+2s@1050=~210w (52.5w per board*)
*[I just used 500ma for simplicity]

Awesome! I'm holding out for those! I just don't want to use a big old sheet of aluminum lol! For me, a 4 panel light is a big investment. I want to make it the best I can and do it right.Still un-decided on the frame but looks like I have time lol!

Original Heatsink (side view) SLATE 1
1.85Kg/Meter density
100+ pcs of 'slate 1' expected to be air shipped to us next week so will stock in 10-14 days.
60+ pcs of old 'slate 1' heatsinks in sea shipment expected to arrive in 4 weeks

New Heatsink (side view) SLATE 2
2.4Kg/Meter density. Taller and serrated fins for boards running at higher power.
New heatsink will be ready in 10 days. should be in stock end of this month.
View attachment 3870411

Hole patterns will be same for both as board size is same.

New 3X Board heastink using same extrusion as SLATE 1, just longer. SLATE xx
Limited samples of new heatsink . same extrusion as 'slate 1', just 3 times longer to fit 3 boards on single heatsink. 10-14 days.
