Canadian Company To Develop A Cannabis Breathalyzer

The doctors all got scared by their stupid college. My doctor's exact words were, "I would have no problem doing this myself, but I don't know how to prescribe a THC or grams/day amount." I told her she can put 1 in each field because I'm going to a compassion club anyways, but she wasn't comfortable doing that.

It's about not using an ....excuse ....for a reason to not do your job
I find it hard to believe anyone growing up in canada
Has not had at least some exposure
To MJ. Doctor or not

Risk their job??
You cant swing a dead cat without hitting a city begging for more doctors. If every doctor grew a set of nuts no one would be able to tell them anything.
But not many drs are going to stand up to their bosses just like every other industry.
Plus theres the threats of pharma and their kick backs

Correct. But when you lose your job you can't just hop a city over - the college can really fuck up your day.
My doctor's primary issue was that she's seen too many people abuse it (young people) and become schizo or try other things, etc etc.
She has absolutely no problem with cancer patients, terminal, constant pain, etc - just won't prescribe it to someone who isn't at "the end" of the pharmaceutical options yet. Technically speaking, this is what their college and the law require.

Actually the info on the health canada page and pamphlets says you need to fit into one of many criteria not be "at the end."
The subject of mj an sadly even med mj is a political hot potatoe that no one wants to be responsible for.
Besides if something is not medicine then why even prescribe it to anyone.
I was told by my lawyer that if i want to be a dick they can force my family dr to sign but i dont think many people would choose to go that route.

It's not about education, it's about liability.
Liability is not a one way street though. They took an oath to help their patients. Denying medication that clearly helps and is pretty well established as effective treatment (in some specific situations) lieu of drugs that are not near as effective and can also potentially kill you? They're more concerned about the college pulling their licenses than they are liability from patients. I doubt if they've really considered their potential liabilities to be completely honest with you.

No case has been put forward of this nature, but I think it's only a matter of time. There was a guy in Quebec being denied after being in the program for years because their entire college completely disavowed the drug - he had MS (which is quite well established as being a problem specifically with the Endo cannabinoid system and Cannabis is a well studied treatment that has proven effective, even if it is not well accepted at this point). Since he's been denied his quality of life has declined incredibly dramatically. Easily observable.

Unless your in the medical industry you really cant understand all that entails. I have a dea license allowing me do what i do, should i lose that or any other requirement i will no longer have a job in this field, anywhere.. the consequences of not covering your ass in this industry are perhaps the harshest of any. And the population has no clue what goes on behind the scenes making matters worse. No doctor or whatever would purposely deny you something they believed would benefit. They are good people, becoming a doctor doesnt make you loose ideals and crap...

look at the girl in Alberta...they are denying her MMJ so it stops her seizures...it's absolutely crazy how they have proof MMJ works but then someone else comes in and says it doesn't. i love Canada but our Government doesn't do the smartest things...and that's why we sue.
when Richot from HC said "we didn't know it had to be constitutional" that blew me away...and she was IN CHARGE!

There is good ones and bad ones....there are many that lose their balls, perhaps due to the massive student debt load that weighs around their necks.
