I totally agree. My plants look pretty nice too, even under cheap blurples. Just short but bushy and I don't quite understand why leds do that. So I was wondering if anybody ever tried supplementing led with a tiny 70 watt MH or Hps? And if so, did it at enough to prevent that shortness?

I found the same when I started and realized the plants didn't really have any motivation to grow taller since they were getting beyond plenty of light. I had my lights 10" away. When I moved the lights to 18" to 24" they shot up. Mid-way through my first grow I realized that vipar actually recommended 36" away while in veg!

Now that I have more control I keep my COBs at about 18" dialed down to 70% power.

If you want longer internodes either raise the light higher, increase red spectrum, or decrease blue spectrum.

It has nothing to do with motivation. It's specified Blu:red spectrum for short internodes that causes this.

Can't increase red or blue and the panel hangs 3 feet above the plants. Manufacturer says 24" in veg..

I'm almost pondering to put a sheet of plexiglas between it to make it weaker.

What led do you have 36" over your plants that is causing them to be too short/bushy? That seems pretty far away too be causing that. Could be genetics.

This one :

Mine has no veg/bloom buttons tho.

I doubt it's genetics... Purpke kush, white widow and specially the sour diesel should've a tad taller.

418 watts over what size grow area? 3' should be a sufficient amount of room though.

I got 3 plants under it in a 4x4 tent. Obviously the plants don't take up 4x4 lol
Yea, you'd think 3' would make them stretch a bit, but nuh uh ..

No three feet seems about right. You could still raise them higher if you want more stretch. That light might cover most a a 4x4 flowering. It looks like it was designed for a 2x4 as it's a rectangle.

If I was to start over from day 1.. when I first started growing (I only use LED's and started with them).. First one I bought was a cheap (69.99$) ufo the brand is called ocean revive and they dont sell on amazon anymore.. well... it worked somewhat good but it's actual wattage was only 93.. that ocean revive 180 watt ufo would do 1 plant decent (1-2 oz dry),

well... 2 weeks ago I bought a mars hydro 300...

I personally own the mars 300 and my friend owns the vipraspectra..... My mars 300 seems to just be more powerful and overall run better.

Here is a grow finishing up under a single mars 300 .... for most of the grow it was grown under that cheap 180 watt ufo.

If I were you. I would buy the mars 300 ... If you have amazon prime and maybe without prime Im not sure... You can right now get a mars 300 for 79$ off of amazon. thats where I got mine and I would get yours from amazon and not ebay.

for what the light is.. the mars 300 is the best light for the money.

I would buy the mars 300 if I was you. You will like the light.

That close up nug shot is the smallest bottom nug on a trans siberian autoflower plant

You could also do what Im doing now to expand your area and do more plants or have more light on one plant.

I now use 180 watt ufo and the mars 300 together. I'm doing 2 plants under that. I could do 3 but im just gonna finish off this auto then switch lights to 12/12 and finish off this blue mystic I've topped 4 times and vegged for 5 weeks.

If I had 150$ to spend I would buy 2 mars 300's

here is the blue mystic thats been topped 4 times

I picked up this cheap led and it got here today, cheap as it is used. Draws just 135w from the wall.

A Nice addition to the collection of blurple leds
