CFL Wrap Around

Here's some new pics. Same plants as last time, but notice the really lanky plant, with the wispy buds. That's Geronimo.

I accidentally bread a Dutch Treat plant, with a Ty-Light plant. So this plant is about 50/50 Indica/Sativa. Hence why it's shooting up 10'' above the rest of the canopy. Buds look wispy but he's only 3 weeks into flowering so final yield looks like it could be promising. I'm not sure how long to flower a 50/50, but I'm thinking 9 weeks should give an super light, and heady, high.:joint:

My oldest Shiva is getting more orange hairs, and fan leaves are turning slightly yellow from all the molasses.

Also that little top cola, is from my 7'' Shiva plant. Grown from seed, she's 3 weeks into flowering and is fully grown. I'm not sure I would need to spend extra cash for lowryder genetics when it's possible to make 7'' tall plant with mostly any strain. Maybe I should have bread this little gal with one of the males. Oh-well, next time.

looking good, like the indica/sativa cross, just read a scary seed story(with LEO) and may be doing my own crosses for a while
yellowing fans shouldn't be from the molasses, more likely a maturity indication, plant closing down the fans to feed the buds

I like to harvest at 7 weeks, but I will let a few go to 8 or 9 weeks depending on bud growth, and the plants individual history. I have to say I like the high better, when the plant is harvested earlier than later. But I can have both.

That's in about 18 days for my oldest plant, the less mature buds still need another month at least, as they about 3 weeks into flowering.

I just built a carbon scrubber out of a $30 air purifier (with ionizer) + a second carbon filter for the purifier + tape + the box that it came in. That's it. The McGiver scrubber is also an exhaust for my chamber. I'll be amazed if it works that well. But if it does, in my mind it is the simplest scrubber design I've heard of.

It will probably suck, but maybe I'll post some photos so yall can have a little chuckle.

Alright here's the pictures of my $32 "carbon scrubber." You'll notice the intake vent is shoved through a opening cut into my garbage bag wall. The actual air purifyer itself is half in in it's box, half out. I simply cut the shape of it into the box, and taped around the edges. The purifier brings air out of my chamber into it's own box, where it swirls a little and passes through another spare filter I inset into the top of the box. In all the air passes through 2 filters, the ionizer, and finally a dryer sheet taped above the second carbon filter.

It's a perfect exhaust system and the smell is reduced quite a bit, but not entirely eliminated.

My oldest Shiva is just a week away from it's 7 week target. Buds are starting to fill-out finally.

The younger buds are starting to get going too, but still are 3- 4 weeks away from harvest.

Has anyone tried using this Ona Block? I'm going to try putting some in my exhaust chamber, maybe it will help.

shiva is pic #2? looks the most well developed
if you can remember to, after you sample shiva, write a smoke report. :)
can't help much with odor control other than if you want to try nl#5 - its smell is just about undetectable - it's really that low

Sorry, pic 1 and 2 are the same plant. Its a 6 week flowering, 12'' tall shiva.

pic 3 is a 7' tall, 4 week flowering Shiva.

Growone, what is nl#5? Is that a strain of "Northern Lights" number 5 or something?

a good question - i can only pass on what i've gleaned
the original northern lights(#1 i think) came from the murky depths of washington state(seattle?)
primarily indica of some sort - preserved as clone only in its pure form
#5 was bred with the #1 as parent - might have thai in its parentage among other things
in any event, #5 is supposed to have a bit more 'head', a little less body high - and the very low odor
mine is from the breeder highgrade - i like what i see so far

Liking the grow allot
mollases cant really hurt your plants in anyways
(gives them sugar to make flower to much sugar they just dont use it)
1 or 2 tablespoons per gallon of water
an the difference was nticable for me
crsyals and resins were evident
and i have done with an with out noticable
but I enjoyed this thread
suprised there are not more people but good job
ill subscribe for the end :-P

Thanks Irg,

Ya, I like molasses too, I mix it with 0-9-0 Bat Guano, and make a delicious tea. for a plant anyway.:spew:

Like many cannabis farmers, I just enjoying experimenting with all this stuff. I'm going to build a DIY Bubbleponic system for my next grow.
I like flowering multiple strains at once, at all different ages, and discussing medium to advanced CFL growing.

But it has been a struggle to get people to visit this thread . I think I might need to make a new thread with flashier name. lol

Alright. Here's a 'Shiva' plant which has been topped, which I was worried was not growing bud for a while.

But I realize now I probably shouldn't have put it into flowering just 2 days after I topped it. Seems to delay flowering a bit. Now it's looking pretty good. It's just starting to show some orange hairs, and looks to be about 2-3 weeks away from harvest.

actually, this is a great example of something i'm going to try in my next grow
put into 12/12 and top at the same time - it supposedly can reduce stretch a lot
very useful for growing sativa dominant strains with limited available height
very curious how tall your shiva will finish at

Well Growone, I can tell you this indica dominant plant only increased about 4 inches during flowering, so this would be ideal for limited space grows. Another plant which I began flowering @ only 18 days from seed, grew to only 7" tall, fully grown. Looks just like it could be lowryder genetics.

I sure wish I could post some photos though. Do you need to resize your photos before hand, or does rollitup automatically do that> All of a sudden I can't post photos and the attachment manager just says "contacting to rollitup..." but never does anything.

I guess I might need to resize each photo in photoshop:confused:

Here's some of the other plants from my 8 total. These guys are younger, and about 3-4 weeks from harvest, but are coming along. I mentioned before, I hope I get at least 2oz from these 8 gals, so that's the goal, in case you just joined us. Things that could hamper me getting to 2oz's are: #1 I'm too cheap to buy a good PH meter. #2 There's a few mites bitting the fan leaves of my plants. #3 my temp runs pretty steady from 88-90o in the mid-day, which is a little hot.

What am I doing about these problems?
Well I'm not getting any richer, so expensive PH unit is out of the picture. Today I sprayed plants lightly with a tabacco and soap mixture on the bottom of some fans leaves, so hopefully I killed a few mites. And as far as temps, I dont have an airconditioner, so when it gets really hot during the summer, me, my two bearded dragons, and my pot plants all have to suffer through a little heat. The lizards and the plants seem to be coping with this heat wave better than I am anyways. I did replace 2, 26 watt bulbs with 13 watters today so hopefuly this will help a bit, but I doubt it.

Despite these hotter temps, f'n mites, and plain tap water, the plants are chuggin' along nicely i would say.

lots of pics, some good looking ladies showing up
a 4 inch stretch during flower - that's low beyond belief - not sure how that could happen
my nl#5, a squat indica in its own right, went from 5 inches to 29 inches during flower - about 6x
for ph, i use ph drops($5) - real accurate - test water going in and coming out

Ya, I probably should just suck-it-up, and buy a good quality PH test unit.

A major part of the reason why my shrub plant only stretched 4" was exactly that had topped it. twice. So it had 4 tops it had to grow, plus I'd topped only 2 days before going into flowering, this seemed to really stunt it.

Not sure if I'll lose much yield do to stress from the topping, but the, even light coverage, and the more balanced spectrum seems to be making up for it. Although this plant did not start vigerously flowering right away, so the topping thing seemed to slow things a little at firsts, this plant should be my biggest producer out of the 8. But maybe not, we'll have to see. Topping has not undenyibly proven to produce more bud, it depends how you take advantage of the plants new shape I think.
