I'm still a n00b all i would like to know is this light to bright and should i use it for veg or flowering

Oh yeah , now thats a CFL. :-P
Thats not to bright but its large an will makes some heat, so watch the temps an dont let em tutch it, but keep em as close as u can .

The 2700 k or red are for flowering, U need one like that in the blue spectrum 6500k ish.

My little grow box (2x2x3 ft) has a 120 w blue cfl, i mix with a red 40 w red cfl to balance the spectrum. But when flowering comes I switch to my 150 w red cfl an mix in a small blue

4x23w would struggle. You want about 6-8 of them in 6400k for veg and same amount in 2700k for flowering. That would be minimum for one plant if you want any decent type of yield

hps is always better than cfl

Hahahahaaaaaaa

OH i WILL remeber this one.
any ways,

yea u should actually MIX spectrum in VEG and flowering fer best results in potency and color. do a lil 2700 and a lil 6000 or sumthing in DAYTIME color.

As a cfl'er turned HPS user I will say this....I started with cfl's when I decided to grow my own. I have 4 sucessful grows using cfl's. I had 2- 68 w , 2-42 w, 5-26w,2-30w and a 2 ft flouro . Thats like 450 watts give or take. It produced a decent yeild but in the end wasnt worth the money. For the amount of money you spend on cfl's you could just go buy a 150w HPS and add a few cfls for supplemental light for the same price. I bought a 25o w HPS and use 2 2700 and 2 5600 cfls for supplemental and the results are off the chart compared to just cfl's. if you are gonna use cfl's just use them for the first grow, sell the budds and use the money for an HPS. I might add that heat was a lil bit of an issue with all the cfl's. my temps are much lower just using my 250 watterHPS. but ...to each his own. just some experience thoughts.

just get lots of cfls. They are only efficient a few inches from the bulbs so you would be better off with more small ones that put out the same lumens with more light sources. Grow at least 3 you want a female don't you? Get some daylight cfls for vegging and soft white cfls for flowering.
