Making small batch of oil

Freezing is a MUST. I always freeze my material AND my solvent. Also when you harvest, how it was stored and the age of the material play a huge role in the outcome. Passing it through a carbon filter before reduction/evaporation/vacuum can give you some very clean final product, almost clear, the shatter ends up looking kinda like clear glue from a hot glue gun.

I took down 2 plants, and I stuffed everything but the stems and buds into a mason jar, and it went into the freezer for the day along with a jar of ISO.

This is the ISO after a 30-40 second wash. On one hand, I can't wait to see the results, but on the other, I can't see anything, and my brain is screaming out "Wash it again!"

Not gonna... I'm letting this sit in the freezer for another couple hours, and then will filter it and set it out to evaporate in front of a fan.

It looks like maybe a tinge of green on the surface, but I think that's just the light... this is perfectly clear... (the jar is frosty)

Sounds like a whole chemistry lab!

I just do very small batches, my lab consists of a few mason jars, some coffee filters, and a fan :)

Way back in the days when I used to do an ethanol wash on my best bud, I would throw in couple of tablespoons of powdered activated charcoal and after it was filtered it went from dark green to light amber the final product was a honey oil that left no residue on foil when chasing the dragon.

I've seen mention of using silicon containers for your concentrates? This oil I made from washing my grinder is so thick I'm having a hard time getting it off the paper. I'm just trying to get ice size blobs for the bong.... Would a silicon baking mat type thing work? I make tiny batches, so storage isn't an issue :) I figure I could cut one of those up into a few usable pieces.

Never heard of this.... can you explain?
When you put a blob onto some aluminium foil and heat it from below with a candle flame and you chase the resulting plume of vapour. This is a fairly well known and common technique often used for opiates like heroin.

You can make this set up from what you have you just need a vac pump and some valves, plexiglass and a tile drill bit for drilling through glass(they are much better than glass bits) rubber tube and some kind of rig to hold all of it.

Yup me too, back in the day I just tossed it in the solvent and gave it a good shaking and then passed it through the coffee filter again, this is where I got the idea to make this set up, it works a lot better than I though it would.

I was using metal containers but there was some left and that bothered me. I switched to silicone containers and no matter how thick it gets I can roll it off with my metal scoop, quick tickle with a lighter flame and it becomes very spreadable.

Here is my 3-5 minute wash of fresh/frozen. It was an experiment, I usually use dry material (frozen)

I'd heard it related to that, but not smoking oil in tinfoil... which I have heard of, just never done it... the tinfoil thing, well, neither actually... lol
