Changing from HPS to LED......is he nuttz ?

:wall: A friend and Riu user i know who has some exsperience growing indoors and out, in different climates is changing his light set up for LED's , have the chinese whitecoats gotten to him or am i missing the boat ????????????your comments please , no salesman need reply :clap:
 
the chinese have got to him mate trust me you ll get nothin but fluffy bud from led s, hps or natural sun is the way to go and any1 that tells you diffrent is a bum they are ok for percy growers that arent to worried about weight but theres nothin out there that beats hps or natural sun for speed and solid bud imo!!

If you are trusting this guy then you are trusting someone who doesn't know what they are talking about concerning LED grow lights. Good LED lights can grow great buds, you just have to know which company to buy them from. Here are some links to completed journals which used the same LED lights start to finish.

There are a lot of great finished journals over at 420 magazine using LED lights. The first plant of the month to be grown using LED lights over at that site was done by Irishboy

There are great LED lights available now and the only reason to go with HID instead is upfront costs. In the long run LED lights can be cheaper (no bulbs to replace, no powerful fans to cool bulbs, no venting, >66% less heat watt for watt). They cost a lot upfront but they grow more higher quality budd watt for watt than HID now (although the difference isn't really that much).

I'm not a salesman. I didn't even begin to suggest what brand of LED to buy

Or is someone that counters a claim that LED can't grow with proof that they can automatically a salesman? I mean you are asking if he is a fool and I am showing you that unless he picked a crappy brand he is not a fool because LED lights CAN grow as well if not better than HID watt for watt

I would say your friend isn't a fool, and you are not missing out. The upfront costs are pretty high to get an LED set up that grows as much as an HID set up, but there are advantages to LED. But really unless you are having problems with heat and the noise involved with taking care of that heat there isn't really enough reasons to switch to LED (something a salesman wouldn't say)

Sounds like you already have your mind made up and if they don't agree with you your just going to overlook the input from them. Seems that he is saying that nt all LEDs are good and showed you some examples of what he believes are quality lights.

I'vve never used LEDs before so I have no opinion. If they can produce like that though I would be interested in them. They have their pros and cons just like everything maybe for your friend they will be better than an HID, don't knock it till you try it.
 
I know some pros that have been growing for decades now use LED but they will not argue that it is better then hps only that it is good enough for their needs.
 
ive seen some great LED grows on here. maybe theres a reason he is switching from a HPS to LED? like he wont have a big room to grow in anymore, and its hard to control HPS heat in a small closet, which is where LEDS are perfect because they produce minimal heat.
 
They'll do just fine, under quality LEDs, as long as he intends to replace the HPS, watt for watt,(or close) and doesn't go by any of this "90% more efficient" crap.lol :razz:

how are they better thooooo??? they dont penetrate as much as a hid bulb, you cant put as many plants under them so....plus growing in a shoe box dont appeal to me , do u no how much i smoke for Fucks sake ?? i know a breeder in Portugal and in Amsterdam , tell me this , why are there no LED's hanging in there labs ???? bold statements need backup .....

i have yeah , the first 1 showed an experiment hps v led in a split room the size of 2 shoe box's , so????? of course they perform the same in a box , probs better as the whole temp thing, hps in a box is overkill, any dingo know's that lol , tell you what , come hang them gay panels in my flower room ...any idea what my reply would be ....""AWWWW pretty colours dude!! NOW get those xmas tree lights the feck outa here =D""
