i have a plant that didnt get it first node until about 4 or five in. up. so when i transplant it would it be helpful to take and shave a sliver of skin off about a in. above ground rub root hormone on the open wound and transplant further down in my soil. just above the open wound. ??????????? would it help create a stonger root base? or just a waste of time??

Just repot it with more stem below the level of the medium/soil.

yeah, it wont be necessary to shave it a bit.

BUT...I have to think a tiny bit of careful wounding right above the collar would not hurt it or impede its growth very noticeably, and could possibly encourage root growth in those areas.
