Cool-tube cooling, PUSH or PULL? etc.

I'm currently pushing my intake through my cool-tube to avoid the extra heat going through my centrifugal fan. Is that a good idea? I've seen good arguments either way, just wondering if someone could give a definitive answer?

As long as you are moving air at/above 130cfm, the heat buildup is not that great at all. I used a 230cfm axial fan, but in 6" duct you actually get about 165cfm +/- on a good day. I pulled air through a regular a/c filter , then about 4' of duct, then the cooltube and another 4-5' duct to the fan that was mounted above ceiling in the attic. It worked very well and I live where it gets near 100 most of the summer.
As long as the air is unrestricted and filtered just a bit ( keep a critter from getting into the fixture) all will be well.

The push vs pull depends on your fan design. If it looks like a fan then you don't want to push you want to pull, if it looks like a turbine/centrifugal fan it can push.

I pull from the cool tube and push into the carbon filter and use a speed controller. Did this based on reading through the threads on here. Works well.

I think science proved along time ago heat rises so i would say the fan mounted up high pulling makes the most sense.

You aren't considering that a person may use two different intake sources for air. To cool your lights the hot air from outside on a hot summer day is more than capable of cooling your lights, but you may not want to be pumping in 90f 80rh air into your room. You may cool your lights with outdoor air and exchange air with your home to keep the plants more easily in ideal ranges without AC/dehumidifiers attached to your grow area.

I'm drawing air through (3) 6" passive intakes. 540cfm Tjernlund fan with speed controller set at lowest setting mounted inside of tent pulls air from next to hood and pushes through cool-tube and out the top of the tent. No filter or carbon as of yet. I will upload a pic this evening.

I was having trouble with temps and tent implosion until I opened the third intake.

Yeah I was surprised at how cool the exhaust coming out of the cool-tube was. Not at all what I expected
