interesting, your lighting choices are exactly oppisite of most. Im curious as to why and how it turns out for you.
hps
I wish I could tell you some awesome story about how it increases yeilds or something, but truth is I was told hps was fun for both stages and one day I was at the hydro store and this dude was orgasming talking about how much better MH is than HPS when vegging, so I bought a MH and switch lol. When I start flowering im going to switch it back to the HPS

They were probably a foot, maybe a bit over, with plenty of nodes. I went about 6 weeks of veg.
Nice, I think I am at a foot and half, Ill prob start flowering tomorrow! Exciting stuff. Actually I just fed them some more nutes yesterday, so maybe ill wait a week idno. Give my one plant more time to fix its shit lol. So in your 2 weeks of flower how much have they grown, I was told to expect 2-3 times height growth which is why I was waiting for 1.5 ft so it could get atleast 3 foot tall

Everyones got their opinions for sure. I have definitely used supplemental lighting with higher k ratings(mh) just never had heard of vegging with hps and flower with strictly mh. Just wondering how it goes for you. god luck

If too worried about it you could remove some of the lower branches and what not that aren't getting light, but the more stuff on top the better. Some people think if you remove the lower useless stuff more energy will be used on the buds. I don't know if this is true or not. I am trying it for the first time presently...on some plants that always grow funny anyway...

Are you serious ? Those look awesome .
Haha thanks, my second time with soil. The first time was disappointing, so I decided to give subcool's recipe a try and so far it's been a really great mix. We'll see what happens!

Thanks again all for your input. Trimming the bottom leaves sounds like it might be worth while, but I'll hold off for a bit and see what happens.

i would remove any leaves and small steams that are more the 6" inches under that canopy if its still thick as no light
could raise the chances of mold and popcorn on lower part of plant, plus it makes it easy to water,
i would do this at first sign of flowers 1-3 weeks in flower when it stops gaining height

OK, cool. I'll have to do that ASAP, as they're under 3 weeks and buds are starting to develop. It is difficult to water them in fact.

OK, a few more pics - the buds are already starting to look bigger! The plants measured out at about 28-29inches tall, not bad for a sativa in flower methinks. I figured they'd get to 4-5 feet at least, not under 3 feet! Maybe they'll stretch more as they flower. I've included a couple pictures of the undergrowth or what you don't see under the glorious canopy on the top. It's a miniature jungle.

I may compile all the pics and throw up a journal in a few days for those interested in the strains - I added the last pic for the sake of seeing the full perspective and my small, sad HTG supply hood with a light probably too big for it! It used to contain a 400W after all. I was using 2 of those before, which had better light distribution, but it's much easier to cool one light. There's no way that 1000W could be contained in there without an exhaust though. It gets x10 hotter than 400W lights with x2 the amount of air circulation, so it's no joke when people say 1000W are hot. :peace:

Here's my giant fan leaf. You can see where the foliage underneath is peaking through, but not getting the full brunt of the light. Stretch baby streeeetch!

just read your thread and i'm experiencing something like this too. I"m using a 4x4 tent and a 1000 mh and it seems mine are not stretching much either. I'll have to post some pics later to get your opinion but my plants are relatively young, bout' 2 weeks.

I thought it has something to do with the distance of the light so i rose it up to about 3 feet so they could try to "reach" for more light. Hope this would encourage more vertical growth but will have to wait and see how the next 2 weeks play out. But at the moment my Purp OG is is really small & bushy with nodes right on top of each other.

I grew the same strain oudoors and were considerably taller at this age..idk:???:

hey bud great thread ! I too have plants that wont stretch . all 3 of my clone mother plants started to get really bushy and the leaves are smaller than they used to be . I use cfls with great results at harvest time (check out my threads) but because they are so close to the plant tops it seems like they just fill in between the branches . they also have really firm bark all the way up and its takes a long time to root firmer more mature cuttings , im semi perpetual , well basically im perpetual but my laziness screws up my timing along with the slow rooting of clones . sorry I found your thread so late but keep rocking

I thought plants stretched when they were changed to the flowering cycle? And a red or 2700k-ish lights were used.
