Balactus - Return of the Grow Journal - Bagseed Edition.

Lol I'm still noob so correct me if I am wrong. I am not 100 percent on when to worry about stressing them to become a male/herm. Herm would be only flowering I think. And any stress pushes it more towards being a male right?

that is a debatable subject on what causes hermi
i think some strains it is in genetics that cause it to be more prone to have hermie if stressed

I couldn't look at them this morning cause they were sleeping but i can tell that one of them is looking happier even if their bottom leaves look like shit. Its upper leaves and next set are growing in decently. The other one however Idk if it is doing okay, shocked, stunted, or what. Doesn't look like any changes with it. It was kind of already growing sideways cause I didn't prop it up early on so I threw a twist tie around its neck and taped it to the side. I hadn't really thought much about LST except that I was planning to LST. I'll prolly drill some holes in the pots tomorrow to leave room for some string and things for LST.

The 3rd baby who was not transplanted because of lack of space looks emaciated. I think I'm gonna replant outside away from my place and give it a good water. I liked its leaves better, thin sativa leaves as opposed to these fatty leaves my other 2 have. I'll have pics up maybe tonight just as an update. I am happy to report also that even though the temp has fluctuated to 90-92 last night cause it was hot in my room. The temps have been stable all day.

what size fan u got and what is room size

You forgot already, its a micro stealth PC grow. So not really much room lol and I have a 200mm intake and a 120mm exhaust that pulls much better CFM as well as the same type 120mm fan blowing over the plants towards the bulbs. I am still working out what I am gonna do as far as putting in another fan to blow on the plants themselves but I dont think I can find an oscillating fan of that size. Prolly gonna throw in another small PC fan to blow air from the back towards the front where the intake blows air upwards towards the fan blowing over the bulbs and from there towards the exhaust. I think this idea would work best if I can install this plexiglass in there to act as a cooling tube. Then again I would rather have the fresh air blowing on them. I am over thinking.

ok now i remember
in my defense i follow alot of threads

well temps u got aint bad for a pc grow

Yes I know you follow a lot of thread...its because of you I always have to click my name so that I can actually see my threads and not just the millions that you commented on lol. Maybe a personal question, you work? work on the comp so always on the site? retired? I just have too much free time during the week. My job doesnt have the hours for me so I only work weekends+friday.

Anyways I am pretty happy bout the temps just like you said for a PC grow I can't complain. I know if I had a much bigger space it would be much easier to manage. The only issue is that after I've been in the room chilling on my computer or whatever for awhile. My grow box temps slowly go up to 90. At least they aren't propped up to the light anymore. The 3 CFLs should be plenty of light without stretching hopefully.

For my next watering I think I am going to add Epsom salt to it. Good idea? Just to keep mag levels up or another thing I should wait on?

im a weed baron

Alright because I know you're a night owl and because I can rely on your wisdom to the best of my knowledge I will post some pics because I get stoned stupid and get to lazy to do it later.

UPDATE:

So I am now rethinking, is the distance of my little guys too far from the lights? Remember I've added the 3rd CFL, another 23w(100w) 6500K bulb. It went up to 93 in there so I have it propped open at the moment. I think once I have all this junk in my room shut off then the heat should go down in here and hopefully keep them at most at 90-91. I know it isn't ideal but for such a small space I am battling with it.

Oh yeah here is the first one I put in the pots, it wasn't living up like the other 2 so I am just gonna toss it. Too lazy to plant it somewhere else.

Now here are some pics of my 2 MVPs.

The one that was growing kinda crooked, its root became exposed when I transplanted so had to cover that up and just decided to use that as a start to LST.

Now here is where I am lost, its gotta be either pH issues or deficiencies but I doubt deficiencies since it is in some fresh soil. I plan to give it some Epsom salt in the next watering though. I wanna play with this and see what happens. I am content so far to see these 2 stand up right after not looking at them all day. They are finally on 18/6 light schedule.

Sorry for the quality here, really hate this Kodak, its pretty old and in general hard to know whether its a good pic or not from the camera.

Now a couple things. Can I start topping/fimming? And if so what portion do I clip exactly? To my knowledge it is at the bottom of node you are cutting or pinching off right?
Also next grow I plan to get me some dolomite lime to add in the mix as well as adding more adequate drainage to the mix. FFoF is pretty good as far as drainage but I wanna play with it. I have also decided to go with tap water from now on for watering. Boiling a big pot at the moment that plan to let cool and sit out for the night. Should I be pHing the water then from the getgo?

how far is light
and that last pic trim the shit on end of leaf just past the dying part
and the first pic cut them 2 dying leaves at bottom off

The closest one sitting directly under the lights is 4inches away from the lights and the other is further but I am taking into account the heat in there. I don't want them to get burned. The temps aren't going down from 90. I really hope it wasn't like that all night last night. I knocked out without checking them. I need to sanitize these little pruning sheers real quick before i give em a haircut.

well how close can u put your hand before light heat is hot on skin

Probably half a text book higher I suppose. I am just afraid that the heat will stress them too much once I close'er up for the night. I very much like watching them grow.

UPDATE: I really didn't want to post any pictures tonight or an update for that matter but I've been very happy with the plants growth so far and also I got high so here goes.

Day 19 Bagseed

Are they at a proper height for their age? The grow box is about 21inch in height give or take.
The one leaning on the right was the one growing sideways so just put a twist tie to keep it down
and its growing back up again.

The one on the left.

A lot of growth happening down there. I've only read up on LST and really trying not
to do a HST (High Stress Training) if you catch my drift. I've seen somewhere pinching
somewhere midway or lower and then anchoring it down. I am just wondering how much
pressure to apply as I don't want to break it off. I am sure I am over reacting I just
want someones opinion on it. This baby is also starting to develop the vegging smell with
that hint of skunk. Its very very light but noticeable when your nose is up to it.

The right one.

Really content with the "Just Add Water" thing going on right now. Can't wait till I
actually need to use some nutes but I am curious to see how long the nutes in the
FFoF last. The lower growth on both plants don't look the greatest ranging from yellowing,
to burns, to a spot of dried death but everything above it are growing in nice and green.

QUESTION: I've decided that I would rather FIM than top, as to reduce stress and keep
them low and bushy. I am pretty sure they are both indica due to the fat leaves but
I reiterate that it's still my first grow :-P. I am looking at as many vids and sites on how
to FIM and really don't want to mess it up. I think I am on a 4th node in there. Should
I be good to go or wait? And also do I pinch the small head coming out of the top or also
the 2 leaves coming out with it to the side?

Temperatures have been stable and ranging from the 81.5 its sitting at now to the 88.1
it was sitting at earlier. As long as we keep having hot humid days, our AC will keep blasting.
I think if I decide to grow in the winter it will be easier to manage heat. I've kind of started to
cope with the fact that my box will never have great temperatures. As long as I have this cooling
tube idea with this plexiglass I believe I can bring it down. But I am mostly worried about heat stress
that may make them more inclined to becoming males or later down the road stress them enough
to turn hermie during flowering.

Purchased some Epsom Salt from my local CVS store also and plan to use it for the next watering perhaps.
I've heard that its hard to O.D. them on this stuff so a small amount should be good. I am also only going to
use tap water from now on that I've boiled and let sit out overnight. It was a good idea to transplant
them when I did even though they weren't root bound there were some feeder roots showing around the
bottom and edges. No more burning or yellowing of upper growth :).

Lookin real good bro, ima gonna sub up to your topic since youve been helping me and following mine. Question, once your seed cracked and you buried it in your medium, did you add light to them before they popped through the surface?

Yeah I left them on 24/0 light schedule up until this past week I changed it to 18/6. Its best to start them on your vegging light schedule imo. They will grow already accustomed to it with little disturbance. And just because you commented Ill throw a couple pics up. I did some LST and actually have some concerns.
