Any Electritions in the house ?

Hello Everyone I need to put a fan into my New grow tent and all i have at the moment is a "Domus model T1" Extractor fan (the type you have on a Bathroom/Kitchen Wall). http://uk.farnell.com/domus/t1/fan-wall-timer-100mm/dp/1265795
What I’d like to know is can i wire it up to a Normal UK 3Pin Plug and use it as a normal fan? or is it the type of fan that Has to be wired up to a Light switch first?

Break it open and look at the wiring, you should have 3 wires, white, black green or red black blue. Do this and ill walk you through the process of rewiring. Its fairly simple but the hardest part is determining which wire is hot

And yes you can connect it to a 3 prong plug, granted you have the proper wires connected.

Many Thanks Cannabisculture. There is not any coloured wires in it so here is a pic. It has LIVE on the Left, Neutral in the Centre and SL on the Right. I'm going to Guess that SL is Switch Live? and i won't need it so is it just the Live and NEUTRAL that i'm going to use ? Also there is'nt an Earth so will 2 Core cable be OK?

Not sure about your metric wire colors in the UK, but here goes:

Live-----------> Brown
Neutral-------->Blue

Hello Saint T. Yes your right about the colours (And Green/Yellow Stripe=Earth in case you ever need the info). Would it be OK to use as a normal fan though ? as it has a built in timer. If i just use the Live and Neutral and Ignore the SL that should run the fan without any problems yes? Sorry if i'm repeating myself but i don't like Electric Shocks... They Bloody Hurt like Hell

you may have to add a jumper between the live and the switched live.the idea behind 2 lives is to have power to the fan all the time so that when the switched live gets power(turn the bath light on), the fan turns on, when the switched live gets turned off(turn bath light off), the fan will run for several minutes longer to clear the air. if you kill power to both at the same time, the fan will shut off.
grounding is always a good idea so if the case is metal, ground to it but if not,2 core cable will work

I'm going to go with the idea of using a Jumper cable from the SL to Live and Brown to Live, Blue to Neutral. There isn’t an Earth and the fan isn't made of metal so will just use 2 Core cable and plug it into a Resettable Circuit Breaker just to be on the Safe side.
I've been in the Building Trade for over 20 Years as a Carpenter/Joiner & Window Fitter and have picked up bits of knowledge here and there along the way but just wanted some reassurance and knowledge from people like yourself before i Blow myself up lol...
