And so it begins: My medical grow in Sacramento

It starts with a hole in the hardpan. First of two.

This hole is too small; needs to be at least 6" wider and 8" deeper. I'll get back to that tomorrow. I'm sore.

Then you need some soil:

Tomorrow I'll finish the first hole and dig the second one. This hard pan is hell to dig in, even when it's winter saturated.

I ordered up a pair of clones (Super Lemon Haze) that will be ready in a week. If the weather stays nice, I'll start acclimating them to being outside and try to get them in the ground very early April. If not, I'll limp them along indoors until it's time.

I know that there's not much to see here right now, but I'll keep uploading pictures as things progress. Feedback is most welcome.

Just gotta watch the weather channel and keep a spot for them inside should you have to snatch them up and bring them inside in the face of some fucked up late season freeze.

Things got put on hold due to some more winter, and now it looks like I might be screwed on my super lemon haze clones. Dude won't return my emails or phone calls.

Since it became obvious that I got hosed on the SLH clones (thanks pal), I went club-hopping today to find something else to plant. My second choice was Blue Dream, and after driving all over and joining four new clubs, I was able to get my hands on a couple. I'm cool with that; it's some great smoke.

I've got them transplanted into some one gallon pots while I harden them up a little, and so I can bring them in if we get another cold snap in the next week. I'll post some pics as soon as I get them in the ground.

Thanks for checking in, man. Yeah, digging holes by hand sucks. I've got a pot of that soil moistened up for a few days, and tomorrow I'm gonna run up to the nursery and grab a PH tester.

As of late, Craig's is damn near unusable. The flaggers have become focused and relentless, and the ads that manage to stay up for more than twenty minutes seem to always be from the same bullshit flake assholes. I should have spent more time looking at budtrader. But it's all good, I've got some nice little girls.

And yeah, I'm sweating the worms. They were bad last year. Thanks for looking, and I always welcome advice.

I've been growing in the Sacramento area for a very long time.

Many of the clubs are trying to lowball the clone makers($3 wholesale) making producing clones uninteresting to many.

I make my own seeds.

I hope you'll look at my grow.

Questions are welcome.

Cannabis will do better in a 3 foot wide hole, only eight inches deep, vs a smaller, deeper hole.

Few roots penetrate deeper unless watering is spotty.

I use raised beds throughout my garden which gives me control over my soil and drainage.

Best of luck!

I wouldn't plant from clone yet, your plants will most likely enter flower, and then have to reveg. Your barely over the 12/12 now. http://www.almanac.com/sun

Instead of using a shovel for straight digging in hard soil I uusually take a pick style tool to break up the dirt. you may want to try it out I find it so much easier.
