I think you are on the right track, bend the plants and make as even of a canopy as you can, get your hps about a foot away from the top. I think you should get some trays for under the pots, it will help keep the moisture in between waterings.

If you can figure out a way to get fresh air down there it would make a world of difference. How about two 4" dryer ducting lengths, one on the bottom and exhaust out the top with another, you could use those duct booster fans inline too. you just gotta figure out how to route them outside.

You started with basic soil, That's what your in man. Potting soil from home depot has enough nitrogen, use that and get some worm castings and bat guano on line.
75% potting soil 20% worm castings and 5% bat guano will make a good mix next time. Oh, maybe wanna add some perlite or coco for drainage, like another 10% will do it.

Then get your tap water and fill a bucket and let it sit for a while to dissipate the chlorine before watering with it. 24 hrs or 12 hrs with an air stone.

That should help,

Good luck man.

Bro those plants will never be done in 30 days sorry. #1 temps will slow down bud production by alot. #2 that plant is way too tall for a 400 hps. Your light will only shine down like 3-4 ft max so the bottoms are going to be garbage. Also since she is so big of course she is going to bud slower than a smaller plants more work the plant has to do more bud sites. I grow 6ft-8 ft plants but i go vertical with 1k hps's check out my grow in my signature feel free to ask any questions PM if you like whatever we are here to help bro.

If you bend those plants down, bring up your smaller ones sit them on milk crates or buckets or something so they can be closer to the light and drop your 400 as close as possible before burning them. I put my hand under the light and I feel the heat if its too hot for you then its too hot for your girls.

The bottom of the plants are doing way better than i thought, i think because i have side lighttings with cfls. and its pretty light in that room, i think it just needs more time..

If they are just gnats then the only harm is they stick to the trichomes and you end up smoking bugs with your buds.
Ive had real good luck with sm-90 added to the res and foliar spray.

You could get some washed sand and cover the first inch or so of the soil and get some sticky traps too.
