Hi guys,

I have a problem as the title suggests. My bottom two fan leaves have shrivelled and died. I don't know if i have done the right thing here but i have pulled the leaves in question off. My short ryders are 4 weeks old and pretty short (using a pc grow box, 125w duall spectrum cfl, soil grow) The leaves I refer to suffered nute burn, my best guess, and died on me. My plants are 4 week old approx (i rescued off a mate with an incandescent at 1 week old) Also this is my first grow but i think my plants have shown signs of sex (white pistils as far as I can gather) with 4 nodes (3 after i plucked the bottom 2 fan leaves). Is this normal? Please help any advice much appreciated.:spew:

There is the pic attached come to think of it it may be nearer the 5 week mark. Also does it seem too light in colour. Humidity is off the chart (too low) around 20%. What effect will chopping off the lower fan leaves have? +rep to any help

Thanks rusty clutch, I have fertiliesed undilited over the leaves (in a drunken stupor, my g/f thought it was hilarious) hence the nute burn, maybe 5ml bio-grow from bio bizz. What feeding cycle do you reccomend? I bought the book marajuana horticulture the indoor/outdoor grow bible by jorge cervantes but it doesn't go into as much detail as i hoped it would. Does the plant look normal for 5 weeks in your opinion? That pot is roughly 3ltr.

Bottom leaves will always die....gotta remember their the oldest leaves on the plant...........looks like to many wood chips.........what kinda soil is that and do you any access to perlite...........just for airation purposes...........what's the ph on it........It's kinda small for it's age..........Have you givin it any nutes.....Plus your nutes, pick up a box of epsome salts and feed every watering 1tsp/gal..........Mag always causes people fits and they think their plant is overfurted or opposite for that matter...........CHeck PPM & PH before and after feeding............

What type of soil is that? PH? I'm guessing that the PH is way off, because I really doubt that the plant has depleted the nutrients already, at that tiny size.

I don't know what type of soil it is as i rescued the plant off a mate with an incandescent bulb. His grandfather grows all types of plants as a hobby and that is his own pre-mixed soil which as was assured is good. I have been using distilled water and tested the pH of that which was around 7. I have added some phosphoric acid to tghe water to lopwer the pH. Do u think that could be stunting the growth?

^That acid could be the problem. I'm saying that because back when i was using PH Down designed for aquariums, the main rule of thumb was to avoid stuff that contained phosphates. Next time use some lemon juice or vinegar, because they're safer for your plants. I'm still not sure if that is the problem, just saying that it's a good idea to change your PH adjuster. Better yet, order some stuff designed for growing. It's pretty cheap, like $15 on Ebay, and you get enough to last a long time. :)
