My daily walk to the beer store and today's find is a gem. First time I've seen it. Small brewery called Backwoods Brewing in the Columbia river gorge. Carson Washington to be exact. Really smooth, clean tasting, with enough hops to satisfy an IPA enthusiast without scaring away everyone else. Not crazy with the alcohol content either. I'll buy it again.

Probably higher than most. 60-70 is good.
Some people ask me "How can you drink that stuff?". My response is always, "How can you drink that?" pointing to the can of Coors light in their hand.

I've never had that or seen it available here. There's so much local stuff here in Portland I could have missed it on the shelves. I looked at the Total Wine website, they have a store across the river in Vancouver Washington. They have the Jai Alai but not the Jai Low $9.99 a six pack. I might have to give it a try next time I'm in Vancouver.
The seasonal Holiday Ales are starting to hit the shelves. Deschutes Jubel Ale and Sierra Nevada Celebration are some that I wait for every year.

Sorry but ask a brewer if they can get the same consistency over and over. Especially with a light beer it's hard to hide the fuck ups. Add fruit or more hops and you can hide shitty beer. I did some work for a small micro that put out good German beers, that was their take and well it is exactly how the industry went. Fast-forward 15 years and the shit beer that's come and gone is crazy.......there are a few good ones though. But so many micro brands are just a label and marketing. And get their beer brewed and bottled by a contract brewery.Probably higher than most. 60-70 is good.

I'm not hating on hoppy beer (I like it also) but more of the snobbery that usually accompanies it.

It might not be a good one for you. I bought it because it has low carbs . The IBU is 35 and alc 4%.I've never had that or seen it available here. So true. I can’t tell you how many times I have bought the same brand beer and love it one time and can’t bear to drink it the next time. Yeah... lots of bad batches . I have just come to accept it as the chance i take. Sometimes the one I like tastes so bad it tastes
Like poison but I always have hope the next round will be the winning batch. Can u return a six pack after you drink one? I haven’t tried that yet but I might. Lol.

Consistency is a big issue. I can tell different batches of the same beer. Which is sometimes disappointing when you've had a beer you really liked and then the next time you get it it isn't the same.
I made a post awhile back about how the labeling and marketing the beer industry is using reminds me of the cannabis seed and fertilizer industries. It's gotten ridiculous.
I must admit that I have a little snobbery in me. Nothing too serious but it's there. I won't deny it. But I'm not one of the hipsters that think they discovered beer while sipping some Sour out of a wine glass they paid $8 for. Which is why I never go to brewpubs here in Portland. You can smell the pretentiousness as soon as you walk in. The scene has really changed over the years. It used to be a bunch of hole in the wall type venues and now it's turned into an upscale scene with many seemingly focusing more on their overpriced food menus than the actual beer. The late 80's and through the 90's was a great time in Portland with a great down to earth scene. Not so much anymore. I stopped going to the Oregon Brewfest when they started doing the wave and almost all the beers were some sweet fruit concoctions.

Prost brewing up in DEN makes 2 seriously authentic German beers: a hefeweizen with the banana, clove etc and then a kolsch that has that drinking a cereal taste to it.
i dabble in home brewing and i think i could take a miller lite and overhop it and fool some IPA drinkers. lol

One style I don't like is wheat. Don't know why but just not my style....he did a very good wheat but I much prefer a lager. A kolsch is nice also.
