Advice on a low maintenance hydro set up.

I've been thinking about doing some kind of hydro for awhile. For awhile know I've done coco+soil with about a 50/50 mix, results have been great but I'd like to give some kind of hydro a shot. The problem is I work a lot, monday and thursday tend to be the gauntlet for new plants as I have 13 hour work days both those days. So I'm looking for a hydro system that is going to be a little bit more forgiving on my time.
I've ruled out aero, and fogponics. DWC seems to be a viable option, ebb and flow seems alright, but expensive, flood and drain may be my top contender.
I've always believed research can only tell you so much though. So I'd like to hear form people who have tried these systems. Which one will be forgiving enough to fit the kind of time constraints I have, and if you know of a good DIY guide to building one feel free to save me some time googling!

Flood and Drain. Buy a Tray and a Rez (bigger is more stable). Build your own stand outta 2x4, u can save ez 150 there. Get some fittings, house, and a pump and a timer and your ready to rock. A 4x4 with a 50gal rez should cost about 3-400 to build with a legit rez & tray.

You really think the legit table and res are the way to go? I checked out my local store and they seem pretty pricey, then again I was just looking at the setup+stand so the price may have been coming from the stand.

I saw a setup online where someone did it with a concrete mixing basin, you don't think thats any good?

You could use a rubbermaid or similar type tub for 30gal or less. I say the legit rezs are the best because they have a lid, can be drilled ect. You can start with whatever you can find to hold water. A 4x4 tray is like 100-130 tho, so def buy that. Other plastics won't be light protected/as thick, ect.
