Balactus - Return of the Grow Journal - Bagseed Edition.

Okay I was gonna add pics but photobucket is busy sucking a nut or something so I can't get them up.

My babies are all droopy obviously from underwatering and I think it may be time to start adding nutes. I was too high/tired to do anything even though I should have watered them last night. I am gonnna add about 1/8tsp to a gallon and go from there. I am sure they will perk up after a good watering.

sounds like a good plan too bad photofucket is messed up

oh they will perk right up in a couple hrs had ones before i thought i killed then 2 hrs later kapow they sprung up

The one that looked like it had just been shot and near death was reaching for the light a couple hours later :). But now the issue of discoloration. I am sure it may take some time before the added nutes show any effects but the leaves are showing yellowing. MY guess would be Nitrogen deficiency so only time will tell if the nutes help. I bought 2 pots cause more than likely at some point the least healthy will need to be slain. That or whomever shows male parts first. I am hoping to see some sort of signs this week. I think by 3rd week sex should have shown correct? They are coming up on the 3rd node so I will also start some LST this week as well as some topping. I'll mess around with photobucket later so maybe I can get some pics up. I also got some pH test strips because the electric soil one is doing jack shit. Can't be a constant 7 all the time so useless. I will also be moving them to 18/6 which I should have done a long time ago. Gonna gradually do it with an hour each day I think. It will do the least amount of shock. I should have done from the beginning but the grow box wasn't ready for any light timing. I also was looking at something to hang that plexiglass but again no dice.

If this grow does not work out, I will probably postpone further growing until I've gotten a place with my gf.

Don't be afraid to water with a pH'ed Epsom salt solution. I usually hit all of my plants every 3rd watering with a 2tblsp to 1gal RO/DI and then pH it down to neutral. It won't build up in your soil. Mag is critical for photosynthesis and the sulfates help build strong cell structure.

On your pH'ing your nutrient solution. It's exactly that. Add your nutes to your RO water, shoot a pH reading and then adjust.

I wish photobucket wasn't sucking. My babies grew up a bit. Moved them away from the light. I heard the 3rd week you can tell the sex. Will it show on the 3rd node? I'm still trying to get the hang of pHing water with nutes and everything. I got some pH solution to test fresh water with. According to it the water with the nutes I put in were about 6.5 I think but I didn't get the solution until after I had fed them so I didn't get a chance to test the run off. I think that is the biggest reason why I am having issues with them is the fact I haven't pHed anything up until now. Been using distilled water in FFoF. I think I may either need pH down or need some epsom salt to toss in

QUESTION: Where can I find Epsom Salt that I can use on the plants. I heard there are 2 kinds. Or are they all the same?

UPDATE NEED ASSESSMENT:

My apologies on the huge pics. I'll fix that next time I upload some pics. I didn't realize photobucket would make them huge.
So I finally figured out why I couldn't get pictured uploaded onto photobucket. I guess they changed some settings in an update or something that I had to physically change myself.

Anyways here are the pics from yesterday just as an update from what they were and then some newer pics from a few minutes ago.

Then after watering and a little nutes which I shouldn't have given them yet. My pH is probably way off I am thinking getting too alkaline but I am not sure. The soil test meter I had was a dud so I grabbed some ph test strips instead. The nute solution I added was about at 6.5 I believe but I didn't get the strips until AFTER I had watered them so I don't know the run off pH. My best guess is they are showing signs of the pH being off.

These are all bagseeds mind you so this is really just learning for me. They have been through a lot of stress. I'd be surprised to get a female out of them.

Yeah my plants will probably be dead by end of this week thanks for the help anyways those that commented. And may spider mites and aphids feast on everyone elses.

why are you giving them nutes so young
stop for now and if soil dry flush them with plain water and stop nutes for awhile
what amount of nutes u give the 1/4,1/2, or what strength?

last couple pics they look stressed but i think you are more stressed than them. if they are still mostly green keep growing dont give up!

Actually they are progressively getting yellower from the leaves and developing a slow browning and drying out. The younger leaves are still green but now showing some brown spots there. The lower leaves look like death has a yellow hat on.

Alright so I think I understand now what I should do. These little guys will most likely die but I will fight for them. Then onto the next bagseed seedlings. Until the day I grow bagseed perfectly I won't use my bought seeds. But now that I have basically everything I need as well as the knowledge I think I can start them off better next time around and keep the momentum. And I'm pissed cause I found perfect pots I could have used in my backyard instead of buying some oh well. I also grabbed some pH up. My run off is coming out at about 6. The guys at the hydro store kept trying to convince me that plants will buffer the ph on their own to a degree but I think at this point they need a kick in the ass. After taking out all the books that were propping up my pots and adding a 3rd 6500K CFL, the temps are surprisingly stable then again its a beautiful day/night. I think without the books in there, there isn't much to heat up maybe, Idk thats my guess. I just need to do a slight light proofing and they are 100 percent ready to thrive in there...if they do survive I mean. I hooked up the light timer and it is set. So theres my shpeal, I am hoping to get some sort of feedback or witty comment.

i think they got a good chance
think positive

just leave them by stop messing with them sometimes we love our plants to death
just give them water

Believe me these plants have been stressing me plenty. If these guys survive to flowering I'll be happy. I really don't wanna throw out this 3rd one but I don't have any room now since the others are in bigger pots. I'ts slowly dying anyways. Maybe I should plant it somewhere away from here and leave it there after a good watering and say goodbye.

On the contrary, you haven't seen the current state of my plants lol. Those look like beauty marks compared to mine. I'm hoping to see some perking up within the next day or say. Though they may be in shcok since I'm taking them off 24/0 and shifting to 18/6 for power saving and better growth. I should have started them on it but I didn't have the case set up or the timer on hand.
