a 1.5 cu ft bag of FFOF is a little over 38.6 dry quarts (9.65 gallons), but I personally wouldn't put seedling or young clones into pure FFOF. The 2 strains I have from Barneys would get bad nute burn and possibly die, the other strain I have does fine in FFOF at almost any size. I can fill 5 - 3 gallon smart pots (with handles) transferring from 1 gallon nursery pot with 1 bag of FFOF with a some left over.

My plants will be 4 weeks old before I transplant them so they will be fine in FFOF

for me OF dries out pretty quickly in smart pots, I'm trying fine tune a mix that will drain the (wetness) quickly, but keep the moisture a little longer. So far +5% Perlite and +10% peat is doing a little better, but this is is just for my space/light/temp/humidity levels. It might be perfect as is for you.

fox farms is just fine for seedlings. I had that same concern about them getting burned but went ahead a tried and and it worked just fine! Go for it. As far as the smart pots ive seen the 2 gal work just fine. Depends on how long u tryna keep your flowers in them. How long veg for?

John just because your particular strain is fine in FFOF as seedlings.. doesnt mean all strains will be. Out of the 6 strains I am running right now .. 5 are fine in FFOF .. 1 gets burnt if I dont wait for 3 weeks to put her in it .. But I do agree "most" strains do fine in FFOF.. but some .. its too hot for when they are young.

I've used OF for seedlings and young clones for years, but for some reason my LSD's and Tangerine Dreams get nute burn from it.....my 1 pineapple chunk grow got nute burn too. Maybe it's the Barneys and not the FF.

Eternal .. same here.. its just certain strains .. MOST can go straight into it and thrive.. I had a problem with one of my strains.. I think it was querkle or blue dream .. that didnt like it at the seedling stage.. otherwise.. No problems with it

I have watch my own personal strain (random female bagseed #1 x random male bagseed #1= BRB *baby random bagseed) it grows so quickly in FFOF that if I let it veg for 5 days or more past it's flip day it will get to tall in flower. It's a stretcher, sativa dominant with noodly stems, airy buds, low producer, great flavor and even better high - it can handle almost any problem without slowing down while the other ones in the room have yellowing, burn or whatever....a true weed.

What strain did you burn in FFOF?

It was my querkle or blue dream.. i dont remember.. I would have to go back and look at my notes.. It didnt burn em tooo bad.. but they were the only strain that did it.. Now I start that one in light warrior .. but the rest get FFOF and perlite straight from seedling or clone.
