Hey guys,
So a user recently posted a link to site, http://www.dodoglass.com, that offered very low prices on glass pieces (compared to most head shops). I looked through the website a bit, and when I read the "about us" section, there were some similarities to Northwest Glass Art (http://www.northwestglassart.com).
Northwest glass's disclaimer:
"You need to be at least 18 year's old (21 in some area's) to purchase tobacco products"
Dodo glass's disclaimer:
"All Products Intended and Sold For Legal Purposes to over 18 year's old (21 in some area's) Only!"

Northwest glass's return policy:
"Northwestglassart.com stands by all of our products."
Dodo glass's return policy:
"DodoGlass stands by all of our products."

It's kind of obvious its just another Northwest glass scam site. Even their layouts are nearly identical. I e-mailed Dodo Glass's customer service and asked whether they were linked to Northwest Glass Art, to which he replied "No Sir we are not"... right .

So why's it such a big deal, well for those who don't know, Northwest Glass Art selectively scams people. Just try typing "Northwest Glass Art scam" in Google and you'll see tons of results from message board posts of users who never received their stuff. Not to mention they have an "F" rating with the BBB and several complaints filed against them (http://www.bbb.org/western-washington/business-reviews/pipes-and-smokers-articles/northwest-glass-art-in-lynnwood-wa-41001526).

Buyer beware, do a few quick searches on Google before ordering anything online. I wish users who post links to headshops/glass blowers would actually say whether they've actually had any experience ordering from the shop.

First of all you're wrong. We are not affiliated with dodo. They have copied and pasted verbatim, stolen product names, etc.

Secondly, google Ed Magedson, owner of rip off report. He is trying to extort money from us to remove the bogus complaints. $10,000 + $300 a month montioring fee "to put a positive spin on things" We are not allowed to reply to the complaints either, or we would.

Third, that BBB rating is based on one incident. I'll pay them , become a member and it will be an A rating. That'll be the end of that.

We've been in business for 10 years using the same credit card processor. Do you think they would allow us to rip people off for 10 years?

Please get all of your facts straight before you defame someone.

So all 22 of those complaints are bogus??
Im saying not one of those people got ripped off.... Im a little tired right now so I am just going to copy and paste what I said in another forum...

Hello,

This is the owner of Chunky Glass Pipes (Yes, I own both Chunky and Northwest.)
And I take exception to being called a scammer. I have never scammed anyone in my life. I realize there are some bogus things said about our company. This is a very frustrating situation for us and any chance I get to clear our name I do.

These rumors stem from rip off report and a bunch of fabricated reports about us there. First off PLEASE google Ed Magedson, owner of rip off report. He is the biggest crook of them all! In order to even rebut the bogus claims against us at rip off he wants $10,000 and a $300 a month "maintenance fee" and in return they will "put a postive spin on things" I refuse, even though I've lost much more than that. :spew:

Im not here to shill anything or to convince you to buy from us. I just want it known we dont rip people off!!! I have had the same credit card processor for 10 years! What cc company would allow you to rip people off for 10 years? And obviously you cant just keep getting merchant accounts. It doesnt work that way. In fact, there are only a handful that allow you sell what we sell.

Now with that said, I must say that at times customer service has been a weakness. That has since been fixed. But you're always going to have unreasonable customers who cant be any sort of patient or reasonable. And they'll see the stuff said about us and even add to it. For instance this happens ALL THE TIME! Customer places orders friday night, uses 2-3 day priority shipping and is upset(nice way to put it) when its not there Monday.... This is where we run into problems. They search and find the negative posts. They freak out. They post there own "rip off report" and when they receive their order, they cannot update their "report". Go ahead and try it. I dont care at this point whats one more gonna really hurt? And it proves they're crooked....Thanks to the forum mods in advance for letting me defend myself!

WE DONT RIP PEOPLE OFF.

But lets say we did. Lets say we have some magical way of processing credit cards. EVERY credit card/debit card company/bank insures you against fraud. Why wouldnt you just simply dispute the charges and be done with it? These people went on for months about it. You wanna know why? THEY WERE NEVER CHARGED! THATS WHY!

Every order placed via credit/debit card goes through a process called a pre-authorization. This means that sometimes, but not always, there is a hold put on those funds, from your bank, until we actually push the order through. Which is only done right before we box up the order.

What really happened? Terrible customer service, bottom line. We grew big time and were sorely under-staffed and unprepared for that type of growth. In addition, some of the people we tried hiring are now our competition and stole their starting inventory from us. If you look hard enough you can spot them. I've tried family members, everything. I finally found two great people and we now have solid customer service.

Yett this still lingers like an egg fart from a fat guy on 747. And there's not much I can do about it except this right here and have kick ass service and product so it gets out that we actually do kick ass. But sadly, people are much more prone to complain than praise. So it will be a process....Thanks to the Mods for letting me once again defend our reputation!

I had a great experience with DodoGlass also. I found them responsive via email and the shipping was fast.

Not sure what the actual complaint above was...

I also had good experiences with National Tobacco Alliance and Super Piece. Plus the online auction sites (ebay, eCrater, etc...) also have stuff, you just have to know where and how to look.:weed:

its clear those last 2 post were people working for dodoglass or something since they only have 1 post. does anyone reliable have any experience with dodo glass>>>>?????

I read everything about northwest glass arts and decided to try it for myself. I ordered a glass dragon pipe from their site and recieved it yesterday. It hits amazing and looks really cool.

I don't work for any of them I just remember reading all these forums and getting pretty nervous that my pipe may never show up. But the truth is the shipping was rather fast and they send you a link to your email so you can even track your package... also they have a customer support hotline.

Would I order from them again?
Yeah. :bigjoint:

P.S. if you think i'm fake because of my post count you can email me or something and I can prove that I'm real.

Can you scam anymore lol, you defend yourself with a copy and paste because your too tired? if you really wanted to defend your self you woudn't copy and paste. I just ordered a pipe Fri .from Dodo and their awesome website WITHIN A DAY had my order confirmed, an order number and a UPS tracking number. The thing already left and is en route...cant get much better than that. My blue double perc pipe will be here oct. 2 acc to the tracking info....so far this site is shaping up to be my go to pipe site...cheap as shit prices, fast service and so far nothing at all to seem nervous about.

This is my first time ordering or even hearing of them...this is awesome because the pipe i bought for 79.99 would easily be 150-200 in my local rip off head shop..but hey, ripping off is what head shops are all about. fuckin 600% markup on everything sure sounds fair!

If the shit hits the windmill w my order, believe me, I will be back on here to shit talk as much as possible but so far, seems awesome.

I'd like to post my recent experience with ChunkyGlassPipes.com (also owned by NWGA) I placed my order on Sept. 23rd, 2009.

I ordered this 2 piece set (Tesla Coil Bubbler and Mini Tesla Coil Pipe Set). The price at the time I ordered was $29.99. It has since gone up. I also ordered a replacement glass slide for $9.99.

Sept 29 I get an email from CGP ([email protected]):
"we are out of the tesla coil bubbler set if u would like something else let me know thx"

So I looked back at their site and tried to find something else I would like instead for about the same price (no problem, I thought).

Sept 30 I sent this email to CGP:
"I would also like the loopty loop sherlock bubbler and a 3.75" pipe. Could you send me those instead? Thanks"

Only two hours later, I got this email from CGP:
"we are out of the loopty loops also"

So I checked the CGP site again for another item I would consider as an appropriate replacement. I also checked to make sure these items were listed as "In Stock" on their site, and they all were.

The same day, I emailed them this:
"The Fumey Dot Glass Sherlock Bubbler 7" is the only other one I really like in that price range, I hope you have it in stock. I'll accept it as a replacement.
Tesla coil pipe 3.75"
9mm replacement bowl (blue) Thanks for getting back to me quickly :)"

Oct. 1 I got this email from CGP:
"we are out of the fumey dots anything else"

The same day I emailed CGP:
"What bubblers do you have in stock? Could you just give me a list? thanks"

I thought if they could just tell me what they had in stock, I could pick from that list, since, obviously, their site was not updated with what was actually in stock.

Oct. 2 I get this email from CGP:
"i have a gold fumed sherlock, inside out sherlock, rasta sherlock bubbler"

I didn't want any of these, so the same day I emailed back:
"No thanks, please cancel my order for now. I am interested in several of the bubblers on your site chunkyglasspipes.com, please let me know when it is updated with which ones you currently have in stock, or feel free to send me a complete list of all the bubblers you have in stock. I'd really like one. Thanks"

Oct. 6 I get this email from CGP:
"Thank you again for your order from Chunky Glass Pipes! The following items have been shipped to: (my address) (they also included a USPS tracking #)"

They sent me an email that they shipped my Tesla Coil Bubbler and Mini Tesla Coil Pipe Set and glass slide that I had originally ordered! Huh? I thought you just said you were out of stock? And, besides, 3 days earlier I had asked you to cancel my order!

So I quickly sent this email:
"I received 3 emails from you stating that you did not have these items in stock. I asked for a refund. Today I got an email from you stating that the items have been shipped. Did you get the correct items in?"

And this email:
"I asked for you to please cancel my order since you did not have any of the 3 glass bubblers I requested. Today I received an email stating that you shipped my items. Did you get the correct items I ordered in stock or something? WHat did you ship to me? thanks for your help"

Oct 7 10:07am CGP emails me:
"our items came in and your order was shipped"

So, I thought, well, cool, I'll finally get my glass that I ordered! I live within 20 minutes of the CGP business address, so I knew my glass would come very soon, and it did!

I got my order Oct 7th, examined it, and then sent this email to CGP regarding what I had received:
"Hi I received my order today. The pieces look very nice, however, the bubbler has two cracks in the bowl. Also, I ordered the tesla coil bubbler and pipe set. Neither of these pieces is the tesla coil, and they do not match eachother anyway. I hang out and post at hipforums.com and I can see that you have been backed up with orders, so I understand the mixup. I hope you can remedy my problems. Thanks"

Here is the bubbler they actually sent me. This bubbler is smaller, cheaper, two cracks in the bowl, a small chip below the carb, and the carb was way too small to function properly, that said, the piece looks nice, and was thick enough. The glass pipe was not what I ordered at all, either. It is clear glass. The glass slide was fine (outside glass).

Oct 7 3:04 pm I get this email from CGP:
"yes everything came over the weekend and your order was shipped"

Oct 7 3:33 pm I sent this email:
"The bubbler has two cracks in the bowl. Neither of these pieces is the tesla coil, which is what I ordered. I hope you can remedy my problems. Thanks"

Oct 8 I sent this email:
"You did NOT send the items I ordered. One of the pieces of glass has two cracks and a chip in it. These are NOT what I ordered. I paid via credit card. I would appreciate a replacement of the cracked glass bubbler, otherwise I will have to dispute this charge with Visa. Please let me know when you will send the replacement."

I have not heard back from CGP since. And the last email I sent bounced back!

If the glass wasn't cracked, I would still be upset that I didn't receive the pieces I ordered, but at least I wouldn't have felt so ripped off.

The package was packed well, the glass was all wrapped very tightly in lots of bubble wrap.

I called their phone number Oct 16th, but just got voice mail. I'll try again on Monday.

I won't order from them again.

I just called Dodo Glass using the number on their website, and the guy said he is not NWGA, he said he is their main competition, and that NWGA does not answer their phone. He also said they have a retail location in Everett, and the address is on the Dodo glass site. I can see it on Google Street View.
