came across this homemade air conditioner

Cool video. Would be cool for a shits and giggs science project with the kid or grandkid, but no one should make this to try and cool a tent or whatever. It will not work due to the first law of thermodynamics; that is, the total energy of an isolated system always remains constant.

can you explain that in simple terms please

Looks real cool Id say if they just isolated the hot part with another fan drawing air thru it to exaust outside.. aka a single hose portable ac. Idk why the guy didnt do that. It probably wont cool a large space but a closet maybe. Or grow tent but idk where youd fit it and I wouldnt do that either.

I dont put dehuey in tents either even if its small. Im a believer in leaving that outside and the tent ir space draws in the desired temp and rh.

Idk much about this stuff but surprised it works. Id think the coil isnt supposed to freeze over. If it works anything like a ac or dehuey tho. Its working in the video lol.

ki was thinking tents when i posted it, , but also thaught with some tinkering or redesigning it, it could be something that would work in a larger space.
i don't know diddly squat about thermodynamics or anything like that. so was unaware of the problems with the project
