just wrapped up a 2x 12-bulb t5 grow. (2x 8bulbs and 2x 4bulbs, in 12bulb config.)
dried 15oz of sticky, dense, stanky, tastey flower;
making me more than stoked for my 2nd harvest!
was 4 different strains;
-Skywalker, OG Kush, LA Con, and Black Diamond.
All fem seeds from Sea of Seeds. all the seeds came up, except only 1/6 of LA Con :((( which of course turned out to be the highest quality flower out of them all...heh..isnt that how it always works?
anyways,
-media was self-mixed supersoil in EarthBoxes.
i would say now, that earthboxes are not very good to use inside, unless you have hid's and/or are manually changing out the resevoir, instead of waiting for it to evaporate/be sucked up.
The t-5's we use just dont have enough intensity to bump up our plants metabolism, or the evaporation in the room enough to drain the resevoir every 1-2days, so the water goes stagnant before it can be used.
In the end, i think i might have burned them a bit, and not flushed as much as i should have..
I also think i let them go a tad too long, but thats all part of growing, and learning about cannabis.
I'm just happy I came out with just shy of a pound, and its all better than what the clubs have around here haha.
-for nutes i used the full GH Flora-Series line, but instead of their 3-part Flora-g-b&m, i use the 2-part Floranova-g&b
-water was de-chlorinated water from a dual stage filter.

but of course, pics are proof!(:

sorry for the overload haha. kind of hard to summarize a grow in a couple pics!

please help!!! I currently am setting up(4) 2'x4' 8 bulb vho.it says it runs on 120volts.i believe the bulbs are 95 watts each.my question is can I put all 4 on a 20 amp circuit??how many amps are these ballast??there sunblaze t5 vho btw.i know you can figure out the watts to amps but im sure these are not super high amp ballast.im just about to put up the drywall and don't want to rip it down to add circuits.thanks alot

What you said makes no sense. Could I get a rephrase?

the conversion:

Watts = Amps x Volts (in this case, Amps = Watts/Volts)

so with your 120v power, and (x32)-95w bulbs totaling to 3040 watts, you would be pulling 26 amps max of power, which is over loading your 20 amp circuit.

are you sure each one of your bulbs draws 95watts of power? mine only drew 54w..but i just got whatever ones the hydro shop had.

I took 3 decent weight lower branches to a friend neglecting to weight them

117 gms, Pre-trim (not not much in weight there) but with full main stalk and missing ~ 4-6 gms wet

Should come out to a bit over an ounce

The other plant is roughly the same weight, maybe a bit less weight.

Assuming I end up with 2+ ozs, I'll be very happy with my first Hydro Halo endeavor

Keep in mind I put these clones into flower way early, as that room gets very hot. It was only 6 weeks ago that I got the ac on that side fixed, so no increased veg time

Their mother was ~ 43", these barely 2ft

I harvested this plant yesterday from my HOT5 tent using my version of the Hydro Halo Drip Ring system. I plan to use it in my LED tent next grow

I separated the net pot lid from the Air Pot, and noticed that ZERO roots had grown down into the lava rock in the Air Pot!

Imagine my surprise to see that this soft ball size mass of totally fluffy root hairs grew a ~ 125 gm wet (not counting roots) plant

Now there was a 4" air-gap between the Lava Rock inside the AP and the bottom of the net pot. We all know roots will grow toward water. The thing is, the water/nutes that cascaded down into the lava rock quickly drained back to the rez, and apparently, the roots had sufficient moisture on the few inches of lava rocks that I put inside the net pot, and simply did not need to grow any bigger.

Next grow I will fill the APs with lava rock, or I may try a new puffed clay type medium

Root Mass: Similar result from second plant. Roots mass was smaller, by half, as was plant weight. Again, there was a ~ 4" gap between lava rock in the Air Pot and the bottom of the net pot. Next go round I will fill that gap. Looking into Growstones. Might try one AP with Growstones the other with lava rock

Just going to get my t5 set going. For vegging. I have access to some freebies fixtures. What's the concensus on flowering this route too? Currently using cfls.

Anybody want a good package deal on an 8 bulb x 4ft Quantum BadBoy, plus a whole bunch of tubes? I won't be using it anymore, though it has severed me very well. I bought it a couple years ago after discovering my UFO 90 led did not cover the area the advertising said it would, and I wanted to fill a 2 x 4 area.

I added a second tent in which I began LED experiments using household globes + my ufo 90. This grow I added 4 @ 4ft 20w tubes and did not add the ufo until very late and only over one plant

I ran same clones under both the leds and 324w HOT5, using high performance aquarium bulbs, but the grow methods were vastly different.

The HOT5 was grown via a high performance grow system, whereas the LED tent was a simple DWC bubbler. Future grows will utilize the high performance Hydro Halo Drip (used as Spray) set up. That alone could significantly close the gap between the HOT5s and the LEDs

LED

110w was not enough to equal 324w, BUT, based on what I am seeing, ~160-175w would. If that's not exciting enough, half the electricity and 10xs the bulb life!

A few more days to harvest the LED/Bubbler clones

OK I want to try and get a definitive answer if at all possible, I have 2X4X6ft 6 inch high grow tent. I made a 12 light over head fixture of 6 two bulb T5 HO.. What is the best bulb combo for vegging and what to add for flowering. Right now I have 6500k in all 12 lights giving out over 54000 lumens when I open the tent I need sunglasses. I was going to for flowering 4 6500k and 8 2700k.. Any recommendations.

I found a used 4bulb 48in Odyssea 216w fixture with moon light LED's for $120, and a 8 bulb sun tek 48in 432w for $300, unsure of bulbs in this one, sent the guy an email to ask. Would either of these be a good buy for mother and clones in a DIY aero cloner?

You don't need 4ft tubes for veg unless you have ~ 4ft of veg pots. These are under @30w of led globes

i am wanting to do a SoG, i am thinking between 50-75 clones in aero tubes, two 600w. I wasnt sure how many mothers i would need to accomplish that. I will only have two strains. I have been searching around for a grow doing this but nothing i find really shows how many clones people are getting off each mom. I only do two runs a year so i dont have alot of time for trial and error. My last run was pretty disappointing tried the 12/12 from seed vertical, perpetual in coco. Going back to my old ways aero like the stinkbud system. appreciate any help someone can give.

HPA lends itself to SOG, but so many variables can F your grow up. Make your totes and lid out of ~2" @ 4 x 8 foam board with one surface metalized should keep the roots happy

this is my third grow by no means an expert. first two were hps/mh 400 watt, Two bucket recirculation 13 gallon res, gh three part nutes, Diy water chiller [Works great] no more frozen water bottles:) Johnson water temp control. So i thought i would try T5s bought 4 foot, 6 bulb enviro grow system. wow plants are loving it.I keep the lights about 4 inches from canopy seems too do the trick. No stretching very impressed... Just not sure about flowering with them does anybody have any results flowering with t5s...... or should i stick with my HPS..IMG_1772[1].jpgIMG_1773[1].jpgIMG_1775[1].jpgIMG_1777[1].jpgIMG_1780[1].jpgIMG_1781[1].jpgIMG_1782[1].jpgIMG_1786[1].jpgIMG_1788[1].jpgIMG_1787[1].jpg

Yay t5s! heres a few snaps of my set up! 2 2ft 4 tubes T5HO that sit about 4 inches above 3 gal pots. im growing two Sage 'N Sour along with two Auto Northern Lights. IMG_1225.jpgIMG_1228.jpgIMG_1230.jpg

and as far as ive researched its more than fine to use T5s for vegging and flowering (a quick read through this thread and seeing that questions over and over). A lot of growers will say t5 light doesnt penetrate deep enough but its how you use the light to your advantage. if t5s are used in a scrog, the your yield increases considerably! This allows for more of a even light distribution along with creation of more budsites!

I can officially say that I'm in the T5 club now, hooray!
I have 2, 192W 2 ft. 8 lamp, fixtures.
Well, one of them has two busted lamps, so it's only like 145W.
It still works fine for veg though.
