Homemade oil for my vape pen

CBD is pretty awesome stuff.

I am sure your niece feels a lot better both emotionally and physically now that her system isn't being burdened with so many seizures all the time.

Has the CBD helped the intensity of her seizures at all, because that was something I noticed right away, the intensity decreased quite a bit.
My seizures used to be very violent.

Do you know what's in the herbal concoction your sister in law has your niece using?
She sent me this, but I think she misunderstood. I think this is the cbd my niece takes, it's not real clear if you check the link.

It's good that you guys have found something that works for your niece.

If you don’t mind me adding my two cents…

If I were you guys I would look for another product.
Here’s a suggestion.
The Haleigh’s Hope stuff is crazy expensive, for no explainable reason.
From what I can tell, they are selling 200-400mg of crystalline CBD dissolved in either safflower or MCT oil for $75-$150, which is way more than it’s worth.
This is $2.50 to $5.00 per ml
You can make it yourselves for about $0.72 a ml using organic MCT and an organic (but unregistered) full spectrum crystalline CBD from this website.
https://www.thecbdistillery.com/product/99-pure-cbdelicious-formulation-powder-hemp/

You can buy a similar tincture (500ml) from the CBD Distillery for $1.17 per ml
https://www.thecbdistillery.com/product/500mg-cbd-tincture-fullspectrum/

Their products are non-GMO, pesticide free, and organic (but they haven’t splurged for the certification).
The difference is, they are pretty transparent and show lab results and name all the ingredients in their product.
There is nothing left to wonder about with this company.

I am not affiliated with them, just to be clear.

Speaking of being fully transparent, the full price I calculated is $63, which will give you enough full spectrum crystalline CBD for 90ml of tincture and it will leave you with 29 or so ounces of MCT to make more tinctures in the future (this price is including the cost of shipping and a basic percentage for tax), so that’s the price you should have to pay.
I hate when people say X cost $20, but then you find out it really cost closer to $40 with all the hidden fees.

Then next time you make tincture, the cost will only be $33, because you already have the MCT oil. So the price for the second batch will be $0.37 per ml.

Here’s a link to the MCT oil I am talking about.
I went with the 32 ounce option because this seems to give the best price break, otherwise you will be paying like $15 for 8 ounces.
https://www.amazon.com/Viva-Naturals-USDA-Organic-MCT/dp/B00MGW5UVY/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=MCT+oil&link_code=qs&qid=1552470458&s=gateway&sourceid=Mozilla-search&sr=8-7&tag=mozilla-20

I understand if you have loyalty to the Haleigh’s Hope brand, that’s cool, but I just thought you should know that they are over charging
you and there doesn’t seem to be a valid reason why.

Unless I am way off base and missing something, then please let me know.

One last thing, you may want to look into putting your niece on a ketogenic diet. For some it really helps, for others (like me), it does nothing.

I hope this was helpful.

I thought the price was over the top myself. I don't think they care though, they have money. They're two states away from me, so it's not real feasible for me to make it for them. She switched up since the last time I talked to them, she was buying charolettes web, I remember that was expensive too. She isn't using the herbal concoction I mentioned either, I think as she learns more, she changes things up. Whichever way about it, my niece's seizures are under control still, which is what's important. I thought I might have something more useful for ya bud, but I'm pretty sure you're more advanced than me in this area. Have a good one man.

You are definitely right, as long as your niece is happy and mostly seizure free, that's all that matters...

We're here to help each other.

Found a local place that sells a vape oil they market as solvent free, and 10ml, not much more info other than it is for vaping and it is full spectrum.
Price is fair, I'll be making the deposit tomorrow.

So, this really interests me. I have two older dogs, one is having some joint issues, they both have fatty tumors. I have been giving them CBD mixed with fish oil or a commercial joint oil for dogs. I also give the guy with the joint issues a drop of 500 mg CBD oil when it seems he needs some extra relief.

It seems to help a lot, but I wish it wasn’t so expensive. I’d grow CBD strains, but I don’t want ANY thc at all for the dogs. I have been buying this:
https://katsbotanicals.com/product/cbd-hemp-oil/ in 500 mg strength. I also see that they have the isolate, like what you refer to:
https://katsbotanicals.com/product/cbd-isolate/ pretty much the same price, too.

I don’t want to derail the pen oil talk, but I’d love to hear thoughts on this and what the best and cheapest alternatives are.

I'm having a hell of time trying to get my rosin pressed dabs into a cart. I'm not into PEG/VG so have been trying with terpenes only. Just seems no matter what it wants to get chunky after a while. No luck whatsoever trying to push that stuff through a 0.22 or 0.45 um syringe filter, just gets clogged.

Is there any hope for us small guys who want to get a solventless extract into a cart form? Maybe I just have to succumb and mix with PEG/VG?

If you go back in the last 10-15 pages. Someone mentioned they use this for just dropping rosin into. Can't remember who, but it's someone I see around a lot, so my bad when you read this. Been meaning to buy one, I guess now is as good of time as any, lol.

Im right there with you. I've tried 2 liquifiers and have 2 more on there way. I think so far my issue is I'm trying to make the most potent carts possible so I'm not using enough liquifier to be able to run through filters. I've been mixing 1 gram rosin to .3ml liquifier but I'm going to mix 1 to 1 ratio as a test batch to see if it will run through filters and see how potent they still are at that ratio. Then if that ratio works I'll reduce the amount of liquifier until I find where it's not working to find the sweet spot just above that ratio.

It will work at 1:1. I had to use cotton from a q tip when I mixed at .3:1, there might be too many fats and lipids in rosin for that to work though, I'm not sure. Maybe try a 1/2ml and see what happens. You don't lose a bunch too the filter either.

I've been using Floraplex terp liquidizer and the highest I've ever got up to was 25%. Their site suggests like 10% as a suggested max but that is is winterized products only. Here you are at 30% and going up. I'll be real interested to see where your sweet spot ends up, and if its all worth. Those little syringe filters sure do seem to waste a lot of product.

I suppose it just needs to be cut with much higher percentage to have any chance of filtration. I was also going for purity in my mix. I already have several nice wax pens an stuff that I load concentrate right into and work like a charm. SourceVapes has this little guy called a 10cig Pro that hits like a champ for what it is! https://www.sourcevapes.com/products/source-10cig-pro-the-smallest-titanium-vape-pen I'm just trying the cart route because most don't want to buy rosin and use pens. The carts are easy and in demand.

Hello @Tstat

$34 for 30ml of 500mg CBD tincture is not bad.

The only reason I choose CBD Distillery is because they are so transparent.
They also offer two versions, a straight up CBD isolate and a cheaper full spectrum isolate, which in my opinion is the better option.
One day they will figure this out and start charging more for it.

Too often the stuff sold today is “natural” and "non-toxic” but those terms don’t really mean anything anymore but it allows these companies to not have to list their ingredients on their labels and SDS’s, so we are buying and putting God only knows what in our bodies…
Truth be told, all that this is going to do is cause the FDA to come down on the industry harder and then people will complain because they have to deal with "more regulations.” If only they have not been so greedy and been a little more transparent in the first place, the regulations would never have become an issue.

If you made a tincture with this isolate and some organic MCT oil it would initially cost you $68 for everything (not including the cost of the bottle) and you would have lots of MCT oil left over.
If you split the 1 gram of the CBD isolate you could make two 30ml bottles of 495mg oil.
You will only be using about 2 ounces of the MCT, which will cost you $2 and the Isolate is $38 (w/ shipping), so the cost per 30ml bottle would be $20.00

If you went with CBD Distillery, this would cost you $2 for the MCT and $33 (w/ shipping), so the cost per 30ml bottle would be $17.50

Besides growing hemp and processing it yourself or buying CBD by the pound, this is about as cheap as you are going to get without sacrificing quality.

If you can, rub some of the oil on the fatty tumors.
If this were a human I would suggest using a little DMSO mixed in because this will help it be absorbed faster, but with dogs, it’s probably not safe to use because they will probably lick it, though they might not because it can smell funky…

DMSO also helps with joint inflammation, so you may want to look to see if there is a “dog approved” version of this and you can add the CBD (oil or crystalline) right to it because DMSO is a solvent.

So instead of feeding it to them, you can give them a massage with the stuff and probably see faster results.

I hope this helps.

I just bought a 1/4 of the isolate over there. They are having a sale, I didn't do the math but close to 50% off. Got the 1/4 for 96 bones.

Sorry for being so blunt, but you will never get something that thick through a syringe filter.
They are designed for liquids.

Are you against using solvents?

Don't waste the cannabis oil...
The sweet spot is somewhere around a 2:1 ratio of dilutant/liquidizer (ml) to cannabis oil (g).
But this will ultimately depend on other variables like whether you are using a kiln dried shatter or liquid oil to begin with.

You need to thin the shatter/cannabis oil out using solvent otherwise you will never get your oil through one of these filters.

They are designed for thin liquids

The filters are capable of filtering out bacteria that's how tiny the pores in the membranes are.
For example, these are bacteria among red blood cells and the larger ball of crumpled foil is a white blood cell.
You need a minimum of 400x magnification to even see blood cells.

No worries, I appreciate bluntness. I am not inherently against using solvents. I just don't have the necessary materials to do it correctly. I also enjoy the many natural flavors retained with solventless concentrates.

I finally came across a working situation for me. I mixed my rosin with Floraplex terpene liquidizer at a ratio of 0.75:1 liquidizer:rosin. I still was not able to push through a 0.22um filter, but it did go through 0.45um filter. The result was much better than I expected. The liquidizer does not impart any taste or harshness at all even at that high ratio. I can still taste my rosin and it has stayed nice and clear and stable in the carts after 24 hours.

Now I'm going to mess around with different rosin screen sizes, temps, and materials to see if I can get the liquidizer ratio down even further. But I sure wish I knew what actually makes up this stuff. All natural terpenes, OK. Such as..... I know it's probably a secret recipe but none of the materials I could source from them show what's actually in it.
