Best training method to MAXIMIZE yield for DWC buckets.....

Hello people...

Im about to start a new DWC system that will be about 4 plants under 600W of sweet air cooled HPS/MH light.
They are individual 5gal bucket res with 6inch net pot lids.
Will use technaflora's recipe for nutes.
I want to keep the grow space to around 3.5*3.5 and im in the midsts of trying to buy an extra 400HPW setup since i already have an extra bulb, if
so i'd increment the grow area to a max of 4*4Ft so it'd be 49WPSft for the first and about 62.5WPSft for the 1000W
Strains:
Super Lemon Haze (GHS)
Blue Widow (DinaFem)
Critical + (DinaFem)
Liberty Haze (BF)

I did some research in the websites and read that all the breeders mentioned that all these strains work well with LST..

i have a potential max grow heigth of 4FT.

so what i would be the best way to maximize yield... Should i top or FIM? or will lst suffice by itself? i really dont like the idea of mutilating my babies by cutting their tops, especially since i don't thing height is a problem with me...

also has anyone ever done lst with buckets before? i read a post were someone put a screen (kinda like SCROG) but he put it right on the lid of the bucket and thats how he tied the stem down.

also does topping really increase yield? or is it the same because you essentially split the main cola in 2?

im not considering scrog because i think if i use 1 main screen itll be fairly difficult to do the regular maintenance on the buckets since all the plants are tied down to the same screen.....

so what do you think fellow growers? what have you had more luck with? LST, SCROG, or just Top and grow them regularly...

thanks for the help!

LST for sure but start as early as you can doing little by little. I grew bubbleponics and DWC and have always used LST. As for the topping I personally like it.

why do you like topping? ive never done it but people do seem to like it...

how do you LST? i just commented on one of your threads lol and i see your plant is in a DWC bucket same as mine..

If you only have a height of 4' to work with I would be awfully scared in almost every aspect. Even at 4x4x4 that's a lot of heat to try and get rid of, not to mention the height of the buckets, height of the hood set up, and then plant height. I just don't see you having much vertical room at all to work with. I could maybe see a super low profile SCRog set about 6-10" above the top of your buckets and try and keep everything tucked under the netting until the stretch is over. The draw to DWC style of growing is because you can grow fucking trees and the use of vertical lighting every couple of feet just makes most dwc plants into absolute monsters! Maybe a different style of hydro would work better for you? 4'x4' tray with rockwool and flood and drain it? hand water small containers of coco? Idk just seems like you're going to be trying to contain a lot of vegetative growth in a little space. Sort of like trying to stuff ten pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag...

Post pics of the screen method I've never seen it. Lst and top your plants. They both work well. I'm adding a scrog today to my grow.

What I do when I LST is just put nails or screws in the surrounding walls and tie the branches to them with string. slowly tightening the string to pull the plant to a certain angle of desire. Topping I think its just personal preference. I like it because it gives me more to work with in limited space. Best of luck!

i guess i didnt explain correctly.... when i said 4ft i mean that is the tallest the plant can get not counting the light or the buckets.... the room is a little bigger than 4X4 but i want to focus all the light into that area because I'm building a veg chamber also.... as far as heat goes i have a 700cfm can fan connected to the reflector and vented out the chimney and controlled by a thermostat so i can control the temperature quite nicely... the room is always a perfect 75 with the light on and the plants could be 1-2 inches away from the reflector no problem...

so with that out of the way....

plants can get as tall as 4ft tall. 4 plants in a 4X4 area under 600-1000 watts.... what do you think?
