Sigh.. moving on, now that this thread is ruined.

Memory has nothing to do with worthless threads, that would be the size of your database. And since I know vBulletin runs on MySQL, I know that even with millions of threads, you would likely not run out of memory or storage space.... Now on the other hand, if rollitup has an exponential number of users, and thusly an exponential number of HTTP requests, would be a valid reason for upgrading servers... yada yada yada...
