Stem tea

So i've got a ton of stems in the freezer, somewhere on the order of 454g and here's what I'm thinking of doing:

I'm going to get some coconut milk and coconut cream (b/c no lactose) and dump it in a crockpot. Then i'm going to grind up my stems and throw 'em in the crock pot. I'll then cover the crockpot and let it set on low overnight/ six-eight hours. Then i'm going to strain out the mushy stems and save the milk in a mason jar. I will then sip the milk with my tea.

if you've ever made stem tea let me know what you think here!! help me out! I'm swingin on common sense here!

That sounds like a good idea. Please keep postings on this. Can't seem to picture the taste, though. Personally, I'm looking for all kinds of ways to use. I have COPD so I am trying to find better ways than smoking.

yeah I feel you, vaping has been my go to since '06; edibles never really do the same thing for me, sometimes i'm on my ass, sometimes i see colors more vibrantly but still feel some aches and pains, other times I don't feel anything at all. Tinctures, esp ones you can mist sublingually, are also pretty nice. I've made the VICS formula before, the mint is a nice touch.

I'm trying to get as much out of the plant as possible so this is just one more thing to try. I've heard stem tea is a mellow experience so I'll be looking for that when it's time to try it. I'm thinking of putting some vanilla, cardamom, cinamon, clove type mixture into the milk to quasi-chai it up for the taste factor. I don't expect it'll be terrible, but i like wheatgrass shots and beet juice so maybe my palate isn't so super close to the mainstream...

Anywho, picking up the coconut milk later so things will be underway and I should have a taste test tomorrow or the next day. might have to travel for work the day after tomorrow, so that might be ideal...

You mean VICS like ViCS Rub when you have to clear up a cold?

I have never heard of making tea with stems? Didn't know they would get you high.
I would think it would be pretty good. My brother-in-law uses The stems, roots, sun leaves, and any other trimming to make cana butter. I've had some of his cookies mad with it and they knocked my socks off. I have heard that ALL parts of the plant have all the oils, but just not as much as the buds and maybe the sugar leaves.

yeah, there's a bunch of good cannabinoids spread throughout the plant. Stem tea is supposed to be pretty mellow so probably a fair amount of CBD, CBG, CBN etc.

As for VICS (Vancouver Island Compassion Society), it's just a particular recipe for a tincture that you put into a little spray bottle and spray under your tongue, and in the sides of your cheek to dose. check out thevics.com for the recipe.

it will give you a buzz

but in truth most of the trics(thc) is on the flowers

with tiny amounts on the stems and fans

but always good to see kiddies play

I like to save my stems . . . And sneak them onto bonfire in the backyard when my wife isn't looking which is FROWNED UPON when the kids are around.

Let's say that you are sitting on the patio on a hot day with a nice pitcher of "green tea". Would it be so bad to drink a couple of glasses to get a little buzz?

If you enjoy stem tea then make it, drink it, and enjoy it.

Many growers are left with stems and fans with little idea what to do

I compost mine down

others make a tea,

just soak in water to a month

then add to the watering can for some recycled nutes

or better spray on your plant once a month

good luck

A quick aside, Trichomes are not the same thing as THC; Trichomes manufacture cannabinoids, including THC. And the 'tiny amounts' you reference are nonetheless, there, and so can be concentrated into the milk.

Wow you must be a really superior gardener. Look at you returning your nitrogen to your grow via composting. Well done, sir! Such a creative and original use of greenwaste. And, so humble, too--it's totally not condescending to refer to someone as a 'kiddie.'

I think you're over focused on THC--Plenty of other cannabinoids in the stems and fan leaves, especially when you have a pound of them.

But, hey, thanks for contributing your incredibly enlightened opinion to this discussion about a consumable beverage that can be produced and enjoyed consequent to a successful gardening cycle.

PS, your bogus ass leftovers tea does very very little, and certainly is a useless foliar.
