Butters' 400w SCROG Perpetual w/ Coco Hempy Style - Various Strains

OK, that just gave me the funniest visual. If anyone ever tries to take my pot, I'll just beat them on the head with the biggest cola I've got! Who needs weapons when they're growing?

Well it is really not necessary to hit someone with the main cola. Unless your plan is to kill the person. I am not sure what kind of dinky main colas you guys have but the ones i have in my "imagination land" garden are so big that one would die.

The best thing to use pot as a weapon is to smoke it and turn into superman depending on the strain, some might actually turn u into something gay like Robin (bat's kick).

My personal favorite is using all the popcorn buds as mini rocks to stun people when i feel attacked. Also be sure to not hit them in the eyes or they will die.

Damn this OG is bomb.

oh yes mate.....very nice. I somehow missed your thread, but I'm glad to be here now. Awesome SCROG you got going on dude! :joint:
Hey SnowWhite!

I have been silently peeled to your journal to see how your SSH does in the coco. I have a fem'd seed of SSH and am completely psyched to get something perpetual going with it. Damn that long flowering time and lack of scrogging-ability of that strain! :bigjoint:

Also, although some people would probably "yell" at me for doing this, I very lightly feed my cuttings. I mix a double dose of nutes for a gallon, but in a 1 litre soda bottle, which I keep in the fridge. When I feed them, I add 1-2 oz. (depending on what they appear to need) of this mix into a 20 oz. water bottle, then give that to the cuttings. (There were eight cuttings in all, hence the full 20 oz. bottle of water. lol) I've found, for me, that they take root very easily and remain very green when I do it this way. No more yellowing or dying leaves on my cuttings since I started this light feeding. Any stronger than this and I'm sure they'd burn like hell, though. (A very light feeding like this is especially helpful for hydro or coco, as there's of course no natural nutrition in there like there is in good soil.) I also add 1 oz. of the concentrated nute mix in the fridge to my 32 oz. spray bottle, and use that for misting my cuttings and my plants in veg. They love this, too.

The AG is awesome for cloning and seedlings, ain't it?
Wow Kat, thanks. Boy am I ever glad your computer is up and workin again. ;-)

And crap...I forgot to poke holes in those cups. I have been "burping" them a coupla times a day at least. Worst thing is though....the clear cup I put on that clone is too darn small . It looks like an elephant is being forced to live in a small studio apartment.

Very uplifting to hear that you have succesfully cloned that late in flower. They look good too. Nice and happy. The really light feeding makes total sense to me too. I still have plenty of FF veg nutes that I can probably introduce at a very low dose.

And yes. I still love my aerogarden....ummm....rather my wife's aerogarden that she got sick of and I started experimenting in ;-). I was worried that I wouldn't have use for it again after I finished a grow in it and started dating DWC (we eventually decided to see other mediums...). The AG seems to be a wonderful cloning device. The person who gave it to my wife as her shower present probably had no idea what we'd end up using it for. ;-)

LOL! I just woke up (still have the flu, what can even slightly resemble a sleep "schedule" for me is worse than ever right now), and when I first read this, I didn't notice the "imagination land" portion of your post. Needless to say, my initial thought was, "Braggart much?" It must be bomb! :bigjoint:

Wow Kat, thanks. Boy am I ever glad your computer is up and workin again. ;-)
Thanks! So am I. ;) I've still got a huge learning curve ahead of me (switched to Linux), but at least I can get online now! Next step: finding an image editor that doesn't take hours to find how to do just one thing, so I can resize and post photos again. ASAP!

And crap...I forgot to poke holes in those cups. I have been "burping" them a coupla times a day at least. Worst thing is though....the clear cup I put on that clone is too darn small . It looks like an elephant is being forced to live in a small studio apartment.
Know what? About twenty minutes ago I discovered that I'd put regular cups over my new NL cuttings, instead of one of my ventilated ones! Just switched them, so at least they won't suffocate now. They get burped daily anyhow, since I lift the cups for misting. But if I have to take off for some reason, there'd be no one here to burp them... plus this flu had me literally invalid for days, and if I'd have taken those cuttings before I got sick, they could have suffered from it as I didn't go near my plants for a few days. NOTE TO SELF: Must remember to check cups for holes before placing over cuttings and seedlings!

I took longer cuttings than I normally do, simply because the side shoots were nice and long. (About six inches before going into the coco, probably about three inches above the coco now.) The cups are just a tad small, but not really too much so. The leaves are against the sides a bit, and look a bit crowded, but they're doing fine. Unless it's way too crowded in there, I'm sure yours will be too. :D

Very uplifting to hear that you have succesfully cloned that late in flower. They look good too. Nice and happy. The really light feeding makes total sense to me too. I still have plenty of FF veg nutes that I can probably introduce at a very low dose.
That photo was taken three days after I took the cuttings. I posted it as an after thought, with the "reminder" of ventilation in mind... just an idea of hole size. ;) ANYHOOO, I'd taken two cuttings from each girl, with the intention of keeping the best one from each. So today I tossed the three "less better" ones, and OMG there were a lot more roots in there than I'd expected for four weeks after cutting from flowering plants! I'm wondering if the light feeding I'm now doing is why. :?: It's the only thing I've done differently. Needless to say, they took root much sooner than I'd thought they did.

Thing is, I've lightly fed my cuttings since I was a kid. I stopped doing it when I started cloning MJ, because it's such a no-no amongst cannabis growing forums and books, etc. Goes to show, stick with what you know! I really need to stop changing things that I know work very well with plants just because it's cannabis. Plants is plants! ;) Aside from a few small particular differing needs, every species and strain and pheno is still just a plant.

KISS ... Keep It Simple, Stoner!

DISCLAIMER: The light feeding of cuttings works for me, but it is far from a "widely supported" method amongst the cannabis growing community. Although I personally recommend doing this from my own experience, I won't be held responsible for anyone taking my advice and over feeding their cuttings, resulting in burning them to death! :bigjoint:

The person who gave it to my wife as her shower present probably had no idea what we'd end up using it for. ;-)
The AG is what prompted me to finally bite the bullet and start growing my own medicine. For that, I will always treasure the AG. :D Now, whether I use the reservoir or just the base and light, it'll always be a great cloning and germinating/seedling station for me, and I don't foresee ever spending money on or building some "fancy" cloner. It's all I need!

Done that before myself m8. Side effect of reading through so many journals I think.
Hey, it's good to know I'm not the only one! I read so many journals here, I have trouble keeping up with who's who! That's also why I don't post comments as much as I'd like... juggling loads of journals can be a real pain in the ass. ;)

Yeah dude, i was having a blast last night. Yeah there are some terrific journals going on, very learning experience to share personal problems and successes of your own or others amongst each other.

cool man, glad you're following along in the background. Just gotta love the SSH though. Can't wait till mine are ready, one of my SSH is really going to make me wait for it though! But she will be worth it I'm sure! :blsmoke:

Here are some pics of what's going on.

The flowering scrog plant is still doing very well. Really gonna start pushing her on the nutes this week though. I'm going up to 1500-1700ppm this week. Reason being is at her size, I believe she can realistically handle it. I'm also disappointed at the trich production so far. Just some tiny bumps on the leaves so far. And, I'll be starting the gravity next week, which means I'll have to cut the nutes in at least 1/2. To my knowledge, the gravity is a bud-hardener....I don't think it helps trich production or bud growth. My concern here is that the buds will be the same size from next week on (as long as I'm using gravity). I'm confident that they can get much fuller if she has the right amount of nutes/light. Here's the nute regimen this week:

Canna coco A+B 12mL/gallon of each
CalMag 2mL/gallon
PK 13/14 5mL/gallon
FF Tiger Bloom 4tsp/gallon

PPM= 1500
pH= 6.1 (note, I always gradually increase ppm from 5.8 to 6.3 in all my grows. Seems to work like a charm)

Pics 1-3) Here's the scrogged girl. Just about to start her 6th week of flower. Trich production is weak and bud production has slowed a bit. There are some true towers of colas in there. There's even one (on the left) that has a weird double-bud thing going for it. Not sure how it happened, but there are 2 buds forming off of just the one cola. Looks pretty cool. :blsmoke:

The 3rd pic show the area underneath the screen. I was actually glad to see this pic as I rarely get this view (it's just too low). Next time, I'm going to have to do a much better job trimming that undergrowth and lollipopping. That's alot of little stems utilizing the much needed energy. :-(

Pics 4-5) This is the new baby hatchling. She's White Rhino feminized from greenhouse seeds. She hatched about 4 days ago and appears to be doing very well. Her roots have clearly come through the jiffy plug (same material they use with the aerogarden) and I just put her into coco today. I keep her with the other clones under numerous cfls. White rhino is a strain well known to be great for scrogs, sogs, and cloning. I'm hoping she'll be an easy one to grow.

Pic 6) This is the general cloning set up. Yes...I do realize that 2 of those clones are clearly dead. Those were my original 2 clones and I'm having a hard time letting them go after they got such a good start. :-( Well....that and I've been too lazy to just toss them out.

The 2 greener looking one are the cuttings that I took about 3 weeks ago. Their color is still good but there is still bud on both of them. One is inside the cup so that I can get some humidity in there. As you can tell by the thermometer, humidity has been scarce here lately.

That's all for now folks. But first, a little closeup of the 6-week-old in flower plant. :eyesmoke:

Holy wow!!! I've gotta build me some screens ASAP, even if it's only one at a time as I move each new plant into my flowering area!

All these beautiful colas from just one plant?!? I'm floored!!! :hump: We need an instant replay... :weed:

According to M Blaze, it's "never" too late to trim/lollipop. From looking at his massive trees, I'm quite willing to trust him. There may be some you can't get without hurting anything above the screen, but from your photo it looks like there's a quite a bit you can remove. If you want, and if you can get down there, that is. ;)

I've been guilty of the same thing!

Mine still have buds on them too, especially the two sativas. (My indica is the one with all the new growth.) They've shrunk, but they're still there. I don't know if they eventually just go away, or if they just need to be trimmed off later when there's plenty of new growth. I haven't read anything about that part... honestly, I haven't found a whole lot of reading material about revegging at all. :-? Of course if I find anything about this, I'll let you know. :D

No first timer here.

This is pretty much my 3rd time around.

In MY 1st grow, I left a tomato seed in a peat sponge that I put in a :leaf: seed in when I was growing in my aerogarden. Ooops! :dunce::lol:

......for those of you wondering, the tomato plant whooped up on the :leaf: for the awhile but the :leaf: plant eventually won out.

LOL. No, it still tasted like weed. If only the flavors could mix. That would be great! I'd have mint growing everywhere.

My laptops gonna be outta commision for a bit. Damn power jack needs replacing so I have to shop around and see who wants to financially slap me less. I'll get pics up once I get it back.

looking good man. those are gonna be some thick, hard, and long ass colas. i knew it would work out. but yea goodl job i should be done with my journal by next tuesday. i can't wait to get my next kournal started. dude i think you'll reall like the way i put my screen together, but you'll see. anyway i'm glad the clone is still alive. if it takes then you should harvest some fo you buds at 8 weels, some at 8 and a half weeks and the rest at 9weeks. keep them separate, and see which one suits you better. just a suggestion. but whatever whatever, looking good there Butters.

PEACE!!!

Hey All!

Sorry for the 2 weeks vaca but I managed to get myself mighty infected with all of the flu strains going around. :-(...:spew:

Picked up the swine flu 1st and needed to go into the hospital cuz im on immunosuppressive meds. And while in the hospital....i managed to catch the regular flu(s). Had me down and out for the better part of 2 weeks but I'm back and kickin again. Now I'm just waiting to get infected with a zombie-plague or somethin .....:spew:

Anywho, we are at 52 days of flower folks.

Had my wife work the feeding while I was gone. First, I should mention the use of the Gravity. When I went in the hospital was before I started using it. All the colas were upright and healthy looking. I use the Gravity for just 1.5 weeks and now I have to tie all of the branches up they are so heavy. I came home to half of the colas leaning completely horizontally :o.

They weren't shitten when they said that this was a bud hardener. It darn near overweighted the whole grow (not in a bad way though). ;-)

I do have some mild heat stress on the taller colas. Shoulda moved the light up higher but I didn't want to take the light farther away from the shorter colas that are doing so well.:cuss:

There is a HUGE difference in maturity between my colas. the smaller ones on the bottom of the screen have tons of trichs and the red hairs are starting to show. The taller colas barely have any trichs to speak of and are still completely white. Without looking below the screen, one would think that I am growing 2 different plants with different ages in there. Wild stuff.

Not sure of the cause of this. I might have to harvest in portions based on what I'm seeing now. Speaking of harvest, it's looking like I'm STILL a coupla weeks away. Even the trichs on the smaller colas are all clear with no cloudy and no amber. I intend to monitor the trichs once each week until I start to see some amber. :wall:

I'm currently in a 3 day flush using clearex and water. I was a little concerned that the gravity and nutes may have burned it a little so I figured a quickie flush wouldn't hurt. Then...it's back up to 1200ppm for the rest of the grow. Still using Canna A+B and tiger bloom. No more Pk 13/14, Calmg, or gravity from this point on. Gotta get these things to fill out more. :-D

I'll do my best to get pics up in the next coupla days. Thanks for checkin in! :peace:

Butters Butters Butters, good to have yah back brother. Extremely sorry that you got sick, everyone I know is Cali is experiencing some sort of Flu. Anyhow I am kind of pissed at you for not helping save the whales n shit. ♠

Anyhow from what you are describing you could do multiple harvests, it could actually end up being a good thing.

I have been doing research on getting multiple harvests, and it seems that if done right with experience you should be able to pull off close to 50-100% more from a double or a triple harvest compared to just one harvest.

I am still a noob and haven't experimented with this but I might just give it a shot to see how it goes.

Also another thing you could do is still raise the light to where the taller colas are happy and not stressing, and then add a few very cheap CFL's to the lower colas.
