Practice with it by looking at your fingers, that will give you an idea of its' focal point. If it's anything like the ones I tried you'll have to have your finger almost touching the end of the scope before anything is visible. I went with a loupe instead.

I have to agree with BigBud. The "hot" house pic shows a doorway on the left which is dark, and the "cold" pic shows it as white. All they're showing is a color negative. I call shenanigans!

Reducing the diameter after the fan will increase the air pressure/air velocity, but you're gonna want to keep the intake side the same diameter as the fan. Making it smaller will only decrease the amount of air available to the fan, as atmospheric pressure is the only thing feeding it.

You can leave the light intake open, but the ideal setup would have the filter mounted inside the cabinet and your light's intake attached to that, space permitting.

Tape a furnace filter to an opening cut in one side of a cardboard box, then run some ducting from your air intake to another hole in said same box. Use a hepa filter if you want to really filter the incoming air.

From your diagram it looks like you're pulling your fresh air and dumping the hot exhaust into the bathroom. Does the bathroom have a roof fan you could use to expel hot air? Or a window?
