It all depends on the situation. The biggest thing is ownership and how intrusive the landlords are. Small ops are fine for apt growing but anything more that a few plants might get a bit risky.

yup like boneman said as long as the landlords arent intrusive you could easily grow but wouldnt suggest renting an apartment just for growing weed. Reason being that inorder to grow enough pot to pay the rent+power you would #1 be stinking the whole floor out and would be asking to get caught!!! but if you live there go for it. My buddies live in a 2 bedroom with both closets using 600w hps...ontop of that power is included in the $900mnth rent..... bastards hehehh good luck

with apartments you better be sure the landlord or manager or handyman/woman doesnt intrude or have any reason to go in there. im cool with the manager and handyman is a stoner so im good with whatever i do in mine, plus they always let me know when they need to go in for anything and ask for my permission to enter before doing so. as for the landlord is rich and retired wich = only come around for rent money wich is picked up by manager.

I live in a two bedroom 1 bath apt and the bigger of the two bedrooms is my grow room. I have three 600 watt hps running in there 12 hours a day along with 4 foot fluros for my veg section. Along with water pumps window ac unit fans and ozone generator. Im one lucky bastard my rent is 800 a month with electricity included and my landlord never comes by. Smell is controlled by a large ozone generator and a couple diy carbon filters on exhaust so my grow remains undetected. I split the power between the circuit in the bedroom and the circuit in the kitchen to avoid blowing it and have my entire apt on power strips so that when im done with something like tv xbox microwave etc i can just yank the power strip because even turned off appliances consume electricity. By doing this and replacing all the bulbs in my apt with fluro instead of incandescant i cut back massively on power usage making my bill not nearly jump as much because of my grow. I do however make the excuse that i run multiple high power using computers because i work in 3d design and graphics but my power bill has yet to be an issue. The only part of my grow that is not entirely under wraps is when my water pumps kick on the neighbors can hear but i just told them its my aquariem and havent had a question since. It is in this way that i produce between 12 and 16 ounces every 3 weeks which covers my rent insurance food tv cable phone internet spending money basically everything i do is covered by the money from my grow plus all the free weed i can smoke. You can grow in an apt very successfully just make sure the land lord isnt going to drop in and put some serious planning into it like i have. I am actually allowed to deny my landlord access to that room because it is the bed room and the fuse box is in the kitchen so he would be intruding on my private space with no reason for maintenance. The grow room also has a full air circulation set up with a window ac unit bringing air in fans moving the air through my flower room which has a ozone capn generator that eliminates 90% of the smell through a diy carbon filter into the sectioned off mother room and through another diy carbon filter and small fan out the window. As long as power usage isnt off the wall and smell is under control youll be fine.

PS always pay your rent on time like i do

jeez I just bought 50 1 gallon buckets for the flowering area of my apartment grow...
Haha! I'm about to spend about $800 on a perpetual system in my apartment  Quite a few plants, just use a carbon filter. I also changed my locks so although the management company charges a fee . . . they don't have a working key to my place anymore.

i have my grow in my apartment and as long as you keep them hidden and the room well ventilated then you'll have no problem..
