24 26w cfl on a single outlet

I got 3 sets of 8 cfl's. Each set is in a multiplug splitter i got 45 plants. People that know this kind of lightning how dangerous is to run those 24 bulbs on a single outlet they are pretty well organized and each set is hanging from the ceiling like any type of lamp you would hang. Any type of advice i would apreciate, all the setup was about 140$ only in the lamps, add pots and soil plus nutrients 250$. I found it pretty interesting myself, since its my first grow.

woahh dude you might want to put a surge protector and maybe even split the load to 2 outlets . the worst thing would be to come home to a bunch of firetrucks and police cars because your garden burned your house down.

Yes get yourself a surge protecter so just incase something does go wrong your house does not burn down and you don't get busted for cultivation in one day.

Well thanx guys but they are already flowering, the lights have been there for 2 months now and not a spark. i got 26 unknown strains, 2 sour deisel, 4 NL, 2 Rock Bottom, and couple of clones i tryied, first 2 months 24/7 and now 12/12

If you have 24 bulbs at 26Watts each, then your total consumption is 624Watts (24 X 26).

Outlets are usually rated for around 1500W (on the west side of the pond at least), so you are well below the rating for the circuit, provided you have nothing else on the circuit (a couple pumps/fans are fine, I'm talking heaters or other equipment that pulls a large load)

You don't seem interested in posting pics.why? just because you havent had any shorts or sparks doesnt mean it WONT happen in the future. (fire kills) It might not be the outlet but the cord might catch fire

Regular breakers are generally 20 amp which = 2200W. Provided his wiring is good, he's no worse off than some of you ghetto-ass Rubbermaid builders. Some of you guys with your wires half-spliced, duct-taped & run across the metal vents on the floors of your nasty trailers make me :wall:

Anyway an issue could be cooling for him. He'll need a good airflow (625 watts of heat!!) so the grow room doesn't get too hot and wilt the plants. The 2700k CFL's run quite a bit warmer than the 6500k's.

Phreak and BoiStoi are spot on - I'm running 24 CFLs from one outlet and have had absolutely no problems (I'm on my second grow).

Power consumption/lumen production are as follows:

Watts: 624
Amps: 9.36 Amps
Lumens produced: 38400

However, the lights, the timer, and one fan are the only thing on that circuit for a total power drain of under a 1,000 watts. This is well within safe limits of the 15 amp circuit that I'm on. My dishwasher, fridge, and stove (on another circuit) use a lot more amperage that these 24 cfls.

Make sure the cords wires are clean and in good condition (check on a regular bais) and use a fan to dissipate heat.

Having said this, I don't think I'll add any more lights on this circuit. My setup is just right for the small amount that I grow for personal consumption. I'm not growing anywhere near the volume you are, so I suspect you may have typical problems with too many plants and not enough light (elongated stems, loose and small bud production, etc).

If you're growing 45 plants, consider the amount of lumens available for each plant:

38,400 / 45 = 853.3

Don't think that's enough to give good results.

well i still dont have pictures, i dont have my own camera so i have to borrow one from a friend, i still managed to show you guys the arranged bulbs in three main lamps, crappy presentation but at least u get the idea

why dont i ever see anyone with logical creativity??? why not just make a large light fixture out of something you can cut to size (such as plywood); add as many light sockets as you would like, and then do a little simple wiring... wire them together so that they can use just one plug; and plug them into a GFI outlet (the ones with the "test" and "reset" buttons that keep you from frying if you drop the toaster in the bathtub), and you are good to go... i would say to spend $10 bucks on a basic electrical book, get to know it a little, and then design something both safe and efficient.... just my opinion :eyesmoke:
