a plea from Sandra Fluke...

I got this email from Sandra this morning.

Shorter Sandra Fluke: Wah, I want free stuff!!!

"Dear desert dude,
When I’m out on the campaign trail for the President and progressive candidates for Congress, I often hear how shocked people are that in 2012 we’re still fighting to have affordable access to birth control, to be able to speak up for our reproductive rights without being labeled a “slut,”…for so many battles that our parents’ generation thought they won.

But I often hear from my fellow Californians that they’re so glad we don’t have anyone trying to take us backward here in California. I wish that were the case! This Tuesday in California, we’re again fighting for adequate school funding and the ability of labor to have a voice -- victories we thought we won long ago, but must defend again.

desert dude, voters like us have got to stop these efforts to turn back progress. That’s why, like you, I’m proud to be a member of Courage Campaign. Courage Campaign is fighting back through its online Progressive Election Center. It's got a polling place finder and the Progressive Voter Guide, which has recommendations on all 11 California ballot propositions from 14 trusted progressive groups.

But the Election Center can only make a difference if we make sure voters know about this resource. I’ve already shared it with my network of California voters, and hope you will too!

You’ve probably heard a little about two important propositions on the ballot this year:

  • Vote YES on 30!: Prop. 30 helps ensure that every child in our communities receives a quality education by funding our public schools, but there’s a well-funded campaign to defeat it.
  • Vote NO on 32!: Prop. 32 is crafted to look like campaign finance reform, but actually shuts the voices of workers out of the political process, instead giving even greater influence to corporations.
The polling on both initiatives is super tight, and every analysis shows that voters like us will decide the fate of Props. 30 and 32. Now is the time for our generation’s voice to be heard loudly and clearly -- to show that we will not go backwards, but rather forward to a progressive future!

Check out the Progressive Election Center, get up to speed on all the issues on California's ballot, and please, share it with every voter you know!

Yours in the fight for California's future,
Sandra Fluke

out of state agitators attempting to influence a california ballot initiative? who would have imagined. seems like only yesterday the leftieis were screaming about mormons trying to deny the voters their ability to decide for themselves with their supernaturally powerful magic money.

Pay for your own luxuries. I don't get what's so hard to understand. Unless you're dying of w/e and need "birthcontrol" but then it should be labeled as such. I bet not many here know caffeine can be prescription too called caffcid. Given to babies.

She wouldn't need "free" birth control pills unless somebody was fucking with her.

or unless she needed them for any number of medical problems that women suffer.

you demonstrate a knowledge of women on par with rush limbaugh, who thinks that women take birth control pills like he takes viagra.

it's medicine, not a luxury.

Bucky,
Not getting pregnant isn't medicine. With that attidude you should still endorse Carne getting shock treatments. Pregnancy is a normal part of life without none of us would be here. Preventing it isn't medicine.

I took two Ibuprofen tablets, 200mg each, last night. I seem to need them more the older I get. They weren't free.

I have my teeth cleaned every six months. Costs me about $200 each time.

Life is not free.

if you have a pussy it should be. but taxpayer funded vaginas are STATE PROPERTY!
time to evaluate a system to ensure public access to this national resource.
looks like we's getting some 'tang homeys. line forms on the left.

get dental insurance, or go to the local college where aspiring dentists (read: students) train.

ovarian cysts, menstrual cramps, and other problems that females face are medical problems.

your misogyny doesn't change any of that.
