Story time!

Planted 4 TKNL5 Haze 3 seeds, along with an assortment of other seeds, including 3 CGPRxDalas OSK. I had 2 seeds sprout in less than 24 hours, and in 48, all 3 CGPR had popped! Bad news, none of the TKNL5 popped, so I put 3 more in paper towels, along with even more seeds (got more than I know what to do with) and 4/5 of the other seeds popped, still no TKNL5. I took the last of the seeds, and I am going to try the soaking method before putting them in paper towels and hoping for the best.

I am not blaming AKBB or JBC, shit happens, and its just as likely a mixture of user error and bad luck. The bright side is that I have experimented with methods of germination I never tried before with pretty good results (outside of the tknl5) and I consider that a win!

If none of the seeds pop, I will try again with Relic's consumption f2, some nl dom TKNL5 haze 3, and buy more seeds.

You seem like a nice guy but @Dankortowne and/or @JBCSeeds should reach out to you and fix this.

Some of akbb's beans are a little older. His suggestion with all of his seeds are to soak them in food grade 3% H2O2 water for 1-2hr max then straight into soil. Keep the top of soil moist they should all pop. Ive had a 98% germ rate with his suggestion with all seeds I pop. (ive had 1 seed not germ since ive switched to this method). If his suggestion does not work. Email him and he will test them and send you another pack with no problem.

He never suggested that to me when I purchased direct from him.
And I had the same issue with duds and immature looking seeds.
the pack had a few extra but what good are they if they don’t germ.

Hey everyone, I have been following the thread, and wanted to offer another germination method that I have been experimenting with lately, when other methods are failing me. My wife picked up a pack of coco coir pucks that expand when wet for a project that never took off. I have been using 1 puck per a 16 Oz Solo cup and RO water. The trick with my dry climate is to keep a bit of extra water just covering the coco that fills the bottom. After the coco is nice and damp, I drop in a seed with ceramic tweezers about half an inch. In about 3 to 5 days the sprouts are breaking the top of the coco. Just keep that coco moist and let the taproot get well developed. Then I wrap a neoprene collar around the base of the sprout and put it into a 2 inch net cup. I have been running a Stinkbud inspired aeroponics setup for several years with pretty good success for my personal grow. Tolerance Break, give this a try, may be worth your while. I am about 6 seeds through a pack of Vintage Blueberry from Heritageseedbank.com that are having germ issues, even using the method I described.
I hope this helps.
Positive vibes and green gardens to all.

Sucks to hear that.
I drop seeds in a cup of water and viable seeds will pop a tail within 24-48 hrs.
I’ll take the blame if I can’t get them sprouted after I get tails.
imo $80-$100 a pack from seed banks is a lot of money to have germ issues.
if the breeders and seed banks aren’t made aware of germ issues then nothing changes and everyone suffers.
nothing personal against akbb but I’ve had my own germ issues with his work,

I am hesitant to put blame on anyone but myself, however, I will contact jbc and shoot akbb a message on insta explaining my methods and results, with due respect for their work. I dont really care about replacement beans, I do however agree with the sentiment that if nobody is made aware who could make a difference, nothing changes.

I like akbb, I like jbc, I cant stress enough how little this problem upsets me. Im sharing because its part of my journey and failures are even more important than success when I am trying to learn and grow.

Just toss em in a glass of water, put em in a dark warm place and they will eventually grow a taproot.. no need to use paper towel
I usually do, it just hasnt worked yet with these seeds, so I am trying everything until something works, using my desired seeds and other seeds in my collection to get a baseline of comparison. I have only used the paper towel method once and it worked really well.

How old is she. Did you top her. I think she may be needing a support system in flower. I have been trying to follow a lot of haze grows and it seems most do not top.
Yea I topped like 2 times I think. Oh she definitely will, I use light hangers with copper wire hooks to hold branches.

I’ve had issues with VBB, Hawaiian cat piss and TKNL5haze f2 or 3 can’t remember off hand. I notified him. May get them replaced.
I’ve popped over 100seeds this winter and no issues with others. They seem to crack and want to grow but just peter out. I’m guessing age.
nice thing is the only 2 girls from the vbb pack one has a real nice blueberry nose the other is a frost monster.

Had good luck with Chocalope
All the girls have a little different nose. Chocolate fruit sewer halitosis chemical etc. Girls have been moved to a finishing tent. To ripen thems beans. Not my best run had some root issues early on.
