A test in progress.... Miracle Grow soil vs. Fox Farms soil. Is MG really that bad?

My pleasure, in fact when you search, they're is a gent who's been getting arrested who's sole purpose in life is to grow weed and make it into extract form for cancer treatment, when he went to court he brought dr's and patients to speak on his behalf, and the court wouldn't call a fucking one of them. He estimated one pound of high grade mj turned extract and consumed over a 3-5 month period evenly would cure the cancers it was capable of curing...happy learning...

MG..FF...Go hydro good ol plain water!! The money people spend on soil products after trying this and that equal up to a good self maintaining hydo setup. Do it right the first time.
Dont treat your ladies like dirt and have them get all mancho on you and grow some balls.

Actually, they're are dirt growers that get mostly females now. He'll, I'm still new to indoor, and by doing 12/12 from seed I get almost all girls..my last batch was only 5 plants, and 3/3 of the sativa's came out female. Don't get me wrong, hydro systems have shown good results, but when shit goes awry, they're is no time to fix it. In fact, an extremely experienced growir, integra, was showing picks taken 8 hours after trying a new product, the whole batch was dead. In dirt, if I fuck up, I see signs of burn, flush, and thats it...and I've heard alot of good things about hydro systems, that they were cheaper than dirt farming has never been one of them...

I started from seed in some MG seed starter everything went fine except one burning(dinafem power kush) from the MG organic but it was a diff. strain from the rest. It seemed during flowering the soil did not hold water at all unless I leeched them. And it was extremely full of bark. And also I bought multiple bags of MG organic and they did not all look them same. I added perlite and verm. about a cup of each to a 5gal bucket. This go around I am going with FFOF and mixing 2 out of 4 with FFOF and FFHF. I had a awesome outside grow with FFHF with FF nutes still not chopped yet though just got a week or less waiting on trichs to turn.

thats strange.... I use MG Organic Choice and I hand mix the entire bag with one full bag or MG perlite. I mix until my wrists hurt. I rarely see evidence of bark. I dump a huge bag in a large tote and then dump a bag or perlite on top and start mixing. I've never had problems with it holding water.... that just sounds strange. In fact, in VEG, while in 6.25" square pots, they would only need watering every three to four days while under flouros. I have some in flowering now with MG OC and I water or feed every other day now, bigger pot and larger plant using up more water.

Sorry you had problems with it, I swear by it.


Prof Jaw, keep track of watering needs as well would you please? Let's get all possible charges against MG covered in this test. Be a real shame to have someone come along and try to make claims that so and so is better because of..... and it be something we didn't think of. I can think of several thresholds.... which plants need food added first, which soil retains moisture better, which soil has a better PH buffer, which plants are bigger and maybe a time reference as well. Hell, we can even go yield and taste and buzz.

I know often times certain ingredients are regional, so it could be a regional issue...

Okay guys, here's the update...



...one of each, is perky, and one of each, is a little droopy. They're neck and neck. The closest plants are in MG, and the rear two are in FF soil. Here's some new pics....

Plus, anytime I hear someone talking smack on MG I'm just going to direct them to this thread and tell them to stfu. I'm using MG organic currently and I used MG potting mix for my first plant.. no problems to speak of, but I can't talk comparatively because I've never used FF.

Yes, I sensed that, as I was over in Europe, curing the blind. So, I made a mad-dash to the forum, and updated it with some news pics, asap. Good thing I hold growing, in high importance, huh?lol

Still neck and neck. I just took a peek at 'em, and if anything, it's the FF that has the droopiest plant. The one in MG, seems to be perking up a little faster. Two more days, and there should be more difference between the two. Stay tuned.....

†LHFAO† And well you should, this grow is more important then they're blindness, selfish blind bastards....†LOL† I need to be careful saying that, I'm already legally blind in my left eye (has a permanent fog, which is funny, because even with that it see's better then my "good" right eye when I'm not wearing glasses/contacts)

TAKE THAT FF, speaking of, when I first came to rui there was a prick saying you NEEDED ff in order to grow dank, couldn't be done without it...this thread will be used for years to come as a reference, watch.
