sure your servers don't have to leave the dining room and it saved them 25 miles for whatever..a week? but it takes the food 5 minutes to get there. then your server (just standing there) takes it off the cart to hand it to you..that's the time saver? more like a new toy for the restaurant owner. THE MEAL IS COLD; TWO OF WHICH IS RIDING IN ON THE BOTTOM AND MIDDLE SHELF. i don't know about you but i don't want my food that close to the ground going through any restaurant. In my 20s working banquets that shit had to be covered if bringing in on cart.

Good point about the food being exposed. That machine needs a lot of feedback for the engineers to know what to improve.

I kind of think it is onto something though. If nothing else I bet keeping the kitchen from having to deal with servers might make their jobs much more satisfying.

What are the servers to do with their free time? Roll silverware I guess? Develop new floor plans?

Are they there sort of like the driver needing to be in the driver's seat with tesla autopilot? Robot waiters are fine till they aren't and the soup starts flying.

Talk with the customers that enjoy it, get more tables refills on their drinks, as the robot makes it's way to the table they can be there to unload it, clean the tables. I could see how a lot of work would be able to be done by far fewer people if you cut out pretty much all of the kitchen-server stuff.

most restaurants have runners or busboys that run it's part of what you tip them at the end of the night. some restaurants make servers run if you're in the kitchen waiting on your food. some restaurants demand all servers run- and i don't like that. i didn't like anyone serving the food i ordered to make sure it goes out right. people often have many requests and if the food is not right, cold who gets the shitty tip?

silver is done after shift for next shift.

imagine if you will..ASTRO going past diners one of which decided that the 'honor system' is for everyone else, just sneezed on your food as it's paraded around the restaurant because if it can't move it will re-route..re-reoute..re-route.
