i’m running a 14x20 room and i was running 2-5k BTU window units @90% capacity each 24/7. and when it hits 110°F outside even in my insulated metal building it still got up to 87°F!

so i started thinking of winter and what am i gonna do about heat? the window units are taking 15A each, heaters pull a lot.. FUCK

then i found out about mini splits!
i found a CHARGED 12K BTU mini split AC/heater for $700-800 on Amazon. it took some rewiring at my shop and i’m about to upgrade my breaker circuits just so i feel more comfortable (they’re 20s i’m upgrading to single 25s)

my shop is running on a 240 panel and i had an electrician help me wire it up. i didn’t use a relay box i ran it directly off one of my pre wired circuits.

this 12k BTU mini split pulls i BELIEVE.. 20A MAX and runs at about 17a

we overloaded that circuit just to make sure the breaker would kick it off so we didn’t have any kinds of issues electrically like FIRE lol and it worked like a charm.

whatever temp i set the inside unit at, is what the whole rooms temp becomes. even under the lights.

i’m very impressed! now i just need a second dehu or a bigger dehu and i will have absolute control over my sealed grow room!

it was a long day and i didn’t take any pictures so i’ll update pictures tomorrow! 91954743-A472-46B7-A2E8-E01AD4229684.jpegE68A80E1-EA3D-4119-81E8-FE0404D17A89.jpeg

They run a lot more efficient. I put a 12k btu mr cool in my spray foam insulated tuff shed and the temps stay steady even when I’m drying in 110+ summer days set at 62 degrees Fahrenheit. I use a dri-eaz 1200 dehumidifier all controlled by a trolmaster and my environment is completely on lock. Very slight deviation from the set parameters.
