DIY with Quantum Boards

Do surge protectors work for brown outs?....... that wouldn't make sense, probably thinking about expensive voltage regulator?" Line conditioner"? Idk, paging @nfhiggs for some clarification

Lost a fridge(compressor) due to this brownout shit over the winter.....was pissed
Brownouts often coincide with surges right before or after, so yeah a surge protector can help protect your stuff. Mean Well HLG drivers have automatic input voltage compensation so a mild brownout will generally not affect them. They will keep right on chugging as long as the voltage stays above 90 volts or so, below that I think they just shut down.

Use them cuz the idiot So Cal Edison ROUTINELY ( after a transformer , vault explosion, line flicker , and other shit ) does some line interruptions and do to them flipping on ... then not then On .. til on .

So I use on lines that DO NOT have gfi or trippers. So ONLY the strip will trip ... easy push fuse button back in and I’m golden.

Ok anda going to be wiring up my QBs

4* 288 v2's to a hlg480-2100c.

I planned on running them in series but should I link 1-2-3-4 or 1-2 and another loop 3-4 then back to ground?

There guide is a little confusing.
You would want all four in series with that driver. Driver+to board1+, board1- to board2+, board2- to board3+, board3- to board4+, board4- to driver-.

This thread is HLG's so if you want to promote other people's businesses, start your own thread, kinda rude to post them here. Or pm people if you really think its worth it. If we wanted strip lights, we wouldn't be in the QB thread!

There is a video of the 4x qb120s in a 4x4 and how to put it together ect. (I think is a bit of a slow veg but if you modified the frame for a 3x3 footprint I think the veg times would be pretty great.) You could even flower in that size pretty decently if you wanted to grab the 3000k instead (they still veg great too)

I'd go with a 4000k board and run them on a HLG-240h-2100a driver, with dimming capabilities with build in potentiometer on the driver. All for a total cost of about $230 usd after shipping. Any questions if you decide to go this route and I'd be happy to help.

~ Cheers PL

I wasn't promoting anybody's business. He asked what he could do for 300$ and I gave him some options. Regardless if its HLG's thread or not. I am going to throw out multiple options, and he can choose which would suit his area best.

Correct manners would have been to pm. Get off the subject so we don't derail the thread. I've seen it happen too much and escalate quickly. You can help us avoid that right here.

Please be chill dude.

I am chill. It could have been avoided by just not saying shit in the first place and minding ones own business. And no I amnot going PM him to give him suggestions about a light because im in an HLG thread.
There are plenty of people on here who have builds implementing QB's. Cobs. Strips, ect.

yes but they are not posting links to other companies selling competing products. How would you like it if this thread was for YOUR business? Just like you, I try to help when I can. I'm just asking you to be respectful to the thread owner. If my response wasn't polite enough for you, my apologies.

Im more than respectful lmao. I have purchased plenty of product through the company. Don't worry about what im doing and you'll be okay. If you don't like what I post, continue scrolling. I posted that link as an example of what can be done. Obviously there is the HLG website and their product are on display. Did you miss the part where I also said you could do the HLG 260 kit for around 300$?

Looking for a $300 setup to veg and flower in a 3x3space. Anyone have any build comparisons or parts lists to assemble a good modern light
Sorry, looking back at the question, it should actually be 4x qb120 boards in 3000k HLG 320h-2800a driver. That will run them at 69w each for you wired in series. That video should still help with a frame/accessories needed and how to wire the boards in series. Total price about $240-$245.

I'd also suggest getting a watt meter to help adjust that way, since a good par sensor can cost a good bit.

That's pushing the QB120s a bit more than HLG intended. I'd opt for a 4-pack of QB132s with an HLG-320H-36A.

On their website they have it listed as a driver option, as well as stating a 70w max. That's not even really counting them giving their normal safety range in stress tests.

I stick by my suggestion really only to hit his wants of flowering the space as well as sticking in the budget. And to also give him the widest dimming options, not saying it should be ran as high as it can for an entire grow. But options are appealing

So it does! Interesting. HLG used to list them at a max of 60w per board, without heatsinks (back when I bought mine). I don't see that driver listed though? I'd still go for the 132s though - same price, more diodes, higher capacity.
