Hey Bro... I have been reading through this grow and I originally saw your posts on Zen's grow journal. I really likes the scrog set-up posted over there..I can't seem to find your pic here that was there that showed you trays and net in what looked like 1/2 way through flower...anyway in this pic here, how old are your plants when you put the net on?
Do you adjust it or use another net when they get taller?
Plants look good..nice color..I am thinking of using the same net on mine.

If I posted scrog pics on Zen's thread, it was probably these 2 pics. They are from Woodsmantoker's thread (he's like a Scrog master).

My screen went up at about week 2 but easily could've gone up on day 1. I was just lazy.

As for adjusting it or adding another screen....I'm still working on that one. In theory, my screen was supposed to create a beautifully even canopy like in the pics below.....in theory

What's really happened is that I let my plant veg for too long and didn't take into account how much it would stretch during flower so I ran out of horizontal surface area to use. :dunce:

So now...I have to let the plant grow vertically and need to consider the addition of another screen to take into account the possibility of the weight of the buds....possibly.

Attitude seed bank...........:mrgreen:..............:clap::clap::clap::clap:

Just to let you all know, they are running a special on FREE feminized seeds. I just placed the order for a free feminized G13 Pineapple Express, paid for 1 Afgan Kush fem'd, and got another DNA LA Woman Fem's seed for free this weekend.........:weed:

I'm psyched. Most of the seeds strains that I have left have huge flowering times (11 weeks or more). I had been skeptical about freebies, but the Blue Venom has changed that. It was free, but it has no smell and is easy as all get out to grow. :eyesmoke:

I would strongly recommend that anyone reading this journal at least check out the Attitude Seedbank special going on right now. You don't even need to buy anything! Just pay for the damn shipping

Pics coming tomorrow. She's looking great! :peace:

And.....I did some lollipopping and used a couple of what I took as clones in the AG. Hopefully it works. :blsmoke:

Lol.

Like CliffNotes for RIU threads.

What's going on with your thread Zen? I do believe that there was a screen mentioned in the coming attractions.

The blue venom still being good to you? Any difference in the smoke now as compared to before?

-Butters :bigjoint:
naw the thread aint dead yet i just have not been able to put up any pics maybe this weekend i'll get a camera. the BV wont be ready till the 17th. and it's looking real nice and greasy. i kinda did more with the floralicious bloom this time around and i definitely see a difference in the amount of trichs on the buds, and the smell is stronger, not louder, but stronger.i cant wait though. as for the screen effort, i am going to see if i can get a 21day perpetual thing going. i have my screen apparatus put together, just waiting till i get paid to get the screen. but my holder is pretty nice i guess, i made it with pvc(of course). four legs that i made into telescoping legs, so instead of me having to put up another screen when the canopy gets too tall, i can just adjust the legs and raise the screen. like i said though, it will be better when i get my camera. i'll probably be starting my perpetual thread at that point. hey i got a quick question before i go. how is that black and white poly tent doing with that 400wt light? is it able to handle the heat? how far from the sides(front, back, top) do you have it sitting? the reason i ask is because i need to go ahead and put this mother cabinet together. i have a 250wt light but i am concerned about the heat. get back at me.
Thanks.

nice dude! it looks real good to me man. you say it's uneven but think about it, it's still good because all of the taller heads are around the edge, not in random places. i say this is good because you dont have to worry about those taller ones robbing light from smaller heads that may be surrounding it. in other words the tall ones create like a perimeter. like hills and a valley. but anyway nice work my friend!

I am loving the black and white poly film for the tent Zen.

The temps got up there in the summer. It ran 84f at it's highest with no legitimate cooltube set up. Right now, temps in the northeast have dropped to around the mid 60's to mid 70's and the tent is consistently running 75f to 77f...right where I want it.

With a cooltube running though, and proper ventillation to go with it, temps would never be a problem in any tent. All the high temp journals I have read were easily solved by having a cool tube, pulling in cooler air, and venting outside of the room that the tent is in. When that happens, the heat from the 400watter becomes a non-issue.

I let my 400wHPS hang about a foot below the top of the tent but that's just to get it close to the top of the plants. It could hang much closer to the top of that tent with no issues at all. That material is pretty damn heat resistant. :fire:

With a 250w and a tent, I wouldn't anticipate any heat troubles. Just get a small fan to pull air out of there and preferrably vent outside the room if possible. You're used to working with grow rooms in the 90's anyway so you'll be just fine.

Yeah. I was kinda thinking about the canopy issue earlier. With all of the tall ones on the outside of the screen, the (now) littler colas that are dead center will grow up to the light quicker and I anticipate that canopy will even quite a bit. Thanks for the encouragement.

thanks man, that is exactly what i needed to hear. construction begins TONIGHT!!!!!! for a fan i have a 256cfm cage fan that i'll be using, but i'll be venting that "into" the room. i don't think(hope)that it will be an issue since lately the temps in the room has been between the 75-80 mark with the lights on, and it's starting to get cooler outside, and it's only a 250, and i guess i'm trying to convince myself more than i trying to convince you. but hey man we'll see.
about the fan though, my cab is going to be 2x3x5, that's 30 cubic feet. is 256cfm overkill? now i know i would have to consider the heat of the light, but i have a 117cfm axial fan would that be enough with a passive intake at the bottom?
as far as your canopy, even if it does not completely even out almost every top will be getting light. so still you come out on top. so you're money baby.

Hey Butters, your plants have a solid green, very nice, mine aren't really that green, may be nitrogen is too low.

Anyhow did u end up getting Canna nutes? sorry if it is in your post didn't get through all of it.

Yes. I'm using the Canna Coco A+B lines of nutes. Cheap and easy. I also am supplementing (just recently, last 2 weeks) with Calmag and Canna PK 13/14.

Loving these nutes. They make it too easy.

Be warned. This is turning out to be a step by step guide for a mediocre scrog

There's still tons of room for improvement on this that I'll be addressing as I get new plants in there.

I shared in your frustrations about finding instructional scrog journals. Such a great method of growing and so little instructional-based information on it (I don't know about you, but I need pictures to understand half of what people do in growing )

But definitely don't hold up on growing due to this. Just find something to make a screen out of, calculate the square footage for whatever light you have, make the appropriate screen size, and just start it up. The rest you'll be able to pick up and understand along the way. Afterall.....you've got about 3 months to learn about and perfect this method with this plant once you start. ;-)

Also, be sure you know your own personal reasons for wanting to go scrog. Mine had to do with limiting plant numbers without sacrificing yield, and getting a nice even canopy so that I get consistent nugs (size and quantity). Others go scrog due to vertical space restrictions. Others do scrog for bud-weight support. Just take the time to know exactly what you want to do and why and it gets real easy with that starting point.

Zero...... :o.............

Sadly, I'm in a non-legal state

I limit the plant #s to cover my rear in the event that I were to get caught. I'd much rather be caught with a 2 plant scrog than a 24 plant sog grow. ;-)

And hopefully, one day soon, my state will remove it's head from it's own arse and realize that there is legitimate medical value in :leaf:

With a limit of 6 plants, you could still pull off a good amount of bud I would think. Just have to structure the grow method and design around that number.

How DO they come up with those plant numbers anyway? Is it like Wheel of Fortune or something. Just spun a wheel one day and it landed on the number "6".....right between "Bankrupt" and "1000".

Probably make more sense to take it case-by-case and let severity of symptoms dictate the legal # of plants, eh. Oh well, it's a start at least. Now please send your pot-friendly politicians to the Northeast so I can at least get a 2 plant limit.

So the state of cali has basically set a minimum limit that a county can have so in case your county hasn't passed the ruling on a limit then u have to follow the 6 mature 12 immature w/ 8oz of dried bud rule.

Some counties in nor cal have a much higher limit. I am even considering moving there so I could grow higher numbers of plants.

At 265 cfm with those dimensions...you're going to practically simulate outer space in there.

It really won't be a problem. You won't need to run that fan for long that's for sure.

And if you're going to use the black and white poly film, you'll need to structure your tent a little differently to minimize the suction effect. You'll need to put a horizontal pvc pipe running halfway up on the sides. Reason being is basically what happens with my tent right now. When my fans run (they're just regular fans so I don't know the cfms), all the sides of that black and white poly film start being sucked inside the tent. The effect wouldn't be that bad if I had put up horizontal supports about mid-way up the sides.

Pulling 265cfm in that space with black and white poly with just a cube frame of pvc, that thing might collapse on itself like a neutron star.

Can't wait to see the finished product bro.

after seeing this i'm feeling that the 117cfm fan would be more than enough. i mean 117cfm and 30 cubic feet , that means it will exchange all the air pretty much three times in a minute, right.

I've got 56 cubic feet in my tent, and my 256 cfm fan still has created one hell of a vaccuum. Sides of the tent like Butters said, without a center support. I'll be adding something like that soon, but it's not my top priority at the moment as the weather is so much nicer now, and soon enough the exhaust fan will make it a bit too cold in there. So I've got about half a year to worry about that, and hopefully will have a better set up than I've got now anyway.

Hiya Butters! Finally able to read a bit online, and now playing Catch Up... T's been leaving his laptop at home for me to use while he's at work the last couple of days, and he's taking mine to our friend's house to (hopefully!) be repaired tonight.
