1st grow. Supernova led onyx and easyryder auto.

That PH is way to low considering you tested the run off. If your watering with ph 7 water and you runoff is 5.6-5.9 that should mean that the actual ph is even lower. I test my runoff with the drops and I also use one of those stakes you put in the soil from lowes or homedepot and it works great (only cost about 7 bucks). My leaves have stopped yellowing and that plant has put on a lot more weight since I corrected the Ph. I just used some PH UP to correct my PH. My Ph was around 5.5 also when I checked my runoff the first time so I added some PH UP to my water/nute solution till it was 8.5 then watered with this till my runoff was 7. Now i just adjust my water/nute solution to 6.5-7 when I water to keep it steady. Hope this helps....Ph is the big thing I learned needs to be watched closely in my first grow.

Also I am growing some Easy ryders and onxy and HBD right now if you want to check out my journal. I just started LST'ing today so I will be interested in seeing how much your yield compares to my grow using this technique.

Right on! I really appreciate that feedback!! I was hoping someone would chime in bout that!! +rep for u for sure!

Well I have been watering with phd water at 6.5. I have the ph up and down solution as well. So your saying I should up the ph of my water and test the runoff till I get the desired run off level? I was thinking my phd 6.5 water is a good ph level. Is it? What is a good ph runoff level? Would it be 6.5 as well? Thanks I never thought of upping the ph to level it all out. I hope I'm understanding correctly. Gotta get back to work will check back later!!

Ya if your PH is really low one way to raise it is to up the Ph of your water a lot (I upped mine to 8.5) till your runoff is a little higher than the desired PH you want. In my case.... when watering with PH 6.5 water my runoff was 5.5 and the soil probe said the soil was 5.0 so i watered with 8.5 till my runoff was about 7.2 and the soil probe said 6.5

Also don't collect all of your runoff to test. Just collect the end of your runoff. when i did this I would water with about half a gallon at a time and test the last little bit of the runoff each time till it was where i wanted it (this method took me about 1 1/2 - 2 gallons total to get it up where I wanted it).

But there is another way to adjust your PH up also...... you can water (using 6.5 water) using 3x the amount of water as the size of your pot (people call this flushing or leeching and usually do this 1-2 weeks before harvest to get all the nutes out of the soil). So if your using 2 gallon pots you would water with 3 x 2 = 6 gallons of water. I avoid this way though because I have to buy extra water and because it flushes out all the nutes that are in the soil so you will for sure need to feed nutes after unless you are in the last couple weeks.

Well I hope this helps...I'm new to growing also but this worked for me so i don't see why it wont for you.

Like I said before I appreciate the feedback! I am a total rookie to growing, just going by research and the help from cool people like yourself! I'll stop by your grow soon, good luck with that! Well I asked a friend about this at work. He seems to think I shouldn't really worry bout the soil ph at this stage of my grow since I only have a few weeks left. I'm not too sure about his thinking on it. I also stopped by the local grow shop on the way home to by a loupe(gotta c the ladies up close), and I asked them about the soil ph. They asked what soil I was using. Told them fox farm ocean soil. Both people said I shouldn't have to worry bout the ph since I was using a quality soil. Hmm still not sold on that advice either. So I stopped at another store on the way home and bought a $6.00 soil test kit. I'm gonna check the ph with that. Already took the soil sample of each pot now I gotta let it dry a little before doing the test. Wish I would have been up on the soil ph earlier in my grow! Will definitely check it more on my next grow! Thanks again and I appreciate the feedback on this from anyone!

Just swung by your thread to see how your girls were coming along, they're looking really good. Way bigger than my Easy Ryders, and obviously bigger than my Onyx that was stunted. Looks like that LED is definitely doing the job! I'm going to harvest a couple of my smaller pheno. Easy Ryders within the next 7 days (between 8-9 weeks from seed), but my 3 larger pheno. ERs are going to need at least an extra week or two. Figuring to get between half and 3/4 of an Oz. best guess, which isn't anything to write home about, but I'm not complaining for a first grow. I'm sure it's because my 9" pots turned out to be only about 4-5 quarts instead of 2-gallons like the guy in the hydro shop told me. Is it too much to ask that they print the size of every pot on the bottom??

Speaking of LEDs, I finally broke down and bought one after tons of research and gathering first hand opinions from people that had used them. Went with the 250W Pro-Grow selectable LED from Hydroponics Hut, with separate modes for flower and veg, or you can use both simultaneously. They guarantee results equivalent to a 600W HPS all day long after extensive internal testing, and they offer a 90-day satisfaction guarantee to encourage you to try it out and if you're not 100% satisfied, return it for a full refund. Only saw one other LED product that offered the same guarantee, and that was on the Illuminator series of UFOs, but they were dramatically more expensive. Not sure if the Supernova has a similar guarantee, I didn't spend too much time looking at them when I found out the price, it's just out of my range but it's obviously a great light.

Keep rocking' with your grow, I'm sure you're gonna have a very nice yield!

Hello- Can I barge in here and ask a question? I'm wondering if you considered the Lumigrow led light, and if so why you chose against it?

I found this thread after looking at the smaller Lumigrow here.

It seems like a good LED option for a small grow.

Your girls are gorgeous btw. Good work.

Hey I just checked out that light! Dam that looks to be a really good light. I like it. Who knows I may have picked that light if I'd seen it months ago. I really like that 90 day guarantee. Nice warranty! I don't think you'll go wrong with that light! Nice price also! Good luck and I'll be looking forward to seeing your results with that light! Nice! IMO

Hey thanks for the kind words about the ladies! I appreciate it!

As for the lumigrow light I just checked it out earlier and seems to be another good light. I didn't look at those lights either a few months back. Unfortunately I have a problem that when I set my sights and mind on something I want it's very hard for me to switch. I seen my light in the high times best of grow gear guide and saw that it was good for all stages of growth and I just had to have it. I'm that way with just about everything! Shitty sometimes lol! Anyway you should also check out the light in an earlier post on here by Enonumus. Looks like a great deal. Thanks for stopping by.

:weed:Well tomorrow is week eight and harvest time is near(I think). I would love to harvest in 2 weeks, so i have been doing a little research on harvesting flushing and curing. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on this phase of the grow. Does anyone use final flush or clearex. I have read that you can just use blackstrap molasses instead of those. I have read that you need to flush with 3x the water as the pot that is being used. I have three gallon pots so nine gallons per pot for me. Do you flush every other day for the last 2 weeks? Dam i gotta ph 27 gallons every other day? It's been a week since the last feeding of nutes. Looks like the last feeding. I would love any advice on this! I plan to bring the ladies out of the cabinet tomorrow. I'm gonna check the trichomes and take some pics. Where would you check the trichomes at? All over? Or certain areas of the plant? Thanks:weed:

The whole thing about flushing them with 3x the water needed is only really done if you have salt buildups from unused nutrients. (with your next grow, you should do this every 3 feedings to prevent salt buildup which prevent your plant from absorbing water and nutrients.. ie: feed, water, water, feed, water, water, feed, water, flush,)

Just water them like you would normally but with regular water with no nutrients.
The black-strap molasses is used to give the bacteria something to eat to create some food for the plant without actually giving them nutrients, it is also supposed to give them a more pleasant taste.

As for checking the trichomes, check a few buds and leaves, most people cut the plants down when their trichomes turn a hazy amber colour.
Clear trichomes tend to give you a headhigh, amber trichomes give you more of a body high, while hazy amber trichomes are somewhere in between.

Another thing you may want to do it not water them for the last 2 days, as well as leaving them in complete darkness for those last two days. Not watering them will just help speed up the drying process and leaving them in the dark for two whole days will help give them the last burst of flowering.

Right on I really appreciate the sound advice you have given me now and before! I am going to take your advice on this! I have checked on the trichomes and they appear to be clear and some milky. Thanks!

It's a truly amazing first grow, you should be proud.

You are providing great publicity for Supernova lights. If I were you, I'd contact the manufacturer and tell them about your success as a firstimer. Show them what you've done and they might reward you, your testimonial and pics are money in the bank for them..

Lol oh shit you just reminded me that they asked me to write a review on the hid-hut website. Do you think they would want pics from my grow? I should email them. Actually I have corresponded through email a few times with them and told them that I have medical marijuana authorization. Lol I need to get that review done! Your right I am proud of myself for my first time especially since I was nervous as hell when I started. Yeah I know what a rookie! Lol thanks for the kind words!

Definitely, you deserve complimenting. You've done a great job. And you definitely could get something out of contacting them. The manufacturer should come through
with something if they are worth their salt. They can't beat this sort of advertisement. HidHut is pretty solid from what I can tell, and legit companies sometimes really come through for this sort of deal. You should at least get another light out of it. At least.

Cheers!
-----

edit: I'm not sure about the best way to go about it, but you need to play your cards right or you might get taken advantage of. Before you give anything away,
you might want to talk to someone skilled in dealing with this sort of property. Do you have any friends with legal expertise? Consulting someone first probably wouldn't hurt. I'm not saying you should be high-handed about this, just protect yourself.

btw- I wish you could get us all bbbaked, too. It really looks tasty.

HigH people. Well last night I flushed the Ladies. Just about a week to go and its harvest time. They are really smelling beautiful! Unfortunately a little too beautiful for some around here. I have some ONA gel out on a saucer with a little fan blowing over it. I think it's alright but my wife is worried and says she can still smell the ladies. I do have a carbon filter inside and when I put my nose to the exhaust I cannot smell the ladies. Must be some odors leaking out of the cabinet. My wife must have some super sense of smell because I don't think it's a problem. Anyway I got to make her happy so I am asking if anyone has any recommendations beside the ONA gel to kill the sweet smell of the Beautiful Ladies? I called the place where I bought the ONA and asked if they had any recommendations for something better. They said no. So now It's time to ask here and do some research. Thanks for any advice on this!
