DIY with Quantum Boards

Im building a 8'x4' frame for 12x qb288s v2 (3000k) on 3x 480h-2100a I have 4x Dual heatsinks and 4x Single heatsinks. Also interested in adding some supplemental reds.

Was looking at Rapid LEDs Emerison Effect and Exotic Supplement boards. Does anyone have experience with those? Are they worth adding to the setup? They are kind of costly Think I would need 4x of each to fill out a 8'x4' canopy evenly. Id be pushing near 50w per sq ft if I add the reds and around 40-43w per sq ft without.

This is all assuming Im going to get 460-480w per 4x qb288s. Which could end up being a tad less. I wired up 4x last night and my meter was reading 459w.

If anyone knowledgeable has suggestions or tips would be appreciated! I attached a couple drawups I made of my possible design.

Edit/ My other option could be to add 4x QB96 v2s to a 4th 480h-2100A which I already have.. Instead of the Emerison and Exotic boards.

All can't seem to find the answer online but why would you choose HLG 300 V2 over HLG 320 Watt XL ? The latter is cheaper and has higher wattage.

Ok , I have a new build coming together with QB96s and some “ extras “ ....

Dubbed : The WARP CORE

2 QB 96 with 2 Sunblaster T5 HO nanotech lamps .

They WILL be running an AGROMAX UV and a 10000k FINISHER bulb.
2 foot bulbs .

They came with 2 6400k bulbs which in turn can be used ALONE for new starts , seedlings
OR for added BLUE to QB. This thing pretty much designed itself. Nanotech lamps will have one daisy chain connector and might make switched.

QB will be powered by
  • HLG-320H-C2800
  • Type B
  • Remote mount / remote dimmer

T5 AgroMax also has a VEG/UV that I might grab for experimenting.
So I will be able to run these combinations ...

UV ( only )
10000k ( only )
—————-
Dual 6400k
—-————
QB 96 elites ( only )

This will later on be the CENTER MODULE of a 4 panel QB288 3000k cri 90 set.
I already have the 4 so I will use them on a HLG-600H-54 also type b ( dimmer ).
No optics will be used. 24” between QB ... these also may get the quick disconnect harness I did on one of my original builds that had release for dimmer control and driver. So I can drop the core for straight 4 panel QB grows and using CORE for a supplemental in any other room or area.

Obviously this may be a little much but with the flexibility of running the core solo , or QB panels alone or in multiple configurations and power levels. The UV component will definitely have to have a short interval timer and have to get some eye protection. So experimenting will be done.

Thank @robincnn @Stephenj37826 for your great products and your dedication to the DIY builder.

Keep me in mind if you need some “ testing “ ... WINK WINK ... LOL.
Those Agromax bulbs do look like warp NaCells

My Mataro Blue finally bushed out a bit! Looks like I'm going to have to stake this one, damned branches would make good whips........LOL!

I moved the F1 Dreaming Ducks into the tent with her to be under 12/12, and also the 2 webbed leaf Azure Ducks. Hoping one is a male! If so he'll get moved to a cabinet I have just for breeding..

I upped the Megacrop for the MB to 600 ppms she looked like she wanted a little more. Her color is now what I feel to be perfect for this strain as she seems to be a bit Sativa dominant.

I've got a question for you guys or maybe @Stephenj37826 could give me some insight.
My apologies for a bit of a long post.

My bean' sprouted 4 weeks ago now. When I first put together my qb 320 I did not have a screwdriver to dim it. I also did not have a kill a watt meter.

The light was extremely bright so I figured it was at least half way on the driver or at full. I put the fixture at 36" until the hardware store opened in the morning. After I bought the screwdriver I dimmed the driver all the way and kept the fixture at 15". I finally got the kill a watt last tuesday (late ups shipping due to wild fires in Cali) and when I plugged it in I was getting 165 watts.

I kept the lights at 165w and 15" till last night. My plants started to flower so I decided to up the wattage to 230 and put the lights at 27" they seem to be doing very well as of my morning check.
(My Journal; https://www.rollitup.org/t/my-grow-journal.977937/page-3#post-14584231)

My question is, should I up the wattage in increments till I get to 320w and move the fixture if need be, or should I dim the fixture back down to 165w and lower the fixture? I'm still a bit confused on how led works for growing applications and want to make sure I'm giving the plants the best lighting.

I have read conflicting write up' regarding led wattage. Some articles have said run them at full wattage. while other have said you don't need to run led at high wattage to achieve good results. I've not been able to find anything to go off of for journals with the 320xl. The one I did find is for 561c.and it was from last year and abandoned. I have lm301b if that makes any difference? I'm not sure.

Any and all help is appreciated.

@Stephenj37826 do you know the inside diameter of the holes along the flange of the slate2 triple? I want to put groumets where I fed my wires through. I do not have a caliper to check. I bought a kit but none of the sizes fit. Also, if I decide to buy a few more boards will they all be from the same lot if purchased individually?
