1000 Watt MH and 2000 Watt HPS first grow

The two plants closest to the bulb in my HPS hood is causing some light burn I believe. It is also the second light and warmer over there so they also have a little heat stress. I am in the process of installing an AC unit...

In my experience the plants don't really react to the co2 until room temps are 85+. I would suggest getting a lux meter like this : https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005A0ETXY/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That wayou you can dial in your distance from the light and light coverage. also a simple test for how much heat is too much heat for your plant is hold your hand, palm down, at the top of the canopy, if you can feel heat on the back of your hand, the light is too close. seedlings look good, not too much stretching.

I got the AC installed and set it to kick on at 83 degrees. It has been at 85 and 86 and the growth WENT CRAZY but most of the plants are showing heat stress and the leaves are "bowling." Meaning they are cupping upwards like classic heat stress. So I am gonna try to keep temps a few degrees lower.

I am also gonna order a Lux meter like you recommended. Figure it would be very handy in this and future grows.

The A/C is a window unit that is installed outside my tent and I setup ducting to run inside my tent. I just have it laying on the ground but am thinking it might be better to have the cool air come out at the ceiling. In everything I have read people install mini splits up near the ceiling. So unless anyone has had a better experience having the cool air ducted to the ground I am gonna make that change later today.

Thanks for the kind words Field-O-Green!

My sativa strain has been droopy for a few days... I assume it is due to the heat stress but am unsure. I included some pictures of the heat stress in case anyone has any other thoughts as to what might be going on. This all started when I put them under the second 1000w HPS bulb. Which for one increased the heat but also put out A LOT more light. I have it the same distance as the MH but soon realized that was a mistake. I have a LUX meter on the way but it isn't here it. I also put in a progress picture :) All and all I think things are going ok

Could just be the plants hardening off from the additional light, could also be over watering? how long til you flip? my personal preference the week before I flip I citing off everything below the top 3 sets of leaves, excuse the photo post but it's for an example of how much they explode once I do that and flip. IMG_20161027_224741.jpgthat is the first week of 12/12, it's scarey to the new grower to remove so much growth but it is completely fine and you will be very happy with the results! Gotta cut put that undergrowth that will only sap the energy from your main colas! your grow is looking great man. nice first run

So my babies have finally stabilzed a little. I made too many changes too fast. I turned on the second light and started CO2 all at the same time. Between the increase in temps and lumens I shocked them a little bit. I have them a week to chill out a little and then flipped them to 12/12 about 2 days ago. Now I am working to get the humidity down during the night time. It gets to 75% to 80%... Not cool as I am worried about powdery mildew and the other issues that can arise. So I went out and bought a dehumidifier from Craigslist. Put it in the room and the humidity dropped down to 38% with in an hour. But the temp also climbed to about 80 degrees as well. I am not sure what to do, any input is appreciated20161103_194848.jpg 20161103_152427.jpg .

Sealed room
2 1000 watt HPS lights
CO2 with controlled which is running from about 1200-1380
80-83 during lights on
80-83 during lights off with the new humidifier. AC is now running at night to fight heat from dehumidifier.

Today I found a friend that has a contractors license and used it to get an 8 inch wye and a motorized damper. I am going to hook the wye up to my can-fan hooked up to my carbon filter sitting on the ground. Then setup the damper and a timer to vent the room at night. This will help control RH as well as dump all of the CO2 at night and bring in fresh air. There seems to be no down side to this idea. It is gonna cost some bucks and a couple hours to setup but I really like the idea..

Tomorrow is 2 weeks into their flower cycle so I am going to do some lollipopping tonight. I will post some before and after pictures along with some pictures of my seeds that are doing oh so well. I have never lollipopped before so I am not going to go too crazy. I am going to use the "fist" rule which basically means cutting everything off from the soil up to the top of my fist. Obviously gonna be less than a 1/3 of the plant but as this is my first time I am ok with that...

This is a little contraption I devised to help control humidity at night but also dump the CO2 full air for fresh air from outside the tent. Basically it is an 8" wye sitting on top of my 8" in-line fan which is on top of my 1000CFM carbon-filter. During the day the carbon filter just blows back into the tent scrubbing the air for smell. At night time an 8" electrical damper activates which opens the other side of the wye and allows air to be pumped out of the tent. This has several advantages. It keeps the humidity down and lowers the CO2 levels at night which the plants seem to like. As an added bonus, the air is dumped into my veg tent which increases the CO2 and humidity levels in there. So its a win-win.

You should remove everything but the top 4 sets of nodes on all those plants, no light getting down thru there, your gonna have a lot of larf when you could be having a bunch of big solid buds!!!
I cut off the bottom 3rd of the plant. It was so painful and hard for me to do... You really think I should cut off that much? It pains me to think about lol

Mainline those bitches. Cut it down to the first or second node and leg those branches grow out, then top the plant to between 8-32 colas.
