i think many of us have been where you are at one time or another in our lives. i really feel for you because i know personally it can feel like there is nothing left worth living for. i find weed is great for introspection while keeping my feelings under control. however, and i offer this only as a thought, but too much weed when depressed can worsen your condition if you are clinically depressed. think of it as medication that can help at the right dosage but too much can be harmful.

ya going to school for psychology i would agree with desertrat... it is just like anything else in life, good with moderation...smoking will help but if you are clinically depressed it is good to still see a psychologist because even the best anti-depressant is worthless without clinical follow-ups in my opinion.

I am in the same boat. Depression and Anxiety. It can quickly turn into a whole mess of pills if your doc goes that route. Anyone have any suggestions on strains?

I would say something of high sativa genetics, with a "up-lifting" type high...

Although I really have never had any depression, have found at times that my morale can come down when I ponder to deep into thought with cannabis. I tend to just let it expand my mind, and free my spirit. I always get the "Everything gonna be Alright" feeling when I smoke.

Precisely! In the words of my hero..."Don't worry, Be happy!" haha

i have moderate depression/anxiety - diagnosed
this thread isn't too bad, but being depressed and clinical depression can be very far apart
anyways, on the clinical study side of things, MJ use in anxiety seems to have more evidence to back it up
but from years ago, i can testify there are some strains that really seem to help with depression
and when i say help, i don't mean better high
i have had the rare strain or 2 where the high was OK, not all that strong
but the 'after effect' on depression was huge
the high didn't seem to have much to do with it
from what i've read over the last year or so, i suspect some Oaxacan based strains have some magic in them for depression

When I was a child I was aware, at times of this overwhelming fear. I also felt sad a lot. When I was 10 years old my Mum and Dad seperated. I saw my Dad assult my Mum on two occasions around that time. He punched her one time and cut her forehead open the other time he cut her on the cheeck with a knife. These were the first and last times I ever saw domestic violence before then we were a regular family of three with a cat, dog and some fish in a tank. I'll move directly to now because for me to cover 23 years of various life experience is going to be a drag for me if not for you. I've been a drug addict, using and abusing pharmaceutical and street drugs aswell as alcohol and tobacco. I'm clean now and have been for several years. I've been to anxiety managment, I've took different antidepressants, I had sessions with a consultant clinical psychologist over a period of two years and I've used the councelling services of my then drug and alcohol support team aswell as having a few chats with a community psychiatric nurse. Looking back to my childhood I was very good at hiding my feelings. I started using substances in my very early teens. I blowed my brains out that much with shit that I couldn't even think, but then I suffered from psycosis. If you have what society views as mental health issues these can be difficult to deal with. It's ok from a legal point of view in the uk to take psychiatric drugs that are know to have unpleasant and nasty side effects but you can't use ganja to self medicate. I'm aware of my mind every day, it is a constant effort to manage irrational thoughts and get on top of the shitty low down feeling. From my own experience I would advise that you try your very best to get a handle on your mind before you complicate things and put other factors into the mix like drugs, even weed. We are all unique, similar in ways too but the mind is not so easy to understand or predict. Some peolpe have to take meds daily for long periods, that's just the way it goes. Try to know and understand yourself the best you can. Seek help if you feel the need. Don't beat yourself up.

Sativa is very good for depression. I've been there myself.
