30X microscope and can't see anything..

just curious ...my wife bought me a 30x portable microscope for chirstmas .... gave it to me days ago think she got it off amazon.. it's got a straight scope that attaches to a plastic thing with a seperate light that also goes into the plastic at a 30 degree angle...THE THING IS.. i can't see shit .. i can get glimpses of trichomes for maybe a second and then lose it in a blink to darkness.... is there a method i'm missing??

It goes from 60 -100 x and it like under 20 dollars

Are you FOCUSING it in?

There should be a dial for focal length...

If it is what I think it is turn the light on, put it close to the thing you want to see (less than an inch i would assume) and dial the focus in... The trichomes look like mushrooms

Practice with it by looking at your fingers, that will give you an idea of its' focal point. If it's anything like the ones I tried you'll have to have your finger almost touching the end of the scope before anything is visible. I went with a loupe instead.

I'm doing what i thought was focusing with it ....i think i may need to adjust my eyes to it better...i don't know.. I do have a 30x loupe but its def not as much of a closeup as the scope... it seems

ahh, it's cheap $10, it's good, get it! 60x-100x zoom

I have the radio shack scope and a loupe for me the scope works great if I cut off a bud and lay it on a table does not work otherwise. The jewelers loupe works good I find my rifle skills a must have to steady you arm. just a cheap loupe from amazon.
